    Flavoured yoghurt?

I am allowed but honestly my taste buds have changed so I can only eat the plain greek yogurt

    out of control.

I put on 10 lbs before surgery-and then had to loose 18 lbs before they would perform the surgery My Dr counted the weight I had on the day I first saw him, the weight I had to loose was initially 8 lbs but because it takes a while to do all the testing and getting approval I gained 10 more lbs. In April I had to start dieting I had 5 weeks to loose the weight by my pre op check in-or surgery would be cancelled. I did manage to loose it thank goodness
  3. Jimmy Johns do lettuce wraps if you choose the turkey it is a really healthy option plus delicious I have been craving one and plan to have it once I am on normal foods

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

I am totally on same page as you! I too felt sad (unreal I know) that I could no longer eat what I wanted-almost 3 weeks out now and I don't feel the same loss as I felt the first week. I never expected to feel a loss so it made me very quiet and withdrawn. I don't have a sweet tooth, I have a savory one-miss salty foods but not like I did. I just have to focus on my goal, improving my health and stamina. I haven't done more than walk yet in my exercise routine but I haven't had the energy-will do more starting monday

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Hi I am a RN from Ohio-I work for a large dialysis company and travel all over Ohio for my company. I have been a nurse for 25 years and worked in UK and US-where I currently live. I had my sleeve done on 2nd June 2014-Plan on taking 4 weeks off due to the long distance driving Cant say I have bounced back as quick as I would like but I do think that is a good thing for me as I am normally running around doing everything I shouldn't. So pleased to see lots of other nurses on here! I too am dreading how to manage fluids and foods once I go back to work

THIS is how the first 4 weeks go...

Great thread thank you! I too am lacking in energy 2 weeks and a couple of days post surgery I am glad a lot of people struggle with drinking the fluids No pain for me after first 4 days-I was able to sleep on my tummy again Cant drink Protein shakes so eat a lot of high protein soft foods and I found a great tuna mousse which I added beneprotein to and it tastes fantastic. Beneprotein has no taste and can be added to anything 6gms protein with each scoop

Yes the cravings go away-the first week it was all I could think about what I was missing-now I am ok I just focus on what I can eat

    Obese Kids

I have 4 children 3 are super slim 1 my youngest is 13 and she is overweight for her age-from birth she had an incredible appetite, and will eat anything I have had this sleeve done to improve my health and eating habits so that I show my daughter the right way. By this I don't mean surgery-as I haven't told her what I have done-but to show her good healthy food choices My husband went on a diet he was slightly overweight so in our house, all bad snack foods have been eliminated and healthy Snacks put in their place The healthy eating started in April and without starving her she is down 7 lbs and is not gaining any weight at this time.

How soon did you return to work?

I am taking a month off! I have a very demanding job and I do lots of traveling so it was not recommended I go back to work quickly. It take 6 weeks for the sleeve to heal 90% so no lifting until after that time
  10. I think my Dr and my NUT are strict when I read what everybody is allowed to eat on here. They only give you a list of the foods they want you to eat which takes you to your next appt with them I am 2 weeks post op and the list of allowed food covers me until 6 week appt All food had to be pureed and you try one new food at a time, to see if you react to it or not-then it can be eliminated if you do react to it. My Dr said after the 6 weeks food still has to be pureed for another 6 weeks but more food is allowed. I am following it to the letter because I do not want to fail-I am nervous that if I don't follow the directions given to me that there is a chance my stomach won't heal as it should or I could expand my stomach. I went to a support group meeting where the leader of the group said that she never ever eats any food which she ate to excess in her pre surgery life, because she cannot trust herself to fall back on old behaviors. She has kept her weight off for 7 years, she looks super slim and you cannot imagine she was ever obese

    3.5 weeks out

I have no clue how fast the weight should come off to be truthful, as long as the scale is going down I am happy I plan on it taking a year I am thinking of it in long term rather than short
  14. Two weeks today I had my surgery June 2nd to be exact, it has been an experience to be truthful No complications, pain eased by day 4-5, slight setback with mouth and throat ulcers which were very very painful and made it difficult to swallow When I do too much or I eat something which is not pureed or dry food-My body responds and makes me feel ill so I know not to do that again I am focused on getting 6 small meals a day-64 ounces of H2O in but that is not as easy as it sounds if I could drink like before I would be able to but you have to drink small sips and not gulp it down. Listening to my body and what it is telling me is something I am becoming better at. The first 10 days I craved food but that craving has gone away thank goodness-I am now focused on eating high Protein food which is very savory, I do not have a sweet tooth at all. I do feel hungry, the small meals leave me feeling contented As you should take 30 mins or more to eat your meals, I have to dip my spoon in and lick the food off-this way it takes me 30ish mins. I absolutely hate the shakes because they are so sweet so I have turned to Beneprotein which is tasteless. I am loosing 1 lb daily sometimes every 2 days-My weight loss since surgery is about 17 lbs

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

1 week and 3 days post op and I am feeling more or less back to normal. I think I should have kept a blog about my journey so may well start one. The hardest thing for me up to now is 'the mind games' I am trying really hard to control it. This web site has really helped me

    Goal Weight

I just kinda guessed at 145

    Coffee

I was told that Coffee was a stimulant which could cause problems with your sleeve and healing. I stopped Coffee 6 weeks out from surgery, plus soda. It was easier than I thought but I only drank 1 cup a day. I have not tried decaf coffee in the past 10 days post surgery as I guess I am used to not drinking it anymore. My NUT said 6 months before I can have normal coffee and I am counting down the days

    Very disappointed!

I certainly do not think that deciding to have WLS a walk in the park-I did think it would solve all my problems and I have just come to the understanding that it won't. I will still continue to have to watch my weight for the rest of my life, diet and exercise. I did think I wouldn't crave or feel hungry but I do. The last time I was 145 was when I was in high school-I am praying that I will be that weight again one day and then instead of managing 120lb weight problem i will focus on a 5 lb one I have told only a few what i have done-I just didn't want to listen to their 'helpful' advice I told my cousin and she said 'Oh no I will have to diet now as i can't have you slimmer than me" Really!
  19. I am having the same feelings as you! The battle with my mind-I never expected to crave food but I do.
  20. I am dying to eat eggs-I am only 8 days post op-when can you usually start eating them? I am only eating 3oz at the moment does this amount increase? Or is 3 oz's all I will ever be able to eat?

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers
