    Self pay in Texas

Pacheka Yes it is if you do not have any health insurance that will cover the hernia repair. If you do have insurance call the office and have them verify if you are covered for that and then it's only $8200. Yes, every penny saved counts. But honestly for me it's worth every dollar spent. My family had been so supportive and they are excited for a new me! So which ever way you go to accomplish your goal do continue.

    Self pay in Texas

Extremely. He has done thousands of procedures. He does the surgery at Wise Regional Hospital. When I was there, I was the first one and total I would say there were 10 other patients that day. We were all out walking the floor at different times throughout the day. Because I was not in much pain, I made his nurse read me the surgery notes to make sure it was really done. I guess the drugs were great. It was an overnight stay and they discharge me the next afternoon. Dr. Stowers said he has had about 8 leaks total. It's possible that could have been caused by progressing to post op diet too fast. There were many people I met that came from hours away for the surgery. I think they pay for a hotel stay for the out of towners. I go back Thursday for my post surgery follow up. I'm excited to get cleared and keep going. Just to let you know I started at 190 on June 10th and began the diet and this morning, 7 days out I am 172. My goal is 130.

  5. About the lettuce. My nutritionist said to eliminate it from my life. She said it does not go well with the sleeve and it has no nutritional value. She said to try spinach leaves if you want a green salad. I only am repeating what I heard because I am post op one week, but I will trust her about that for a while.
  6. I was sleeved on June 17th. I feel a pain when I drink too much at a time. So that tells me to wait. I'm only getting in about 40 oz of liquid but my dr says to wait for Protein shakes until 5 days out. So I'm on Clear Liquids. I'll start clear shakes tomorrow (nectar). Then on day 8 I start full liquid which for me is the Bariatric Advantage shakes. I also get to have Soups with no lumps at all. On day 15 is the soft foods as tolerated and 30 days regular as tolerated. I have heard once you eat it is about two bites. My dr also has me start Vitamins once I've seen him for the one week follow up. I do have pain more on one incision than the others so when it starts to burn I take a pain pill. I take about 3 a day total. I've been on the treadmill about 15 minutes a day. I hope you are feeling better every day. Good luck and keep up the hard work.

    NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER

where in Texas I am in Dallas. Surgery on the 30th.I'm in Dallas too. I was sleeved Tuesday. I chose dr stowers in decatur. Everything has gone perfect. Their staff and the hospital have been awesome. I think the time before the surgery gives you time to prepare. And answer almost any question you can think of.

    Surgery on Wed June 18

I am home as well. Surgery was Tuesday am and got home last night at 5. While I did so well in the hospital the pain came with the ride home. I take the nausea medicine first and then take my pills. I did three pills last night and four this morning. I did keep them all down. I'm taking it easy today, but I will try to stroll on the treadmill later today. Good luck to all of you and remember it does get better. I know the next few days will be tough but I have lots of support.

    NEWBIES..... LETS STICK TOGETHER

Hello. This is my second post and I was sleeved this morning. My pain in recovery was intense under my ribs and I was nauseated too. But I got meds for that and it's not bad. I'm a 3 on a 10 scale of pain. I've been walking around the unit floor and have done 11 Laps. I wanted to say that when I made the decision my first appointment was May 14th and here I am sleeved. My insurance was not going to cover no matter what so I was a private pay which made the process so fast. I wish you all well for your ongoing journey. I lost my oldest son at age 18 three years ago. I have 3 adopted children at home 5, 6 & 6. Pllus a 15 year old. I'm doing this for me, to be a better mom for them.

    Surgery on Wed June 18

Hello! This is my first post and I am in my hospital bed having my surgery this morning. The two days before I just kept reading posts and doing more research. I kind of had cold feet. But here I am. Luckily I had the "air" pain just under my ribs and I did have some nausea. I have had my meds as given or allowed. I would say my pain level is a 3 out of 10. I'm so happy I've done this. I was going to. Do the band, but I have to take 3 different pills each day. My primary Doc said I should do sleeve since it does not change the opening size. I just have to space out taking them. Thank you to all of you on this forum. I've found it fascinating and helpful. Wishing everyone out there a successful and satisfying journey.
