    Family unsupportive?

It may be. For me I decided to give my family their time and space when it came to the surgery - I sought support from a therapist and found a great Facebook group for folks going through surgery at the same time. I found with this other support, I didn't need to worry my family when I had worries. It's hard for sure, but don't give up on yourself.

    Family unsupportive?

Yes, mostly it comes from a place of fear. If they are willing to go to a seminar you might find they will relax. My parents were against it and never agreed with it, but they are at peace with it now since they see I'm getting healthy and totally fine.

    Liquid Diet

It will get easier! Find a Facebook support group for fall surgeries that way you have people going through it with you and it's more personal. I belong to a July fb group and would not survive with out those folks.

    Not losing enough weight

I was sleeved July 24th and have lost 21lbs since surgery which is frustrating, but my doctor said 2lbs a week is perfect. Have you tried tracking your calories and adding in the gym? That finally broke my recent stall because I realized that I wasn't getting enough calories. Tracking in your head isn't as good as actually recording it in an app.

    So...I'm new here...

I second the advice of getting caffeine out of your system before surgery since withdrawals aren't pretty. Also the not buying the huge tubs of Protein since I bought three and I liked them before surgery, but now they disgust me! Also be your own advocate - I didn't want to rock the boat when my bariatric coordinator told me that she submitted to insurance and not to call her for two weeks since she was so busy only to find out at the end of that two weeks she had not really submitted. She told me not to call the insurance company directly, but I did and was approved within 10 days after it was really submitted.
  6. I think I had to pay like $60 when I quit, which wasn't too bad and that was nyc where gym memberships are typically $80 a month

    Miserable

Halloween - I was starving the moment I woke up from surgery and it may have been from acid, but food made it stop hurting so I believe it was a combo - anyways I couldn't take it after about ten days out, so I started adding 1/4 cup cottage cheese in and it made such a difference. I'm not saying you should go against your doctors plans, but I think it's important to listen to our bodies since we all heal at different rates. I also started soft food three weeks out, I'm 7 weeks out and don't have any issues.

Why do i feel like throwing in the towel :(

My case wasn't as bad, but I waited the two weeks after the doctors office had submitted only to call and find out that they had forgotten to submit. I threw a temper tantrum (by myself) and then sucked it up and waited another two weeks for the real submission. I'm a month out from surgery, but I still can't even look at the girl who lied to me when I go to the office. I was going to complain but was afraid it would mess about my surgery/billing somehow.

    Dont be a b***h

I think all the hormones being released as we lose weight combined with the need to find something to file the void of emotional eating might be behind some of the snarky posts. I love the title of this post

Got laid off 1st day back to work from surgery

I think you will be better off in the long run and will find something that makes you happy With that being said, I don't agree with the lawsuit mentioned by others, that will only bring you down. Get the unemployment and enjoy your extended recovery.

    Warning, Self Pity Party Ahead

I think it has a lot to do with height also. We aren't comparing apples to apples if one person is 5'4 and the next is 5'7.

    Cheating on Pre-Op

I was on an all liquid pre-op diet - which I followed strictly at least 10 of the 14 days. The other days I cheated with a hard boiled egg because I was so hungry. I lost about 13lbs and my doc said my liver was perfect. I have to say a couple times a day I would come on here looking for someone to justify cheating on my pre-op diet and I always had to take myself back from the ledge of food. I hate to say it but whatever you do pre-op, you will do post op unless you break the habits now.
  13. I'm only five days post-op and I don't regret it. I do freak out realizing I can't eat an entire pizza ever again. Lucky for me i know this addiction journey. I gave up alcohol 3 years ago, at first I was in disbelief I had really given it up. Then I went through the envy phase - why can everyone else drink and control themselves and I can not. It took a long time to not stare at others drinking or feel awkward going out in drinking environment. I just have to be patient knowing that I will soon enter my envy stage and it will take time before my mind stops craving the food and I move on.
  14. You literally read my mind - when I found out I was approved it was so anti-climatic for me. I started this journey to get approved last November so I'm just tired from jumping through the hoops. My fiancé was standing next to me when I found out and was surprised that I wasn't super excited. I think part of it is fear of actually going through with the surgery and the other part is a fear that something will come up in the next two weeks that will prevent me from getting the surgery. Maybe we are saving all our excitement for when we get skinny

    July 24th Sleevers!

Yes! I am July 24th also. I just started my liquid pre-op diet today. I'm starving and can't wait for July 24th to be here already!

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

That's my date too! I start my pre-op diet tomorrow which means we are officially two weeks away! Have you guys started yours too? I'm not going to lie, I'm getting nervous

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

July 24th here! I had my last meal out at a restaurant tonight before I start my pre-op diet, so weird to know I won't eat this much ever again.
  18. I second the ankle weights - you can buy them at Walmart and they are not obvious at all under a pair of loose pants. Just to be on the safe side since I was so close I wanted to have that BMI of 40, my doctor didn't notice.

    Border Safety?

Tamlyn - I use to work in San Diego and my former bosses wife works for the federal government - they told her that she should not enter Mexico because state/federal employes are targets for kidnappings. I'm not sure how strict they would have been had she decided to go into Mexico though. Good luck, I know this is tough because I want my fiancé by my side the entire time.

    Former Fatties! July Goals

I think some people may be overreacting here, I think the message came from a good place. Some people may not like the delivery, but I did and that's why I joined this forum to see a wide variety of people expressing themselves. This also scares me from expressing myself in the future for fear someone might not like what I have to say to the point Alex is "reminding" us of the forum rules because of the word "fatties"
  21. I am so disappointed - the bariatric coordinator told me when we spoke two weeks ago that she had everything and was going to submit for approval from my insurance company that day. I called today just to double check and see if any progress had been made with the approval. When I called today I got the other bariatric coordinator who told me that they had not even submitted! She looked at my file and said that indeed everything was set to be submitted and she wasn't sure why it had not been submitted already. She is going to submit tomorrow and now I will begin the waiting game all over again. This isn't the first time this girl has dropped the ball either.... My husband called the office because I was so upset and they weren't super nice to him although I heard the conversation and he was calm and not hostile or rude at all. I'm afraid they will now purposely delay it longer. Has anyone ever switched doctors at this point? Would they give all my information to another's doctors office? Any advice is appreciated!!!

    Gallbladder attack - OUCH !

Sounds very similar to my gallbladder attacks before I had it removed. Did you eat anything fatty before the attack? My attacks were all brought on by eating something really high in fat.
  23. I'm still pre-surgery, but everyone laughs when I tell them I can't wait to be able to cross my legs! My current right foot on the left knee isn't very lady like!

SMH..Is it the Dr. office or BCBSIL

I have BCBSnj and they didn't require a egd for approval nor has it ever been mentioned to me- mine was just submitted Wednesday so I'm in the waiting phase. Once I'm approved I know that the hospital will require further testing before the surgery. I have not had the best experience with my doctors office and surprisingly a good experience with my insurance, so I would call your insurance to find out if they do require it.
  25. I think judgey might be my new favorite word My parents are on this weird diet where they eat only apples for a day and then something else the next while drinking alkaline Water - they have been losing weight and don't understand why I won't do their diet instead of getting the surgery! It gives me nightmares of the grapefruit diet all over again :$
