    Ticker question

I used my heaviest weight recorded at the DR's Office, I am not sure what my actual heaviest weight was since the scale at my home only went up to 300 lbs. What weight you use is up to you. You might also want to take a picture now as painful as it might seem. I do not have any pictures at my heaviest weight since I avoided the camera when I got over 285. You might also want to write a letter to yourself explaining why you are doing this so when you are tempted to give in you can go back and read it for encouragement.

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

We just got home a few weeks ago from Disney and I totally know what you mean!! I didn't struggle to sit next to my husband and son on a ride. What a great feeling!! Enjoy and way to go! A few weeks ago The wife and I went to Disney Land by ourselves and I took the stairs two steps at a time at Tarzan's Tree house and did not run out of Breath. Going again tomorrow afternoon.

To Tell Or Not To Tell?

My wife and I had surgery on the same day so we never kept our Lapbands a secret. Told my co workers and now anyone who ask. Even after 6 years still proud of my decision to have the Lapband. Why not share!

Come Out, Come Out, Where Ever You Are!

The site seems to be a little better to use. It is good to see the site being used again. I am spending more time studying on job related requirement so cannot be as active.
  13. I will normally have two to three small bites slowly and then just eat the toppings. In the good old days 6 to 8 pieces were the norm. Even though I eat less I enjoy it more because It takes longer for me to finish the 4 small bites and the topping off one slice then it took me to eat the 8 pieces.

    Recommitting

In order to get to my lowest weight my band was to tight and while I did lose those 20 lbs I was very fortunate that I did not do permanent damage to my esophagus. I had to have a complete unfill and have a Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and found that my esophagus had dialated, the band fortunately was still in task but it would take several months to heal. During that time I regained quite a bit of weight. I also did not want to get a fill but got a small fill and still continued to eat more slider foods than I should of. I had not been on mediation for diabetes for 5 years and at the rate I was gaining it would not be long before the need for medication would begin Finally after going up two sizes from my lowest weight and getting Christmas gifts from my kids that I had to do everything that I could to keep it close led to my decision to recommit. Part of the commitment includes being active on this site. Having gone back to eating after 9:00 in the evening I had to make sure that I went to bed before 9:00 PM. I started using a smaller plate and spreading my cup of food around the plate so it would seem like I had more to eat. Putting my fork down between bites is a key for me and chewing and chewing and chewing. Taking the time to savor the food instead of worrying about the amount of food on the plate. Eating at the table and not in front of the TV has helped. Getting all my fluids in is very important. Since I was going to bed earlier that meant I get up earlier and started walking again. In March I was on a trip to Reno and I had acute pancreatic due from gallstones blocking the pancreatic so they had to go through the liver to reduce the swelling in the gallbladder and then remove the gallbladder. The whole experience reminded me of my mortality and the need to take care of my health. I also concentrate more on NSV’s than what the scale says. I am by no means the perfect bandster never have been but do want to be around to enjoy the grand children.

    Stomach Growling

My grand kids think I have an Alien in my stomach because of all the gurgling and growling noise. It seem to happen more while the entire family gathers for a nice meal and I believe the Alien just wants to be included.

    Halloween Candy

Kit Kats are very yummy. My wife had to put together 54 hostess bags for this week and there was tons of candy at our house, Before it would of been one in a hostess bag and one for me, one in the hostess bag and one for me, This year I ate a mall Kit Kat and half a snicker, I consider that pretty good for a chocoholic.

    what do i do??

I did not want my wife to get the surgery 7 years ago but the more research she did and shared with me it started making sense. I even went to a seminar with her. I always thought losing weight was about Will power as well. Six years ago we both got a lapband on the same day. She kept 90 lbs off and I have kept off over 125 lbs off.
