  1. I had surgery on 10/9/07... 10cc band filled with 5cc's during surgery. 11/17/07 I had my first fill of 1.5cc's. Felt very little restriction.. it would come and go. 12/18/07 today, i had my second fill.. of .6cc's. I'm not felling any different.. but i'll let you know if the restriction kicks in.

  2. I was banded on Oct 9th.. And I have lost 15lbs between the preop liquid diet and now. I'm just not starting to eat more, and not feeling the restriction I had from surgery. I haven't lost any more weight.. Which surprises me, considering I am eating a lot less then I was before. I go for my 1st fill the day before Thanksgiving. -laughs- Cruel, I tell ya.. But I'm looking forward to it. I need to start losing before I start getting depressed. -s-

  3. I had to do the 6 month supervised "diet". Because I just qualified with the 41 BMI, I questioned my doctor about what would happen if i did well and lost weight during the 6 months. He said I probably wouldn't qualify. So I didn't lose weight.. I maintained my weight. The time actually went by quickly. We resubmitted everything to the insurance and I was approved, no questions asked. I hope it goes as smoothly for you. :)

  4. I have been banded 2 weeks today. Am I being impatient because I haven't lost any weight in the last week even though I'm sticking to plan, still feeling some restriction, and walking every night? I suppose the week prior to surgery and the week after spoiled me considering that I lost 15lbs during this time. Now, nothing.. i may have even put back on a pound or two. I'm sad..:cry My first fill isn't until the day before Thanksgiving.. 11/21.

  5. I also had to do the 6 month supervised diet before my insurance would approve me. I had just qualified with the 40 BMI at the start of the 6 months. So I worked to maintain, not lose the weight.. so i would still qualified when we resummited the paperwork again. I was surprised how quickly the 6 months flew by. Now I am a week Post Op and 15lbs lighter. It was worth the time, considering some insurance companies don't pay at all.

  6. I only had to do a week of the liquid diet before surgery. It was the hardest part of this whole thing. Even my doctor told me that the surgery and the weeks to follow would be a breeze compared to that week. And he was right..-lol- I went for my post op check up on wednesday.. and counting the week of liquids pre op.. and one week liquids post op...i had lost 15 pounds. So of course looking back on it all now... it was worth every gagging spoonful of low fat cream Soup..-lol-

Best of luck to all of you..

  7. I make shakes w/unflavored Protein (unjury) mix with yogurt & fresh or frozen fruit and bananas - yummy... I use that Protein Powder more than i do my chocolate... I never had a problem drinking Water even after surgery but i think that 1st week i did take sips -- only after my 1st fill did i have to slow down and now that's gone - I can gulp Water.

Can't wait for my 2nd fill - What is your doc's diet 3 days mushies then to soft?? That's pretty good - - I had 10 days full liquids - 10 days pureed - 10 days soft and then regular.

Truely though i eat mostly soft food t 90% of the time. I have to go back to full liquids the 1st week after a fill - i find if i make home made Soup i do ok - i can't stand the canned stuff after a couple of days.

I really need to check out the unflavored Protein. Have you heard of a protein that you can sprinkle on your food, instead of making a shake? I can't seem to find out what that is.

Here is my diet post op diet:

at least 3 days - Clear Liquids *crystal light, sugar free kool aid, wylers lite, diet lemonade, Propel, diet V8, Ocean spray light, Decaf coffee/tea and Protein Shakes

After 3 days I could add thicker liquids.. sugar free pudding, yogurt, skim milk sugar free hot cocoa, low fat cream Soups.. plus the Protein Shakes and Clear Liquids.

I will be on this until my doc appointment, which is one week pre op... this is when i will be advanced to a "blended" diet... which is pretty much food that can be broken down and liquified. I'll find out more what exactly that is on Wednesday. I do know that after I can tolerate the blended foods 3x a day.. i will be able to move to soft foods.. which includes fish, tender chicken, soft cook veggies. (No breads, cereals, raw veggies, or fruit with skins, fried foods, tough meat, nuts or seeds)

  8. It's getting easier to get the Protein Shakes in each day. I never thought I would say this, but I think I'm sick of chocolate. -lol- I did have my first PB last night.. Without thinking I took a big gulp of water.. Ouch! I can't wait to go back to the doc's and advance to blended foods.. once on those for a few days, able to keep them down for 3 days x 3 meals.. i'm good for some soft food. I'm not really hungry, I just miss chewing..-lol-

  9. Well it's Friday, and i'm feeling more like myself. The rash disappeared, but i'm still looking a little flushed. I called the doctor and he said it was normal, but if i thought it was getting worse, itchy or spreading to my full body then i should come in.

My surgery was on Tuesday at 4:00. I wasn't released from the hospital until 10:00 pm.. and since i live 2 hours from the hospital it was midnight before i returned home. That was a long, long ride. Wednesday, I slept.. sipped.. slept...slept some more. Thursday i was feeling tired, but made myself get up and get moving.. My back and head hurt but I assume that was from not being able to get comfortable when i was sleeping. I did drink more Water, protien and managed a little chicken broth.

Today, i feel even better..Still sore, but doing things around the house.. between the sipping and walking. So, each day is getting better. I've added sugar free Jello to the menu. A few more days and i'll be able to add some creamed Soup and yogurt.

I'm not scheduled to return to work until next Thursday, so i'm sure i'll be running marathons by then..:cheer2:

I'm glad to see that everyone is doing ok after their banding. The ones that waiting, you'll find it challenging.. but so rewarding to know you took this step to change your life for the best.

I haven't weighed in yet... I go for my dr. appt on the 17th.. so i'll update then..

  10. Hi everyone,

I am new to this board, and I have found a lot of useful information here. My surgery date is this coming Tuesday. I have been waiting for this day for quite some time now. My doctor has put me on a liquid diet for 7 days prior to surgery. This is sooo hard to do. My family has been very supportive in my decision to have this done, so I do feel fortunate for that. I'm anxious, nervous, excited and second guessing my decision as the time nears. I really want food... now. embarrassed.gif
