  1. I am also a teacher - 5th grade - I took 2 weeks. I was also dead tired after my first week back. I am good now though. Today I am 5 weeks post op and doing great!
  2. Hey! I am 5 weeks out today. I get to see a nutritionist about the same time you do - so I am following my papers as well. My fitness pal is great, but it does tell me I eat too little - ha ha. Here are my numbers from yesterday. Calories 611 Carbs 42 Fat 19 Protein 72 Sodium 1316 Sugar 18 I am usually under 600 calories, so if my calculations are correct then we should both be ok. I am ready to see the nutritionist and be told do this and have sample meals given to me - not that I could eat a meal, just a 4 bite plan I guess! Maybe someone who knows the real deal will tell us.
  3. Nice collarbone! Mine is showing up as well. Funny, I had kind of forgotten about it.
  4. Yay!!! So happy for you!!!
  5. I have always been hot natured- I am freezing now as well. I thought I was going crazy. Maybe when we get to our goal weight it regulates. I sleep with a heating pad.
  6. I am 4 weeks post op today! You will be great and will feel fabulous! I would say about 6 hours post op I was on IV Tylenol and that was it. Not a lot of pain at all inside. Incisions were tender but that was it.
  7. So, i am still trying to wear my jeans that are a size 26 - I need to get a belt if I continue to do this. A friend gave me a box of her "fat clothes" from after her surgery so I would not have to purchse much. She was smaller that me to begin with, so most of the pants and jeans she sent were a size 16. However, there was one size 18. I thought I would give it a shot, and what do my wondering eyes should appear - they fit - they are tight, but I can breathe in them! Wow!!! so excited!!!
  8. You are not vain! One week post op I got a sassy new hair-do!
  9. Thanks everyone!!! This makes me feel better that my behavior is somewhat normal.
  10. I had mine out yesterday - 3 weeks post op - very red and sore. Still sore now, but healing. they were a pain in the but, but way better than having a drain! Did that for my lumpectomy - awful!
  11. first of all you Look Fabulous! I have not gone public on FB, but will at some point. I work in a school so all my co-workers know, but I told my students I had a Hiatal Hernia repair (which I did as well). I am waiting to see how long it takes the kids to notice - they are 10 and 11. They noticed my haircut. Many people have asked questions and everybody but 1 was excited for me. The other was concerned - but not negative. I am a breast cancer survivor as well and was very oen about my health during that so I have become an open book. If it helps someone else get healthy - then I am happy.
  12. I know I am being a bit stupid, but please help me out of my mental state of stupidity. Went to doc yesterday for 3 week post op app (got staples out!). I have down 15 pounds since surgery and 45 pound since August 1st. I am feeling great, exercising, drinking liquids, having Protein shakes, eating eggs and grits. I have a good understanding now of when to stop and my fullness signal. Doc said I can start the soft food phase - have list of foods. I found some sample menus of line so I can put some things together in logical order. However, my problem is that I am mentally afraid to start eating. I feel that I am in a good place and I am losing, and I am afraid if I eat more real food that I will stop losing and that will be it. I know if I do the math and realize that I am eating about 600 calories a day and exercising that I will lose weight. I know that stalls will come, But am I just being silly. And maybe part of this comes with the fact that I did not get a menu plan from dr, but just a list of foods. I am not sure if I should have 3 meals with a morning and afternoon snack - if I need that. What I am doing now is making a huge Protein shake - seriously like 50 g, and drinking it over a period of 3 -4 hours. Drinking liquids the rest of the day and have like half a boiled egg in the afternoon and the rest in the early evening. Might add cheese to that egg. Is this wrong? What do I do?
  13. I had surgery on the 17th and Day 3 post op is awesome - getting to have protein shakes today. I have had about half of one so far. Taking it slow. Have lots of energy but not going to over do it. Can't wait to walk a bit today and enjoy life!
  14. I am day 2 post op and just am looking forward to gas pain going away now - ha but seriously - feeling better over all, small pants and tops, no - plus side of the store shopping
  15. I am at home feeling great! But I am tired still so I will be flopping around the house and taking naps. I believe the gas might almost be gone. Finally slept more than 1.5 hours at a time. Hospital staff was wonderful. What a great decision I have made!
  16. Hang in there for those still waiting on surgery this week! It is great on the other side - besides the gas pain - mine is almost gone. FYI - I had diarrhea before surgery and after - so much liquid! I really have no pain from surgery except the incision when I move a certain way.
  17. I feel like it is Christmas morning! I am so excited - not nervous at all. Yesterday was the hardest day of pre-op - not sure if it was because it was the second day of Clear liquids or because it was the day before surgery. I have lost a total of 31 pounds since July, 17 pounds on pre-op diet! To all my other sleevers having their surgery today: WE GOT THIS!!!! It is here and we will be amazing! To the others having it this week: Hold on your time is near! I report at 7:30. Getting my kids off to school and then hubby and I are heading to the hospital (in town). I am hoping that surgery will be about 9:30 ish. I will post as soon as I can back on this thread. Woo Hoo!!!!!
  18. I am on Monday as well - glad to know I can have the no sugar added Hot chocolate. I guess I maybe be a bit weird, but I am not nervous at all. I am ready to start this journey. The only thing bothering me is that I can't figure out how to change my ticker! ha REady to see everyone on the other side of surgery next week.
  19. I have been on shakes only since Tuesday and while I am not hungry I am sick of the sweet taste. I have been having broth at night to have saomething "salty". Clear liquids start on Saturday and I report Monday morning at 7:30. I am very excited and not nervous at all. I am down about 11 pounds since starting the pre-op diet. It will be a great new adventure!
  20. Yay - I am glad people responded! I am on day 9 of pre-op diet. I have a shake in the morning, then chicken (3-4 oz) and a green veg (2 cups) for lunch and supper. I am eating Jello when I need something in between. Peppermint tea seems to take away to sweet tooth. So far, I am feeling great. I have not had blook sugar problems at all. I have my pre-op dr appt tomorrow at 3:30. Hoping to get a time. What is the hardest for me at the moment is trying to plan out my classroom activities for a week for a sub! ha
  21. Just making us a new thread now that we have found each other. How are we coping with the pre-op diet? How is your "head" - who is nervous? How is the weight loss this past week? These are just some possible things you might want to post.
  22. Very excited for you and can't wait to hear how you are doing!!! Godspeed!
  23. First, I am excited that we are a HOT TOPIC! ha ha Second, I am so happy that there are a good number of us getting sleeved in the same week - what a support system! I am on day 5 of my pre-op diet. It has been ok. Sitting at lunch with my fellow teachers munching down on carbs is hard, but I just smile and eat my leafy greens and 4 oz of chicken. The sugar free Jello is a life saver. I know it is a non-food entity, but it makes me "think" I am eating sweets. So far I have lost 7 pounds in 4 days, and I am motivated!!!! Hope all of you are doing great as well! Jackie
  24. Finally got a date. Very excited - and so far on day 2 I have not hurt anyone on the pre-op diet! ha I only have liquids for Breakfast and have 3-4 oz of fish or chicken with green raw(2 cups) or cooked (1 cup) veggies for both lunch and supper. And all the sugar free Jello I can eat!
  25. OOOOOooooo - I am excited to say I am the 17th!!!! Started Pre-op diet yesterday
