  1. I am nearly a month post-op but can totally identify with those of you who are hungry. I am starving all of the time, I lost 13 pound in the first week and 9,5 at my three week visit. Since then I have gained back 2 pounds and always feel the need to eat. I have to wait another two weeks until I can get my first fill. I am hoping against all hope that I will feel restricted again like I did in the beginning. I was never hungry and ate because I know I needed to. Now I find myself literally watching the clock until I can eat again. I haven't given in to the urge to snack yet but I sure do want to have a little something in between meals. I'm assuming that this is a normal part of the process and it's a comfort to know that I'm not alone!
  2. I know exactly what you went through, I didn't go to the bathroom for about a week after surgery. I asked my doctor at my one week check-up if I should just wait for it like Christmas (cause eventually it comes) or try to do something about it. He suggested taking a mild laxative whenever I thought it was necessary. Things worked themselves out sooner or later and I haven't had any trouble since. I'm not what I would consider regular yet but that is probably due to the fact that I am taking in so much less food than I was prior to sugery and there is bound to be less "output" than before. I've found that milk of magnesia works wonders whenever I need it.

    Banded for 21 days

I was SO SO hungry after the first two weeks that I actually called my doctors' office and asked it it was normal to want to chew the legs off of my table...lol! The nurse assured me that it was indeed just one of the things that I will have to go thru during this process. She explained to me that the hunger is most likely a result of the swelling in my stomach going away (which is a good thing) She suggested a sugar free jello if I couldn't stand the hunger between one meal and the next. I opted not to have any and suffer through. It only lasted a few days maybe a week tops. I am a month post surgery and eating solids now and hunger really isn't an issue anymore. I have taken up a few new hobbies since my surgery and have found that if I am beginning to feel hunger creeping in and I"m not "supposed" to eat yet that I can pick up my crocheting and distract myself until it passes. It seems to work for me.
  4. I had the worst time sleeping for about a week after my surgery. I am a stomach sleeper primarily and it was very difficult to sleep on my back, I even tried laying on my side but it was too painful at first. I would say that it was at least two weeks until I could sleep comfortably on my side and even longer until I could lay on my belly. I am a month post-surgery and have no trouble sleeping on my stomach at all anymore! My port doesn't hurt either. I think you'll do fine if you can stand being a little uncomfortable for a little while.
  5. Hello everybody! I am newly banded (sept 13) and have had wonderful results so far. I have lost a total of 27.5 pounds in about three weeks. I feel so much better than before the sugery. Yesterday I walked with my daughter up the hill to cheerleading practice and didn't get winded. I can't remember the last time I didn't struggle just to get half-way up! I heard about this site from a lady in my support group and had to give it a try. Despite the fact that my family and friends are very supportive and encouraging I feel as though I don't have anybody to talk to about what I'm going through. I hope to meet some new online friends who are sharing this experience to chat with.
