Sometimes I feel like I'm crossing a fine line between showing off and being proud. Between bragging and inspiring others. I was hesitant to post this, still not used to the comments but I'm trying to get passed all that.
I am proud of where I am and am happy to help others in any way I can.

I too am 5'5" with a starting weight of 238 lbs so pretty close to yours.
I lost 100 lbs and although I do have some sagging skin, I don't think it's noticeable. I lost slowly (took 2 years) so I think that helped my skin react better.

I am a therapist, and so I speak with some bias, so take what I say as you wish. I am all for cognitive behavioral theory, humanist and holistic approaches.
I also have a food addiction. I also have a mood disorder. I also take a mood stabilizer. And I also take a low grade low dose anti-depressant. And I also would not be alive without them.
I also SEE a therapist and have for several years. Again--I advocate for holistic approaches. It is a mind/body wellness that we have to strive for.
I have seen clients that are anti meds, and I have seen clients who choose to opt for meds instead of therapy.
Clinically speaking, from my experience, it truly is a mixed bag. But for some, there is no way I could get through/make a treatment plan/address issues if they weren't compliant with their medications. For some, it opens them up to see their vulnerabilities--and without that "opening" or "lifting" of the mood through medication, therapy would be all for naught.
It's a willingness to learn about yourself, be self aware, and take notes, so to speak, of set backs and successes and when and how they came about.
To me, it doesn't matter to me how you approach the journey--just that you use the tool box available to make it not quite such a rickety ride.

Eating too fast. Eating too much. Breads, pizza, Pasta, can all expand inside your pouch, causing your stomach to have to move up through the band to digest what won't go down thru the band (slip). Trust me, I was in excruciating pain for several months, and experienced nausea and acid reflux that no amount of Prilosec or Pepcid would take care of. Listen to the band, and always keep meals prepared just in case you go somewhere that isn't bandster friendly (kids birthday parties, super bowl parties, etc)

Interesting. I experienced some jealousy from my twin but she's better now that her lap band was fixed. She used to say i flaunted. Nope, just walking from one place to another. Not my fault you don't like it.
It's tough, but try to surround yourself with positive influences and get your resume out there.

Kelly sweetie..no one is judging..I promise. I looked at your profile and see that you are just 19 years old. I am so very sorry that you are in so much pain that you thought death was the answer. I am no therapist but I am a mother and I'd hate to think my child was hurting that badly and I couldn't help her. Please take care of your emotional issues along with your band concerns. I agree that you should talk to your bariatric surgeon regarding any damage you may have done to the band and I also think that you should be speaking with a professional regarding your attempt at suicide. I understand how you can be in that much pain. I considered suicide myself at one time but I told my therapist about it and with the help of medication and additional therapy, I got past the crisis and have not felt that way in a very long time. Please keep us posted on how you are doing because we really do care about you.
