  1. I'm 2 weeks post op today from RnY and I have lost 31 lbs total. For the last few days though my weight has lingered at the same place on the scale...and no, I'm not neurotically weighing myself...is that normal to hit a little plateau so soon? Does anyone know why? Also, did you feel like you could advance your diet. Like this is my 2nd week of puréed and I think Friday I could try soft foods instead of waiting until Monday. I'm holding everything down just fine. Would that bother anything? Just curious...
  2. Hi All, I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op from RNY. For the last week and a half I've been stuck at the same weight! I was 286, day of surgery I was 273 and currently I'm 251. Is hitting a plateau this early on normal? What can I do, if anything, to jump start the loss again? I'm beginning to feel defeated... I'm drinking and eating my Protein and drinking lots of Water. Also, I keep getting food "stuck" it seems when I swallow. What am I doing wrong there? I am cutting and eating the tiniest bites and chewing well...at least I feel like I am. Lol Any help or encouragement to these 2 issues would be appreciated! Thanks much! Megan

    Popcorn

Why is it that you can't have popcorn? Is it hard to digest? I LOVE popcorn and I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op so I gather it'll be a long while for me!
  4. Tomorrow will be one week since I had RnY Gastric Bypass...to say I'm struggling is a total understatement. I have this tightness/pressure in my belly (still have my drain in...pulled Tuesday hopefully), diarrhea (how does that happen when I'm barely putting anything in my body), and nausea...really, it's only when I try to get my Protein shake down which is unbearable. I can't finish one. I'm tired and weak too. Is this normal? Tell me it will pass! I need some light shed. Everyone tells you their horror story and I'm tired of hearing them because so far, I feel like I'm living in one. I'm sure much of this is emotional too. I worry I'll never eat normal food again! I've never been so excited to advanced to pureed foods so I can have yogurt! Any suggestions or advice anyone could give would be appreciated. Also, is it painful or bad when they pull your drain? Please say no.
  5. Ok...mashed potatoes is just a supplement food to my protein. It's not all I eat but I can only do so much yogurt! Lol. Refried beans today for sure!
  6. Hi. I'm now almost 2 weeks out of Gastric Bypass surgery and I'm on a pureed diet now. Passed my Barium Swallow and had the drain pulled! Glad that's another step behind me. I have some questions... 1. I have HORRIBLE nausea often. I will think about food and get nauseous, walk by the kitchen and get nauseous, open the fridge and get nauseous...sometimes it comes with no trigger. Is this my body still healing? Someone PLEASE tell me it won't be like this forever. Anyone experience this? When did it go away? 2. Sometimes, lately when I eat (mashed potatoes, yogurt, etc.) I sweat right after. Is that just my body adjusting? Anyone experience this? 3. I'm not sure if I'm eating enough of the above in #2 because I'm SO afraid of overeating. I already threw up after a Calcium supplement caused dumping syndrome and the Barium contrast...that's twice. Ugh. So...seriously, will I know when I'm full. I don't ever feel hungry so I always feel like I'm force-feeding myself! Help! Megan
  7. I can speak to how you'll feel after...is it after yet for you??? I also had gallbladder removal and 2 c-sections! I thought I was in pain at first but by day 4-5, no pain or soreness. Just tightness. Was that your experience?

Newbie with a story to tell

Congrats to you!!! We had surgery on the same day and I, too, struggle with the protein shakes! I can't stomach them and am nauseous frequently :/. Good luck on your journey!

  10. Can you tell me more about the Isopure tea?? Does it taste like tea, is it chalky, easy to take down?? I love tea but hate these shakes 6 days post op!

    Regional St. Louis Information

Hi there! I'm in St. Louis and had gastric bypass 6 days ago w/Dr. Eagon at Barnes/Wash U. Can you tell me more about what a bariatric card is and how I get one? Thanks! Megan
  12. I'm 6 days post-op from Gastric Bypass and I will say...I did have the feeling like I was Veruca Salt on Charlie and the chocolate Factory because I felt like a ginormous balloon through my middle. Eventually, after I started walking around, the gas came out. I've never been so happy to fart. Burping on the other hand, that was touchy and kinda hurt. Now, not at all and like I said, I'm 6 days out. The CO2 is absorbed by your body if it isn't expelled otherwise. You'll be okay...you'll have other things to keep your mind occupied like the awesome new clothes you're going to buy!
