  1. I had my gastric bypass on the 29th. I was 368.5 prior to surgery. I'm just now starting to eat some applesauce. Tomorrow, I am going to try yogurt and a Protein shake throughout the day. I'm hoping before long to be able to stop the pain meds. I need them the most right after I wake up and start moving and after I've been moving quite a bit during the day. But I was taking them every 4 hours to stay ahead of the pain and now, I'm going to try not to take any tonight at all once I go to bed. I do have a high pain tolerance so that may help. I'm fortunate in that my Mom is helping me keep track of everything so I don't have to do it all on my own right now. Hopefully, we can support each other throughout this journey. Elizabeth
  2. Maureen, I'm having my surgery on Oct 29th and I'm close to 400 pounds. I want to end up about 150, but I will be happy to end up about 200 pounds. I try not to set myself up for failure to start with so I'm trying to be very realistic. So I am interested in this thread also. Elizabeth

    October Surgery Date

My surgery date is Oct 29th. I start my two-week liquid diet on Oct 15th. I can have up to 4 Protein shakes a day and 64 oz of Water plus sugar-free popsicles and sugar-free Jello. I'm ready for this to happen! It's taken me a long time to get to this point and I'm so ready for this to happen. I've already basically cut all soda from my diet and the next step is to cut out carbonation. Right now, I'm drinking sugar-free flavored water, but it's carbonated. That is my next goal before surgery. Cut carbonation. I drink about 3 bottles of water a day and each is about 32 oz so I can get the water in. Elizabeth
  4. I originally started the process to have WLS in January. Due to information one of my doctors wrote in a letter, I have had to switch hospitals and doctors and start all over again. Anyway, I'm on a bit of a time crunch to have the surgery due to the fact that I am starting Student Teaching in mid-August. I am now currently waiting to have a cardiology appointment for clearance and that will be the last hurdle I have. I see that doctor on June 30. Anyway, I am wanting to have my surgery before I start my student teaching. If I have the surgery about the first of August, do you think that I will have enough time to recover to be able to start teaching mid-August? The first couple of weeks, I am going to be doing more sitting than standing so sitting isn't going to be an issue. Just wanting to get other people's opinions. Elizabeth
