Okay everyone! Guess what?!? Insurance approved my panniculectomy surgery today!!! Whoohoo! It didn't even take a week! I'm so thrilled and shocked because I have heard how hard it is to get it covered. So August 27th is the big day! I will be having the panniculectomy with fleur de lis abdominoplasty and breast implants done all together! I'm so excited! It's going to be the best birthday present ever! I will be 26 on the 23rd of August.

I drank milk every day from day two post surgery on. I still have a glass as snack three every night. It's high in Calcium, 8 grams of Protein. My team really encourages milk. I am 1 year out and 136 lb loss from my highest weight so I say if you tolerate it, it should be good.
    A typical day for me:
Breakfast: Protein smoothie with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury vanilla, 1/2 cup milk and either 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened berries or PB2.
    Snack: greek yogurt
Lunch: 3 ounces grilled chicken, arugula salad with white balsamic vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon olive oil.
Snack: cheese stick and small piece of fruit or carrot and celery sticks
Dinner: 3 ounces of chicken or fish or beef (I limit beef to once a week) with a vegetable and maybe small (less than 1/4 cup) potato dependent on protein.
Snack: glass of milk or greek yogurt. Typically I am not hungry at this point but my team want something small to keep metabolism revved through the night.
    I hope this helps!!
In the beginning when still on liquids and even mushies I drank 2 and sometimes even 3 glasses of milk a day.i was lucky and never got lactose intolerant like some post rny patients. Oh and my 1 year bloodwork was perfect.

I am so excited, I set a goal for myself to be at 300 on surgery day. I got on the scale this morning and I weighed 298. I haven't been in the the two hundreds in years.

Can you all believe I started this thread on March 26th...and here we all are, sharing our stories, getting to "know" each other...on this journey together! It's so amazing....
If anyone would like to share phone numbers to text message each other, I am game for this..Sometimes we are not always able to check this/keep up with it and honestly I know I need all the support I can get! It's like a 2014 PenPal

More than half way through the month. It will fly by for those of you still waiting. I keep popping in from time to time to see how everyone is doing.
yesterday was my two weeks post op. I lost 22 lbs since surgery. Everyone is different and what they go through. but I had absolutely no pain at all even having the 3 surgeries in one day. also I cheated a few times the 2 weeks before. even one week before on Memorial Day I was out of control. So don't feel like if you fall that you can't get back up there.
I hope that's encouraging. I was really scared before i went in and I didn't need to be. Take a deep breath and know that you're almost there.

My surgery was March 11, and everything is going well. Losing weight fast and already able to eats some very soft food. Up to a mile a day on the treadmill. I'm a guy, 57, and have a blog at WordPress.com called BariatricMan. Men might be interested in my story - there are a few of us! Glad to share my experiences and the little knowledge I have.

I just got home from the hospital today. Surgery was yesterday at 1pm. It all went well.
I have not experienced any issues with gas yet. I feel ok and was ready around 730am to go home but of course didn't get to lol.
Slight pain on my stomach but I have been walking anyway. It is not as bad as I was thinking. I am happy and excited now.
On full liquids. I already had some cream of wheat and light vanilla yogurt. Mixed together was way better than by itself.
Good luck to you all having surgery soon.

The scale is not our friend!!! It can drive you crazy. So can comparing yourself to people on the boards. Take the helpful advice and leave the weight loss comparisons alone. We all wish we could lose 40 pounds in the first 3 weeks but that's just not reality for the majority of people. I am 9 weeks yesterday, and just now got to 40 pounds. And trust me when I tell you, that's plenty fast!!! My skin thinks it's a bit too fast!

That first week was rough, I'm not gonna lie. I asked myself what I was doing a thousand times. The pain goes away, your energy returns and the food and eating get better. You just have to take it one day at a time and remember why you wanted this. And use a heating pad!

I had my surgery yesterday and came home today. So far so good. Just pain in my stomach and can't seem to determine whether it is from incisions or gas.
Started full liquids today and going ok so far.

Everything your feeling is completely normal. Right now you should be concentrating on getting your liquids and walking. Your tummy is still swollen, that's the pain your feeling on the left side. It does go away, give it time. As for feeling hungry, you shouldn't feel that way now. Most "hunger" is in your head now, your tummy doesn't know what hungry is. Remember that if you eat foods that are sugary or fatty you'll most likely get sick, so keep reminding yourself of that. Also, it's way to soon for you to even consider solids, you'll definitely make yourself sick. Use this time to try to wrap your head around your new life without food. I eat on a schedule no because I'm rarely "hungry", I eat because I have to and I only eat what's in plan and good for me. At 3 months I can barely get in 3/4 of a cup of food so I need to make sure what I eat is good stuff. When I "think" I'm hungry I drink fluids, more times then not that's what my body wants. If that doesn't work, I go for a little walk or try to find something to keep myself busy. You need to retrain your brain to not focus on food so much, that's what got you to this point. The surgery works, but you need to be in control, you can't turn your back on it or let anything slide. Stay strong, drink your fluids, get up and moving......you're going to be amazed at what your body will do for you. Best wishes.

Yeah, I am good with pudding and Jello. Protien drinks I like to walk and drink as they seem to make me burp. What is odd is I do not like the chocolate and pre-surgery I would only do chocolate. So I am wondering if my taste of chocolate has changed. Also I hated broth, but now can not get enough of.
Have any of you run into things you do not like or now like?

I had surgery yesterday at about 2pm. I got home today at 2pm. I was started on full liquids before lunch at the hospital today. Best Tomato Soup ever! Just saying.
I was a little worried about the after surgery pain, but mostly I was worried about complications during surgery that would abort my bypass. So when my husband said the surgeon told him everything went fine, I was definitely relieved. I had a major Migraine, probably triggered by the anesthesia. I was tapping the morphine button every few minutes just waiting for the beep that told me it was delivered (every twelve minutes according to my nurse). During this time I was drifting in and out of a drug induced sleep.< /p>
But by 8pm the migraine went away and I stopped pushing the button. After that I didn't have any morphine or any other pain medication at all (some are set to get a low dose and are allowed to increase with the button, but mine was set to only deliver if i pushed the button).
I had three, just three, incidents of nausea. I breathed in to the barf bag (is there a better word for that?) for a minute and it passed. Nothing since the last time, which was in the middle of the night last night.
Today, i walked a few times, and the last time I could feel a bit of pressure/pulling/pain in my abdomen, but it was minor. I had more pain from being in that bed, barely able to move for nearly 24 hours than I did from the surgery. Before I came home I felt a little gas pain in my shoulder.
But that was it. It's been a very good experience. The only exception was when the IV blew and had to be redone, my veins are tricky and it took 7 attempts to get the second IV in. My arms are covered in little bruises. But I always have troubles with getting IV's.
I feel good. I keep looking at the 5 little gauze pads on my stomach, pretty much the only evidence so far that I had surgery. I keep wondering... did I really get the bypass? I don't feel different. But I am not breaking my phase 2 diet to find out. lol
