    Surgery Feb 9

I've decided to go for a practice run, I didn't want it to be a complete system shock when I start the official liver shrink on the 26th, the headaches are no joke. But glad to hear it gets better!!

And this is why I WALK ALONE!

@amponder lol yep... back to typical can't make some MIL's happy no matter what. Having a happy and healthy soul is more important than being able to keep up with the fastest horse on the track, maybe if she knew that she'd be a little nicer. =)

And this is why I WALK ALONE!

@amponder is she much taller than you? The inexcusable humiliation aside, maybe she doesn't realize you have a shorter stride if she's taller. I am 5'7 and just have a long stride and have to pace myself for friends that are inches shorter than me, sometimes I don't realize they are taking 2-3 steps for every 1 of mine and they will be like "barb you are killing me SLOW DOWN" LOL

    Can we talk blenders?

I was blessed to have met someone selling their less than 2 year old Vitamix for a majorly discounted price because they decided they wanted a different color or something. Before I got it I was thinking about doing the QVC flex pay on one for a couple of months but couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on a blender, but now having one for the past few years and experienced it, I wouldn't feel bad making that kind of investment if something happened to this one.

    Can we talk blenders?

@@BLERDgirl I've used my vitamix for everything from mincing cabbage for coleslaw then making the dressing for it, to making homemade hummus... it really is a great machine if you like to cook =D

    Can we talk blenders?

Oh and I use it for all kinds of shakes including frozen fruits and vegis, and ice, dates, etc and so far it hasn't had a problem chewing anything up. Depending on what you are pureeing I think it may work fine, especially if you go with the RX. Just making sure there is liquid in the container is what is key to making it work at it's best capacity.

    Can we talk blenders?

I watched a bunch of vids comparing the Ninja to the Bullet and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference besides the fact that you have to hold the cup down and constantly apply pressure for the Ninja to work, and you don't with the bullet, it actually locks down... so for that reason I went with Nutribullet Pro. Some Ninja's you may not have to do that with, but all the reviews I saw you did. I love the bullet, it gets the job done almost as well as my Vitamix (which is too big and heavy for small servings). I kinda wish I'd gone with the RX though.

And this is why I WALK ALONE!

It sounds like typical dramatic parent in law BS. When I was married my MIL was always nice to me, but the father in law not so much, always trying to be backhanded about things and treated me like I wasn't good enough for his son. And the mother of the man I lived with for 2 years ALWAYS treated me like how you described in your story. It didn't matter what it was about, the house wasn't clean enough even if it was spotless, I shouldn't be taking naps, my bra let my boobs bounce too much...sometimes it was ridiculous. Nothing I did was good enough. Not all inlaws are like that, but I just learned with the two negative ones I've experience to just write it off as they have a grudge in their own mind towards me for no reason and there's nothing I can do about it, and just learned to ignore their crap, granted I'd get plenty p.o.'d from time to time but I'd never let them see it bothered me. haha

    Need help!

Sounds similar to what has been going around where I live, seems like the majority of my coworkers have had it the past few weeks. I caught it the week of Christmas and had been pretty run down and feeling terrible for 3 weeks, this weekend is the first I've felt human since it started. I would get cold chills to the bone and could not warm up no matter what, I finally went to the dr and it turned out to be bacterial and had to get antibiotics. Hopefully whatever is going on passes soon! But if it doesn't seem to improve don't hesitate to contact your dr and see if they think you should come in.

    Sex talk warning

Awesome!! About the feeling better and stuff. Sorry about the relationship. You can always invest in a rabbit vibe to get you through till the next worthy bell ringer comes along.
  14. Hello! I deal with anxiety and stress disorders and one thing I talk to my therapist about with a lot is finding techniques for relaxing. There is deep breathing, muscle relaxation, walking.... What are some of your favorite, non-medicated, ways to relax and reduce anxiety/stress? I also deal with insomnia, have you found techniques that have helped you master it?

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

I was watching a vid on youtube last night and the person used the Stevia flavor drops to create her own flavors with the greek yogurt like rootbeer flavor and vanilla flavor to make it like a rootbeer float flavor. I checked them out on amazon and there are an impressive amount of flavors.

    Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!

I bought some sugar free Torani syrups because I've seen it suggested a lot, I haven't tried it in yogurt yet but they are good in plain Protein powder. But in the past I have flavored the yogurt with extracts as well and it is good, you can find a lot of flavors usually on the baking aisle, orange, lemon, mint, vanilla, coffee. I hit them up when they are on bogo haha.

Can you really stretch a sleeve?

Yes it can, they went over it in my initial seminar. I did a google search and this is the first website that popped up about it, and there are a ton more. Just search "stretched sleeve after vsg" http://obesitycoverage.com/weight-loss-surgeries/gastric-sleeve/gastric-sleeve-will-my-stomach-stretch Its basically the same way people stretch out their stomachs in the first place. I was reading somewhere, I don't know if it was here or somewhere else, a woman's story that in her surgery the surgeon said that her original stomach was the size of a football. Stretching can happen!

    Blogs/Video Diaries

@@joatsaint I was going to suggest Clusie as well. Her vids are great. @@samantha1458 there are so many other great vloggers on youtube, just search "VSG" or "Sleeve", "Weight Loss Surgery" "WLS" etc, and you will find plenty of people of all age ranges, some just starting their journey, and I really love some who've vlogged their journey for years.

    Protein Powder at Trader Joes

I've never tried it, but I see it has mostly good reviews on amazon, may be worth trying.
  20. Yes it is ok!! I asked mine on the first consult, I also asked him how many of these surgeries he's done, and he was happy to answer my questions. I'd say if they acted offended or didn't want to answer that, then maybe that isn't the surgeon you want. I know I don't want someone cutting on me who has a bad attitude.
  21. I started seeing a psychologist a few weeks before I started this journey, when I was just in the pondering the idea of surgery. It has been very helpful. I have several anxieties/fears surrounding it and it's nice to kind of have a bouncing board to help me work through them. Not sure how I'll handle food issues, not sure how I'll handle being a thin adult since I've never been a thin adult, and the fears of failing and succeeding as well. =)

    Pissed to the max!

If they say they haven't received it ask them if you can have the fax number, then call the Dr's office and ask them to send you copies of the paperwork and fax it yourself (if you can) haha. =)

    Spam with bacon

@@jenbaby75 Me too! When he told me that I was shocked, I don't even like McD's not pureed, I couldn't imagine throwing one of those nasty burgers in a blender and drinking it. Plus all the sodium in those prepared meats like the spam would make me swell like a walrus. I was just found the spam bacon experiment interesting because I kinda didn't believe the surgeon when he said people puree spam and big macs. lol =D
