Where are all the Canadians ?

Just giving everyone an update on me! Just shy of 6 months post op, down 75lbs, 15 more pounds to go for my goal. I have never felt so good!

Congrats elisabeth1968! How are you feeling now? I had the sleeve done Feb 2, and am down 50lbs as of today! Another 30, and I am ideal. I have been trying quinoa lately. (Boiled in Beef broth with Broccoli florets) Super high in protein!

Where are all the Canadians ?

I had my sleeve surgery Feb 2 in Red Deer, Alberta, and down 41lbs. The first 2 weeks after surgery were challenging (trying to figure out my new normal), but now I feel fantastic.

@@bigbattynatty Thanks so much! Out of all the pre-op classes, nothing really prepares you for the real deal!

Quick question for anyone post op: How rapidly did you lose weight? I am a little spooked. I am down 12lbs and I am 5 days post op. It just seems really fast. I am not complaining, just a bit bewildered. One thing I am finding is drinking most things even slowly, I feel like I have a bubble in my chest for about 5-10 seconds. Knorr chicken broth has been a godsend.

Had my surgery in Red Deer, Alberta yesterday at 2:30pm. Last night was brutal! The antibiotic they started me on I ended up being allergic to, and the Fentanyl made me super sick and doped out. Things started improving a lot early this morning when I asked to be cut back to just anti inflammatory pain meds, and regular Tylenol. Started sipping Water this morning as well, and have eaten a few bites of Jello. So not hungry, but I am trying! I have been walking as much as possible, but still have gas pains. And coughing a bit from the anesthetic. I am going home tomorrow, which I am very happy about! The staff here were so amazing. Dr Gregg is awesome!

Ok ladies, I got my call! They had a cancellation, and my surgery is set for Monday in Red Deer! I am freaking out a bit! (In a mostly good way) Wish me luck! Hello new life!!

Things are very different in Alberta. You get weighed at every appointment. And until you meet the surgeon and he gives the go ahead, it is not a guarantee. When you get accepted into the program here, that is just the program and not necessarily surgery.

Ivanova8, welcome! I am in the same situation as you. I almost got removed from the program because my BMI almost wasn't as high as the requirements. You need to make sure your surgeon approves you before making any changes, because you run that risk. My surgery is in December, and I am thrilled. I have terrible knees and high blood pressure. Good Luck! I am in Calgary.

Awesome! How did it go? How long from when you had your scope to surgery date was it? My scope is on June 26 in Red Deer.
  13. I am! I have my scope on June 26! ????
