I got my band taken out after not quite two years. Instant relief. Wish I had gotten the sleeve from the get-go, instead of dealing with the year of pain and reflux that led me to having to remove it. I'd say it was a Waste of money if I hadn't lost any weight- but I dropped 130 lbs, so it wasn't a total waste. If I could have done it over again- even knowing all the pain, I still would have done it- Cuz it changed my life. Now it's up to me to work out consistently and not overeat so that I can keep this weight off. Anyone else have their bands removed, and if so, how well did you keep the weight off after removing it?

Hi @@charlesoakes68, I cannot answer your questions since I have not experienced a removal, but did you already have the sleeve revision? Although I do not have any complications right now, I am not against going to a sleeve when or if I ever do.

Just curious what the transition was like.

There was too much swelling of the stomach for the surgeon to get a clean cut for a revision, so he's making me wait 3 months before possibly doing the revision. I'm not sure at this time that I will in fact do the revision due to the financial stress of two cash surgeries within a year and a half of each other. It's been 4 days now and I'm eating normal again, which is nice. A week ago I struggled to get 20 ounces of liquids down in a whole days time.

Sugar Land. Did your band slip? Who is your surgeon?

Sorry I hijacked your post, hope you get your answers.

Yes my band slipped. You're not hijacking anything! I haven't really spoken to anybody else that would understand me (friends, family members and coworkers cannot understand what we go thru). Dr Hollis was my surgeon. He's been great throughout the process.

Who did your surgery and when was it done?

I just looked up Cypress, like an idiot. I work in Jersey Village. Cypress just sounds so far!!

My surgeon is in that area as well, Dr. Ahmad, he's pretty great, but I rarely see him anymore since I'm 4 years out. I had an un-fill in November (was really tight) and hadn't seen him in 2 years prior to that.

I'm guessing you recommend regular check ups? Any idea what caused the slip?

Feb. 2011 was my surgery and I've been at my goal weight for 2 years. Fluctuating about 2-4 lbs any given day.

Yes, I weigh daily, hush!

Yes I had regular check ups and fills, unfills, but My slip happened fairly fast after the initial surgery. I've been dealing with the effects of the slip for almost a year now. I was never a good candidate for banding, as I've always been an over-eater.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
