    Judgement issues over low BMI

Thank you everyone. I needed a little perspective. I am glad I did this for myself. I am so thankful for this site. Bless you all and much success to everyone.
  2. Sleeved 6/17 and stalled by 6/25. scale did not move until July 15 and I am 3 pound down in three days. I'm sure it is your bod young through the shock and I'm sure it's one of many. I can see the changes so I'm not so worried about the actual number. Just hang in there.
  3. My dr told me during my 1week follow up that my pulse was up. He said I was dehydrated. I would agree the other pain may still be gas. Of course call the dr or nurse, but drink drink drink and walk walk walk. You don't want to be in the er getting iv fluids.

    surgery Aug 6th

Just make sure you have both clear Protein and full Proteins that are approved by your doctor. Just make sure those other things you are getting are sugar free. I was not able to eat anything until 2 weeks post op, so I didn't stock up on the purée items until i was ready. Good luck to you!!!
  5. I was sleeved 6/17 and lost 20 pounds since pre op diet. I stalled from 6/25 until 7/14. Yesterday I was down a pound and today another. I guess it's just part of the process.
  6. I posted earlier. Sleeved 6/17. And since June 25 I have been stalled. Only 20 pound since preOp diet. I an down 2 pounds today so yeah. I guess my body has Finally come out of shock and will now do what it's supposed to. I'm sure another Stall or several will come along this journey as I add and experiment with regular foods. It is what it is !!!
  7. I wish your family was more supportive. My hub and did the week long pre op liquid diet with me. We did not cook that week. The kids got microwave meals or sandwiches etc. He kept up with me after surgery and I did not enter the kitchen to cook until 3 weeks out. He did not eat in front of me or he ate what I was eating. He likes all the sugar free items and yogurt and cottage cheese etc. Now they love that I'm back to cooking. As a family we eat very healthy at meals and our downfall is Snacks. There are a lot and not healthy. Trying to change that for them now!!! They will probably come around. It's impossible to see how good you will start looking and feeling, and not be envious. It will be the best thing you've done for yourself. That's what matters.

    3 Days Post Op

My dr did not want clear Protein until day 5. As much Water as you can and Clear liquids . Then full liquids in week two so full Protein drinks. My dr supplied a chart and for a woman 5'5" (me) I should get 87 gm a day. I round this to 90. I bought unflavored powder and add it to everything to try to get more. I was sleeved 6/17 and am on soft foods. I now get 60 gm from 2 drinks a day and track the rest in the small meals I eat. You have to drink all the time. You do not want to have to go get iv fluids. Good luck to you. This month is hard... I've been stalled since 9 days out but I think it might be over soon. Keep on!!!

    Medication adjustments

Sleeved on 6/17. I can't say it is the medication. I have 3 meds for depression/anxiety/etc from a psychiatrist. She was very adamant that I must continue to take my prescribed dosages as scheduled. She said it is dangerous to not have your meds because of how imbalanced you can become and with such a life altering process, you don't need to be without. I chose sleeve over band because the band opening gets so small with fills. I made that decision with all my doctors. My son was murdered two weeks before going to college three years ago. It took me 1 & 1/2 to stop being suicidal and start living again for the rest of my family who has missed their brother and son and wife and mother too. But I attribute part of my healing to the medications. My doctor has said I will most likely be on them for many years to come. Just because your size has changed doesn't mean your mind needs less of the dose you have been medically prescribed. Please contact all of your doctors concerning not feeling well and together you can find what can help.

6 months out and HICUPS.... anyone? LOL

I'm only 4 weeks out and I hiccup and that's my full signal. I'm trying to stop before they start. It seems this May be my new norm since you others are much farther out. I made the mistake and tried to take a drink to get them to stop and I lost it all!!! It was very painful. So now I just stop the minute I feel the first one.

    Zija......need help

Hello. Sleeved on 6/17. I too have chronic daily as well as migraine headaches. Let your doctor know what Rx's you take. All of mine were approved. My headaches have been minimal since pre op and now a month out. I was always one who could take a Handful of pills so I was thankful that the day after surgery I was able to take all my necessary meds with no issues. Today I still take 4 capsules each morning and two pills at night all at once. I would say that if you have done your research, and you are wanting the best tool to assist to change your life then the sleeve is your best choice. But it will take the most work!!! I'm only looking forward from here on out. Good luck to you !!!

    Doing the math

I was sleeved 6/17 and was lucky to not have an issue swallowing anything. pills or regular drinks of water/shakes. However I could not stand the thought of the Protein shakes. I had no issue pre diet and I had 90 grams a day. I decided on premier Protein Shakes. Small and 30gm in one shake. I drink it first thing in the morning and it takes 5 to 10 minutes. Fluid does go through you quickly. I will have another one if I'm not tolerating the soft food I have chosen. I know I get 60 grams a day at least. I have learned my full on soft foods is hiccups and I learned the hard way not to drink too soon after the "meal". Took one drink and that was lesson learned. Don't beat yourself up on the protein but do get in as much Water to keep hydrated. I can tell each day if it's not enough and I step it up because I don't want to have to go get iv fluids. Keep up all of the good work and keep on !!!
  13. I'm June 17th. Since June 26 I have been stalled. Lost 20 since pre-op and was thrilled but not a pound since the 26th. I drink just fine. I get in 60 gm Protein before I think about meals. Also on soft foods and able to eat very little. I'm trying to walk 30 minutes a day. I am upset but I know it has to end soon. I would love to keep up with June sleevers. Please keep posting.

    Post op vitamins

I get all of mine OTC. Centrum makes a chewable multi with Iron. I also have a sublingual b-12 and gummie b complex and gummie Calcium. The Vitamin d is a small soft gel. All of these I get at my local walmart or grocery depending on who has something on sell. I hope this helps. I don't have issues swallowing any pills, but the nutritionist insisted they be chewables or gummie to have the most nutrients absorbed. Makes sense. You also have to wait between the multi with iron and calcium for 2 hours because they should not be taken together.
  15. I too am stalled. I've been at the same weight for 2 weeks and I'm only 3 weeks out. It's so frustrating but I can't change much because I'm on soft foods and consume very little. I do get in 60 gm protien via shakes plus the small amount in the food I attempt to eat. I just can't wait to write the post that says it's over. Hope to be back with that one soon.

    Day 14

Hello. Sleeved June 17 and after 7 days I was down 20 pounds from before pre-op diet. I am thrilled. Now I haven't lost a pound since then. I know it's frustrating and discouraging. Now I'm on soft foods and I need milk of magnesia to get my system flowing again I am getting at lest 70 gym Protein and I drink throughout the day. By the way, I never had an issue with fluids. I take my Water in just fine without sipping and not gulping either. Everyone please keep posting. I want to know about getting past this stall.

    Mom is being Sleeved tomorrow

I was in the hospital by myself. After I came out of surgery I kissed my husband goodbye and told him to go take care of work and our kids and come get me the next day. I changed into pajama pants soon after for my comfort. I had my phone to contact family and friends. I had chap stick. That was crucial. Also I wore my shoes as I was walking around the hospital hallways. This is because I had to take the iv stand and I kept kicking it. So my shoes helped with that. If she's staying that long bring toiletries for showering and brushing her teeth. Maybe moisturizer lotion. I didn't need those because I left the next day at noon. Congrats on both of your decisions regarding great health and a new life. My daughters are very supportive of my decision. I am 17 days post op and 20 pound down from my pre op diet. It's the best decision I've made for myself.

    vitamins all at once?

I was told to take the Calcium two hours apart from the Iron (or multi if it has the iron). So I take a chewable multi with iron, sublingual b12, gummie B complex and D3 (small gel pill) and capsule Biotin at once. Then later in the day I take the chewable calcium. The nutritionist said to take chewables and capsules over tablets because of the amount of time it has to dissolve and absorb in the sleeve. Makes sense so that is what I do.
  20. Pink dahlia, thank you. It's been the hardest 3 years of my life. He was "my" only son. We have adopted 4 kids in the last 5 years. So I had to do something to get healthy for them. At home I have 15, 6, 6 and 5. That is what finally drove me to make a life decision. Everyone's journey is personal and sometimes painful, but I'm glad I finally decided to live again.

Ok, ONE MORE SUCCESS TO SHARE

You are very small! Did you have any surgery for your excess skin or is it an issue for you? I'm only 2 weeks out and would love those results but I wonder about that? Thanks.
  22. Hello! Sleeved on 6/17. I was going to do band because I have a lower bmi and I thought it was my only option. However when I started doing research, there was one main issue for me. The band does have to be adjusted periodically and I read about adjustments that do nit allow anything to be held down for periods at a time. I take 3 daily medications for major depressive disorder resulting from my son's murder three years ago. My psychiatrist suggested the sleeve because it does not change the size of the opening and she wanted to make sure I do not miss multiple doses of my medications. So I chose sleeve and on day two I started taking my pills with no issues. I can swallow without sipping all day and I am following Drs orders with diet and Vitamins. I also had a hiatal hernia repairer and the scope showed ulcers on my stomach so the sleeve removed many of those. All I'm really worried about is the hair loss but I know I will try my hardest to continue the required Protein intake and I take Biotin too. The choice is definitely personal. Much success to whichever way you go. 20 pounds down from pre op diet to today. Yeah.

    Stuck Feeling

I was sleeved 6/17 and I was so scared because of my anti depressants that I must take every day. Nutritionist told me to not take any pill larger than the Rx Prilosec capsule. All my supplements are chewables or a capsule which I can open and take easier. However I have not had a problem with the other pills to date. I'm sure I might somedays, but I will crush or split them before I give up. Thanks for everyone's insight. It really helps.
  24. I was sleeved on 6/17 and when I got home I was back to my pre op diet before weight. That of course was all of the Fluid. I also was not going to the restroom much for those first days. However, when I was 5 days out and allowed to start the Protein again, all my systems were flushed out and the weight just came off. At 9 days I was down 14 pounds and today at 13 days I'm 19. I'm not disappointed. I just need to start walking more like I'm supposed to. Don't worry, it will fall off. Your body just has to adjust and turn itself around to what's going on. Once it gets going the other direction you'll have steady results I know I'm not much further, but I hope it helps.
  25. Hello. I am 8 days post op and love this site. What I never considered is what about fruits??? Please let me know if all fruits are okay and tolerated or is anything taboo??? There is nothing in my patient materials specifically about it. I used to make my family the puréed frozen fruit with the dessert bullet ( my machine is called Yo Nanas). It is 100% fruit and makes it to the consistency of ice cream. We all love it. I know it's supposed to be Protein protein protein but please give me some insight on fruits. Thanks.
