    Prolapse with A & P repair

Stamps were S&H Green stamps . A&P was a chain in new england thru around 2005 Yet another person has a better memory than I do. My Mom used to lick them and stick them into booklets! hate it when the CRS kicks in! lol My Mom used to get those sheets of stickers too. We had a S&H...and my aunt had an A&P (we'd go there when visiting). Both long gone from 'round here.
  5. that just doesn't sound right to me. I have BCBS, but MA. They have paid for all of the appointments and test so far (we co-pays). Have you called them?

    Surgeon told me...

I've only been told to take small bites and chew chew chew. I've been practicing, and I didn't realize how much of a chaange I'd made until going out to dinner with work folks last night. I looked up from my half full plate to see everyone else done and I was still eating. I used to be the first one done! They had the joy of talking while I finished my dinner. (I was careful what I ordered, knew my portion size, all ready entered in MFP, etc. so I was going to finish!) I'm sure it will be different to a degree once I'm post-op because the portion size will be so much smaller. But I think there's something to be said for starting to apply these practices early on.
  8. Yah, I've gotten this question. Perfect answer. And that's exectly why I need this. I need the lifelong tool.
  9. There's just SO many things, LOL. When you stop to really think about it, being obese really messes up a lot of things. You guys hit on so many!! I'll finaly get rid of my "fat" clothes - I have so many sizes for when the weight came back each time I've failed a diet. To eat around others without feeling like peole might be paying attention to what I eat. Not to be on the sidelines when others are having fun, when it's little go carts, bumper boats, etc. Wear some sexy clothes for my DH and actually feel sexy,

    Quest Protein Bars

I do really like these. I'm pre-op and hope I still like them post op. I can't pick from the full array of Protein bar options because I have to stick to gluten free. These are. Conveneint, lots of quality protein, fiber, low on carbs, lots of yummy flavors...what's not to like? I do work to eat "real" food. But they're great to keep in the house/car/lunch bag, etc. for when I need something or my plans don't work out.

    help ! I'm sick

Yuck, so sorry to hear! I think there's something going around. I am just recovering from an illness that started with a killer sore throat. Thought strep too at first because there were no cold symptoms. Also no fever. Then two days in it hit me. Sorry to say it's been about ten days and still not 100%. I ended up with a sinus infection but that's typical for me. Hang in there. Rest. Fluids. Sudafed. Robatussen. More rest. Take care of yourself!!
  16. I think I'd be more worried about the acid from the tomatoes on my healing tummy. Definitely run it by your NUT. Be curious to know the answer.

    BCBS OF MA

JenSul - anytime The policy should state exactly what the requirements are. They may differ by employer. But I hope yours is a simple as mine - for BMI of 35-40 one comorbidity and NO supervised weightloss plan. When I told the NP who I have for insurance, she said they're wicked easy to work with. Didn't expect any problems.
  18. Thanks both! After taking a second dose of medicated syrup last night a got a few hours of rest. Coughing is better (less) today. It's also day three of the z-pack. I tend to get sinus infections if I get a cold (stuff just doesn't drain for me) and after hauling me in enought times over the decades, my doctor will trust that if I say I blowing out or coughing up (TMI) green stuff, he'll treat it as such. Hoping that's still all it was. (I have no problem getting checked out) Keeping my fingers crossed I bounce back and don't mees up my surgey date.
  19. So here I am 5 weeks out from my surgery date, and three weeks out from my pre-op tests. I've never had bronchitis before, but being the internet ninja that I am, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. What are the odds I'm over it in time? I'm going to start to stress over it. I'm presuming an anesthesiologist isn't going to clear someone who's getting over something like this. Does anyone have any advice on how to get through this quicker? The cough is driving me insane. These nights of getting to sleep at 4am are killer. I've been sleeping in a recliner for almost a week (laying down makes it much worse). Called my doc (pcp) today and he gave me cough syrup with codeine to take before turning in. Yup, it's 1:30 am...it's not helping. I guess it's my special gift from air travel last week.

    BCBS OF MA

Hi I have BCBS-MA. They were very helpful and informative when I called to inquire about bariatric coverage and promptly emailed me the relative policy which I brought to my consult. I was told at my consult that they are extremely easy to work with. They also base their approval on your starting weight. Unlike some insurance companies that go by your weight the day of surgery. This would be relevant if you are at a 35 BMI and just qualifying - you would then have to be careful not to dip below that. Not with BCBS-MA. I've had lots of appointments/tests going through the program, and they've paid for everything (minus appropriate co-pays). That's about all I've had to go through with them so far.

    August Sleevers Check In

Mine is August 14th. I go in for my pre-op appts on the 31st. It's not that far off now...eek!
  23. This is a timley topic for me. I actually just changed from RNY to Sleeve. Let me share what I just went through. I had my surgeon's appt last week. He said to me "if you were my sister, I'd tell you to have the sleeve". That totally took me by surprise. I was 100% going with RNY. I was prepared for what came with it. I've done a ton of reading, etc. this past week, and I have to agree with him. (guess that's why he's the surgeon) I'm going with the sleeve. I'm 51, have 70lbs left to lose, cholesteral issues, and type 2 diabetes. He is confident I will be just as successful with the sleeve without the risks associated with the RNY. Although I have no wish to go through this again, the sleeve can be revised to a bypass. But I just assume think of this as a one shot deal. I wish you the best of luck in which ever you decide.
  24. Thanks for all of the feedback everyone I must admit I am seriously considering making the switch to the sleeve. I'm off to my son's wedding in FL in the a.m. Lots to think about. Will have until mid-July to advise the surgeon's office of my decision.
  25. I saw my surgeon yesterday (finally, yay!). My date has been booked all ready, I've been looking at RNY from nearly the beginning, for a couple reasons: I'm diabetic (type 2), I have to confess to having a sweet tooth AND a weakness for chips (therefore I would not have been upset if I was a dumper). I also felt that the more history there was about it, the better. Not a knock on the sleeve, just the way it is. After talking with my surgeon for a while and going over my history, health, etc., he said I should consider the sleeve instead. He thinks I would be just as successful. He believes just dropping 30# will get my diabetes in to remission alone. (it's pretty well controlled with minimal metformin) I just don't know! ugh! I've done so much reading/ research on the RNY, and now I feel like I'm starting over to make an informed decision. I understand that with the sleeve there's no re-routing/by-pass of the small intestine (e.g. no stoma from the stomach). Are there still any malabsorption issues? Thanks for any input! "undecided"
