I find shrimp cocktail to be a god send for me. I get some decent sized one in the actual market not the pre packed ones and enjoy that. Get the spicy cocktail sauce and that makes it taste good and limit the amount I eat. It's a treat but I keep it on hand to get me thru those pangs.

I was banded on July 3 and didn't have my first fill till August 20 because of my travel schedule. I went in and the doctor said I was losing fast and wanted me not to get a fill. I was like "what I paid for this thing to restrict" and he said you are losing with just the band being on without Fluid. Anyone else go thru this?

Mine was submitted in April 4 and I had my approval by April 8or 9th. Very quick turnaround. Surgery was july 3

I was banded July 3. I have felt almost zero pain since the day of the surgery. I'm just getting to soft food and you really have to remember to eat slow and not drink while eating. That's been the hardest part. Get my first fill August 6

I suspect that is very normal. I lost a fair amount right after but I'm pretty sure I'm maintaining right now. I don't have or want a scale so I can't say for certain. However my clothes and belt tell me when I'm losing or gaining. For me I'm just starting the soft food stage. I don't like that I still can't find anything that my stomach likes at restaurants. eggs and opinions have been a nightmare for me for some reason.

Sounds about right, with the lapband....in most cases they have not done anything other than "Install" the device....now is the post op phase where it is all about healing from the surgery and getting back to normal...which sounds like you are doing. The next phase will be a series of band adjustments - fills....this is where the fun begins... Four weeks after surgery I had my first fill, and it was a good one....after which I started to gain weight....untill my 2nd fill 4 weeks after that..... I was very frustrated and upset to say the least....was told I needed to be counting calories, measuring portions, keeping a journal..... I immediately told them that that was what I've been doing with just about every other diet I have ever been on, and there have been plenty, and I did not need surgery and all the hoops and $$ that went into it, just to do what I have done before.... They calmed me explaining the adjustment process, Yellow-Green-Red Zone, etc, etc, and until I got the band in good harmony with me, there was nothing else I could do but diet.....but I stink at diets so weight gain it was...even with the band. For me it took 4-5 months after surgery to get it...then another few months of numerous stuck episodes, etc, adjusting my eating habits and behaviors, a new way of doing things... Happy to say, having gotten through that phase, the band is, and has been working PERFECTLY for the last 3 years now. Diet is a four letter word....I have adjusted myself to co-exist with a adjusted band, and have come to live a new lifestyle....a lifestyle that has brought me back to a normal weight, restored my health, and many other factors.... best thing I could have ever done for myself..... This thing DOES WORK!
Thx for the detailed response, much appreciated. Yeah that is my fear as well. If this is another count calories and carbs diet why did I waste my money! I'm glad to know restriction is coming. I need something to stop me :-)

I was just banded on July 3. It's been smooth sailing so far. Just remember to have some variety on your menu when you get to the purée stage.

I had my band on July 3 myself. This purée stage is no joke! Follow your instructions to the t.

I mix it in with my shakes it really gives substance and sustenance to the shake. For me I can last longer between shakes without getting hungry. One tip: buy them at costco or equivalent. Much much better price and quality.@pdb45214 someone else had mentioned Chia Seeds to me...to you just eat them like nuts or mix them in something?

Would you be willing to share this recipe?Hi Bandista! Thank you for the reply. Actually, I made some amazing vegetable broth using carrots, celery, red onions, peppercorns, bay leaves, and a little Kosher salt. It's my absolute life saver. I can honestly say that I'm not hungry, but my mind is. I can actually feel my brain expanding and contracting as I think about food. It's so weird. Thanks for the kind words. I want this hunger monkey off my back too.

I'm on day 2 of my three week preop. This isn't fun but I can't stand another day of being this weight. Where are the dudes at on here?!
