    Help,advice needed please

    No one should be eating 800 calls a day unless under doctor supervision. Aim for 1200. Did you know that not eating enough actually slows your metabolism? I got my metabolism tested (easy,) and it's lower than normal. I, too, was eating too little. I increased it, focus on protein snacks, cheese, cottage cheese, protein bars, etc. are you exercising? 800 is way too low, IMO.

    Woke a beast?

    I didn't lose a ton, about 70 lbs in 2 years, but after I lost about 50, my body started hurting. I assumed it was from exercising. Turns out I have arthritis in my bones. Knees and some in back and I'm guessing all over, but haven't been tested elsewhere. I exercise daily and I a, finding I'm having hip pain and some knee and back pain. After you lose weight, did anyone else's body just kinda go crazy like this? I feel like I woke a beast inside of me and although Im thrilled with the weight loss, I can't help but wonder why after losing weight, I feel worse than I did when I was heavy. Did anyone else go through so,etching similar?
  3. After getting lap and and being cleared to exercise, I started exercising faithfully. After about 8 months, my knees started hurting. I thought it was just normal pain from finally exercising so much. Turns out it's osteoarthritis. My doctor told me I can not exercise any longer. He told me I now have to strictly use diet to lose weight. He said I will need knee replacements but not until I'm in my 50s. I'm 32 I sank into a depression the past few weeks. He told me I shouldn't be doing anything other than resting my knee and taking it easy. This is so depressing to me, as I have 3 kids under 12. Took them to the waterpark the other day, and I paid for it greatly the next day. Because of the lap band, he says I can't take Motrin. He told me I should get the lap band out so I can take Motrin. I am hurting in so much pain yet I can't take anything. What kind of a life is this? Can I really be successful with diet only? I am so lost.
  4. I understand what some are saying. My doctor stated no elliptical, running, snow showering, skiing, heavy walking, jump rope, etc etc etc. he mentioned I could try swimming. The problem is I put all my worth in my weight and so I avoid going places because I don't like myself. Definitely can't swim now without anxiety attacks. I know it's something I need to work on. I bought an expensive elliptical, to use in my home. Now, it's worthless. It's what I used every day. This doctor does specialize in active people. His wife has OA and he told me that he was the one who runs with his kids, takes me to water parks, etc. his wife simply can not. And if she cared, she would lose weight. If I cared, I would lose weight. Through diet alone. He said it will be torture, but that I can do it. He said losing the weight may help the pain, but it will never cure it. Basically, it will delay surgery, but not avoid it altogether. I am glad to hear that many have lost weight throug diet alone. He said 90% of bodybuilding is done in the kitchen, 10% in the gym.

    Port pain on inside

    The area where my port is hurts on the inside. Also, is the hard part we can feel supposed to be about 2 inches? I was imagining the port being about the size of a dime. But the hard area seems bigger. I'm scared my port detached or flipped? My doc can't see me u til july 2 and it feels like I pulled a muscle inside? Maybe I did? I also feel a bit bloated. Unsure if it's related? Would my insides hurt if I got stuck? it seems like my band tightened up a tad. I'm ending my menstrual cycle, pretty much done, so I don't know. I'm concerned this pain...it's not horrible, but al last feels like when I used to run like crazy as a kid and ,y stomach would hurt? Please help!
  6. Yes! Because it's not like you can misdiagnose this. I've had an X-ray and MRI. So, while I could get a more positive and happy doctor, the diagnosis is the same. it is a chronic ordeal, it is depressing news to swallow!
  7. Yes, he is an orthopedist. He said I am fat and need to lose weight basically. He injected me today with hyaldin? It hurt awful. But I think it's helping a bit, but he still stressed that I can not be doing activities.

    Thank you so much for the replies. My port pain pretty much went away. Wondering if it was a pulled muscle or stitch ripped. Thankful for no pain there.

    I have this problem, but I believe it would happen occasionally before lap band, too. It only happens when the food rubs against it, sometimes I'm like what the heck, it feels like I'm eating a bristle brush! It's so weird and it feels like it's swelling and it can't be allergy unless it's a new, sudden one, because it happens with regular everyday foods! Always the first bite in the a.m.
  11. I am looking for people with excellent doctors to help me out. I feel like I am taking too many supplements. I have to take 2 calcium pills, vitamin K, a multivitamin, b12, 3 hair vitamins. Does anyone get enough vitamins from food? Is this what everyone takes? Thy have never blood tested me for my amounts, this is the standard for their office. If I don't have to ale all this stuff, I don't want to. I read calcium pils aren't good for your heart. I already have blood pressure issues. Please let me know what vitamins your dr requires? Tia.
  12. my husband likes me fat, he complains that he doesn't want me to lose weight, like the changes, etc. I can get over that, but he constantly buys food that he knows will trip me up. I am a food addict. I have pcos, my body craves sugar like crazy. I used to be addicted to soda. But after I got banded, I stopped drinking it. Yet, my husband can eat whatever he wants and he hardly gains. So, that means.... He buys my favorite soda and ice cream and frozen pies, chocolate bars, etc. It is very hurtful. I am not strong enough right now to resist. So, often...he gets what he wants. I screw up by eating it. I ask him not to buy it, I tell him its hurtful and his response is that it is my fault and its my problem. its my birthday Friday and I am going to request we stay home I usually request that we got get a great cake and eat, but I am too depressed to even want to do anything. He shoves food in my face all the time and gets angry if I dont eat it. I am just realizing that I really do have no one that cares about me but myself. And I do a bad job of caring about me! I guess I just wanted to vent.

    my fills are free, thanks to insurance! I had surgery 6-27-14 my heaviest weight was 273, then 268, last month I was 224. I am losing slooowww, but not giving up!

    Where in ca are you? I am inland empire. I had surgery 6-24, keep trying and definitely get fills! Fills at first feel useless, but once you get up there, it's great! Keep trying, get back to exercising and eating right, if you want a partner, I will help

    They must have. I appreciate your feedback, 66 views and one person replies. It's like I'm not in the cool club or something! lol Watch all the replies now They must be old school or something, because I was thinking the same thing. Why can't I get nutrition from food? I am concerned I am I taking too many vitamins and when I met with my dietician or nutritionist she gave me a for, again with vitamins and even tho it said for sleeve patients she says lap band is the same. Thanks again for the reply!

    bad habit?

    Good evening! I have to share something that I think is going to be horrific to banders. I HAVE to sip water when I eat to prevent getting stuck. Even chewing thoroughly doesn't help. I have to add water to moisten the food. My question is....is this like a really bad thing? Like am I starting a bad habit?? Or is this ok? Does this mean I am too tight? I don't slime or anything, I just really had an awful month where I got stuck horribly and was vomiting, felt like I was dying and so I developed this thing of sipping warmter with my food to moisten it. I want to make sure I get your thoughts before I continue on. I guess I develop a fear of getting stuck because I have a deep fear of vomiting because my body doesn't let me breathe and so I feel like I am suffocating during vomiting. So to avoid that, I may be doing so.ething very wrong aka sipping water. thanks in advance

    bad habit?

    It's basically everything that is dry. I can no longer eat cheeseburgers, the outside anyway. That's a good thing. But, mostly speaking, I can not have veggies, meats, toast, rice, without it causing an issue. I need a sip to moisten those things. I suppose this is an issue likely with my bites being too big. I need to take smaller bites. I am having such a hard time with things, I don't understand why....after 9 months I haven't been able to change this. It is frustrating. Yet, some people get it from day 1. I have serious issues with food. I have no idea how to feel like food is "enough" It's almost like my body doesn't get it until its "too much" and then I am miserable. I am setting myself up for failure. Why? I could kick myself. I was really trying to think as I wrote this post "why am I needing water?" and I realized because I don't take pinky fingernail sized bites like I should. It's my fault. Kind of embarrassing I didn't see that until now.

    I do not eat ice cream or other bad foods that easily slip thru the band, but I eat regular food and most of it needs a bit of moistening, unless I make a soup of course. Just to clarify that I am not only eating slider foods.

    I am losing weight. Not as fast as I wish, but these 9 months have been hard on me as far as breaking habits of eating slow, learning full signals, eating small meals more often rather than 3 large meals a day, making better food choices, etc. I have lost about 50 lbs in 9 months and I am hoping now I am at my green zone.

    Kelly, I just wanted to tell you that I love you, even though I dont know you. Your post broke my heart. Definitely check with your surgeon and then find out if you at all were given an Ng tube. If you ever want to talk, I am here! My husbands step dad killed himself and I just want you to know that the hard times do go away. Sometimes we need help to help them go away, but God has a plan for your life, sweet girl. Just keep going

  24. Good evening! I am 7 months out & stuck at 40lbs. I know part of it was my fault - I went off the wagon dec15-jan15 because my knees are killing me! that being said, I recommitted myself and was taking a look at my diet. I was thinking 1800 calories was good. Reading around, I see many people say 1,000 calories. so, ask my doctor, right? I called my doctor's office and told them I needed guidance. But, the problem I am having is: My doc office doesn't suggest calories. They simply ask you to make sure you get 80g protein/day, 5g of sugar less in fats and sugars. I am so confused. I really need meal plans, what is my breakfast supposed to look like? What can I eat for supper? Who wants to constantly eat chicken breast? Ahh! I looked online for cookbooks and meal plans and for some reason, I cant find hardly anything! I am sorry if this is asked a lot, I really just need help! All along, I was thinking...ok...i can eat anything, just in small amounts. So, if I make spaghetti, I would eat spaghetti. Yet, I am supposed to eat hardly no noodles, right? my dietician said 3 bites protein, 1 bite veggie, 3 bites protein, 1 bite starch, 3 bites protein, I bit fruit. Repeat repeat repeat. is this what you guys do, too...or does this sound odd. I thank you for any guidance! mi
