ughhhhhhhhhhh!
blacktxbelle replied to terrydumont46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sure hit the nail on the head there! I love the bariatricpal community but friends we have to remember that we are your cheerleaders. We are here for any questions others may have about our experiences but when you are uncomfortable as a result of nausea, have concerns about slippages, and other things that we see become serious all too quickly, please make sure to contact your physician as quickly as you can. Most often the staff at your respective offices expect that there are going to be lots of questions don't forget they are a resource too. terrydumont46 I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. It stinks when you know you're doing the right things but not getting the expected results. I will be praying for you. -

26 Pounds Gone in Six Months
blacktxbelle replied to Lap_Band_Evelyn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on the 26 lb lose. I think you are doing fantastic. I too would love it if the weight would just melt off but I have come to accept that steadier loses may mean keeping it off. It took us all a little while to gain the weight so we should be fair to our bodies and be patient as we teach ourselves new more successful habits and watch the weight drop off as we go. 2muchfun has a point, how are you doing with satiety? Are you exercising consistently? How often do you find yourself eating? How much are you eating? I have found that I am having to play with my routine a little to find out what works for me. Remember results aren't the same, your body's reaction to movement, food, etc are also not the same. PLEASE, PLEASE be very proud of yourself though! Keep your head up and enjoy your new life. -
Got banded July the 18 2014
blacktxbelle replied to LADYBUG50's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there. I got banded in July. I was banded 11 days after you it seems. So far I am down 12 lbs that I know of but I only weigh when I go to the doctor. This keeps me from being half crazy as the scale move backwards and fowards. I did have a lower BMI (35) so my weight is coming off a little slower. Life with the band is truly different. 1. I no longer crave certain high carb starchy foods as I did before. (I do still have some cravings) 2. I no longer get up planning what I am going to put in my mouth. 3. I am working on walking at least 1 miles a day and get disappointed when I don't 4. My tummy is a little airy so I do take the opportunity to walk around at work each night and pretty much when ever I feel like it...no one seems to mind. 5. I love Quest bars now. -
Mine are free for the first year and 75.00 each after that.
-
My hunger is completely at bay on the weekends. I guess I am not nearly as bored as I am at work. I have found that love a Quest bar to tide me over though!

It's possible that mucous from the infection could be irritating your stomach and esophagus to some degree. For me, anytime I get a bad enough cold even, I get nauseous and can't swallow very well pre-band. I have had one infection post band but knowing this I called my primary care Dr early on and was given antibiotics so I didn't have near the trouble this time. I personally would at least call the physician and get their thoughts on the matter. It doesn't mean you have to go in. A lot of times you can speak with a nurse and they will either make suggestions or speak with the Dr. to see if it is serious enough you should go in at that time.

Hi Kerry 5570, Glad you are feeling better. I enjoyed walking and still do to release the bloat. I still also enjoy my heating pad and gas-x thin strips. (I recently switched from chewables). To add a ticket, look to the top right of the screen where it says "Hello Kerry 5570" Click there and then click on you avatar the little person to the left. On the left hand side of the next screen look for tickers. Click tickers. Then click add tickers on the next page. It gives you some options for the weight and the little marker. Best Wishes

Restriction has opened a new chapter in my life
blacktxbelle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I was banded on July 29, 2014. I am at 6 cc's and have good restriction. I find that I am no longer hungry much. After years of emotional, boredom, and all the other reasons we shove food in our mouth eating I don't really know what to do with myself sometimes. I find it hard to know when I should be eating now. I don't want to wait until my tummy growls but I don't want to eat just because I "should be" at some specified time. I guess I am now working on my new normals. It's funny, I am literally building a whole other life. I thought it would be just dietary changes but my activities are changing. My thought process is changing. I actually think about doing thinks like half-marathons, walking my son to school, etc. I'm not doing everything I think about at this point due to my issues with working nights and trying to get enough sleep to be happy and healthy. In general life is good. I want to increase my loses some but it's a learning process. I've got a few new favorites, among them the infamous Quest Bars, baked colossal shrimp, and yes I still have a couple tbsp's of pie every now and then but apple pie Quest Bars are really turning into my go to when I want something like that. Wow this is all so new. -
Restriction has opened a new chapter in my life
blacktxbelle replied to blacktxbelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did it today! I keep wanting to walk my son to school in the mornings but I get home in time to get him dressed, fed, and off to school. We live about 1.3 miles from the school so with a 9 year old I would need 20-25 mins (you know they have to see everything still) so not enough time. I dropped him off this morning, pulled my car in the driveway and set out walking up the street. I only did a little over a mile but it felt really good! -
I like the Quest Bars (White chocolate Raspberry) and some of the Atkins stuff (The hazelnut snack bar). Atkins usually only come in at about 15 gm of protein while Quest comes in at about 20-22 gm of Protein. I prefer Quest Bars because they have lots of Fiber usually 15-19 grams. You will find on a high protein diet fiber is your friend. Best Wishes!

No feeling hunger but I want something to put in my mouth eek!

know what you are talking about!! good for you on staying strong - keep it up!!!
good for you

Head hunger I am terrified of it - I just found dry roasted Edamame - 14 gr of Protein for 1/4 cup - crunchy reminds you of peanuts... Go Soy protein.
-
@ Jordan861 -- I'll have to try the edamame. I like the stemmed variety. The dried ones sound interesting and the protein count is definitely enticing!.

July 2014 banders where ya at and how is it going?
blacktxbelle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone. It's been a little over six weeks since I was banded. I am finally in the green zone with 6 cc in my band. I works nights as many of you have heard me say and it has been interesting. I am trying new foods and hating others. I am preparing to amp up my walk....to a jog that is and am down 12 lbs. That of course didn't come without me first gaining 5 lbs after surgery. Life for the most part is great. I am still learning what my new norms are and enjoying life. How is it going for the rest of you. Any new things, non-scale victories, new foods. What's going on with you? -

Is it possible to feel restriction at one level and then a lower level at another time
blacktxbelle replied to blacktxbelle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you all for your feedback. I was asking this question for a friend of mine. She too has a band and became very ill. She wound up going to the ER and having her 6.25 ccs of Fluid completely removed. She is working her way back up but she is now feeling satiety at 5.5 instead of having to go back up the full 6.25. I was just wondering was she probably too tight or could she possibly be experiencing satiety at a lower level now days. -

July 2014 banders where ya at and how is it going?
blacktxbelle replied to blacktxbelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there Greenebean13! Before getting the band back in July, I did a gob of research. I found a few interesting tidbits. One of those being that individuals with lower BMI's tend to loose weight a little slower. I'm still reading into it but to make a long story short we have to work a little harder it seems to attain faster weight loss I'm on the other hand you want your weight loss to be stead as well. I'm still working on exercise. I need to increase my activity from 45 mins to about 1.5 hours at least 4 times a week. I'm just having a hard time fitting it in right now. Have you added any activity yet? -

Terribly sorry your having a rough time. I too think it sounds more like a virus. I had .5 too much in the office and went to drink and couldn't get it down. The practitioner removed some and I was good to go. Feel better soon. -
What’s a 38 year old girl with a BMI of 36 to do?
blacktxbelle replied to gin765's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Don't let one surgeon stop your show girl. I had a bmi of 35 when I started. My surgeon prefers to band lower bmi's. He feels it easier to level their weightloss and just as effective. Banding from everything I've researched hasn't lost its ground. -

It's so great to hear from you guys. I am down 12 pounds I trying to work up the courage to walk and pick my son up from school instead of drive. That gives me 2 mile a day in addition to my walk in the evening. Wish me luck. I want this weight off! -
I can deal with the gurgle. I can even deal with the toots it just the toots that get stuck. Oh how miserable that makes me. It usually only happens when I am at work and eat too much or too fast...

Pre-op liquid diet hell
blacktxbelle replied to I will what I want's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The first few days of the liquid diet can be a little rough. Your body is still used to having all the stuff you typically eat. It's kinda like detox if you will. Your body is going into carb/caffeine/waste withdrawals. Usually day 4-5 on are easier. It still sucks a little but you find that you have a little more energy. Either way make sure you follow up with your primary care physician or surgery staff. Best of Luck! -
After much trial and error drumroll please. I'm feeling the green zone on my night shift LOL!
