  1. I can eat anything I want even though I have some restriction. I'm sure things will change with my next fill but to be honest I'm looking forward to it. Because it's a gradual process you actually start looking at junk food as your last option when considering what to eat. Don't let it scare you off, you'll be fine.
  2. I have a bottle of water on my desk and in my bedroom but I still forget to drink regularly. I drink other things, eg, green tea. I also eat fruit which I believe contributes to my water intake. I definitely need to make more of an effort. I will set up a calendar reminder on my work computer so it comes up every hour... that will make it at least 7 glasses a day. Mobile phone reminders can work just as well... may as well use our great technology to help.
  3. Congratulations Mick, that is awesome and in such a short time. It is a great tool and I look forward to getting the rest of my excess weight off. If truth be known, I need to be much stricter with myself if I want to get it off sooner. I walk an hour pretty much every day which helps but I my food intake could be better.
  4. I definitely need to be reminded. I even put reminder in my mobile phone the other day but still a bit lax.
  5. Congratulations on your 100 lbs loss! Gives me hope. Awesome!
  6. I'm staying on plan today because even though I haven't weighed myself I feel like I may have lost some weight.
  7. I lost 29 lbs in the first 6-7 weeks but haven't lost anything since. My first fill didn't help much so I pretty much ate what I wanted. I had my 2nd fill a couple of days ago and it seems to be working.
  8. Hey Lizzie nice to see you're back. I had been out of control since xmas, so you're not the only one. I haven't had too much to eat today but I'm not as restricted as I thought, so another 1cc would really help. I will be making another appointment to see my doctor in about 3-4 weeks. I am definitely not hungry but like most people, if I can eat, I will. The idea is not to get out of control again... so far so good.
  9. I've never been a big meat eater Shortgal, that's why my iron levels are always low, even with supplements. Yesterday wasn't a good eating day, I usually have baked beans, tuna, eggs etc at least once or twice a day. Really going to make the effort from now on... would love to get another big chunk of weight off soon.
  10. Restriction is great but you still need to make the right food choices. I thought I hadn't eaten too much yesterday but when I counted the calories, I found I had gone to about 1500+... will certainly be keeping an eye on that today. I want to do around 1000 cals each day.
  11. I'm staying on plan today because I ate too many cals yesterday, despite my newly found restriction. I will make better food choices.
  12. I totally recommend accupunture for these types of problems. I had a really bad knee (stiff and sore) for about 6 months after doing line dancing classes... I had aggrevated an old problem. I went to physio, chiro to no avail. After 1 session with the accupunturist I could bend it again and walk up and down stairs. I had a number of sessions to help strengthen it. He worked on both knees since I have very little cartilege left. Haven't had any problems with them since... after many years I can kneel again. Make sure you find someone who is recommended by other people. My guy is a doctor and he worked wonders with me and people I know. No harm in giving it a try.
  13. I told all my family, friends, boss and close work colleagues. Most were supportive but had a couple who didn't think I should do it but in the end it was my decision. I understand how your wife feels but in the end it is your body and quality of life which you must consider. Good luck with your decision.
  14. Congratulations to everyone who's made it to onederland!
  15. My food choices today weren't the best but felt restricted. Breakfast/mid morning: 1 banana Late morning: Skim latte Lunch: Spinach & Ricotta cheese pastry roll; 1 small peach Afternoon snack: 1/2 scone with very little jam & cream (work meeting) Dinner: Small piece of fried chicken breast (1 oz); 8 Water crackers with spring onion dip; 1 small peach Snack: 1/2 cup jelly & light custard Snack: 1 mini frozen yoghurt stick I couldn't believe how many calories I had today, even though I didn't think I ate too much... 1500. It just shows that we really have to think about what we put in our mouths, no matter how small it looks. :frown:
  16. Finally some restriction for me. I have 5cc in a 10cc band. I didn't have to do liquids after the fill, just soft foods. Had less than 600 cals yesterday and today has been pretty good as well. This is definitely going to help get the weight loss moving. I think another cc or two should really bring me to the right point. Only time will tell. I know what you mean about meds Steph, I was worried about taking them yesterday but they went down okay. I can imagine with more restriction it will get harder.
  17. Definitely happy so far... only 1 day. I'll know better after a few days.
  18. I was amazed at how much I lost in the first 6 weeks. Everyone is different with their loss but eventually most people get their weight off.
  19. If only they knew the truth. I am lucky because the people around me don't feel that way. If anything they are supportive and interested in what stage I am at. They now know all the ins and outs of banding.
  20. I'm staying on plan today because I finally got my second fill and I want to meet my Valentine's Day goal.
  21. Most people are on liquids for 2 weeks or more. I was 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks mushies. That's when I lost most of my weight. Hopefully things will get moving again after today's fill. Good luck during this period.
  22. I was thinking about you as well Longhorn. Glad to hear your restriction is good. I've eaten very little today but not hungry, so that's great. I haven't eaten solids yet but so far no side effects either. I feel so much better after all those weeks of no restriction. Shortgal I'm sure your time will come. I waited so long to get this, hope it lasts. I was told to go back in 4 weeks to see how I'm going.
  23. Bandsters hell is what I've been going through the last 3+ weeks. Definitely the period where you no longer have restriction and can eat anything and everything and all that good work done in the first 6 weeks or so looks like going out the door. Lucky I only put on very little which should easily fall off now that I've had my 2nd fill.

Very very sad. I heard on the way to work and couldn't believe it. Another Aussie lost to us and so young... his poor parents & family. My heart goes out to them.
  25. Today was my band fill day, now have 5cc in a 10cc band. I definitely wasn't feeling hungry today. Mid morning: 1 mug of Sustigen (protein shake) Late morning - Lunch: 1 banana Mid afternoon: 1 skim latte Dinner: 1/2 avocado; small baked potato with light cream cheese Snack: 1/2 cup jelly, 2 slices of canned peaches & light custard Calories: 480 approx Hopefully if I can maintain my intake, I should be able to lose 10 lbs in the next couple of weeks.
