  1. This week I went for my three month checkup and I had lost 50% of my goal weight which is where they had me at for 6 months. I have worked really hard on my nutrition, CrossFit, sleep and supplements. My biggest concern with being to fast is the excess skin and my other concern was if I went to slow I would lose the benefits of the surgery. Most people told me the first 6 months is where I needed to lose the bulk of my weight.

  2. I got a Roux and Y on April 12th and was discharged the 13th. That day at the hospital I was doing laps around others in the hall. I know some motivation was to get the gas out and to be released from the hospital. I'm off all pain meds, went to church today and the park with the family. I've walked 3 miles today. I've been persistent about getting my Water and Protein in since my doc has me on this diet until 2 weeks from the surgery. My wife has kind of freaked out thinking I'm doing so well trying to make me go to bed or lay down but I wanna get out and get moving so I can get this weight off. I've lost 14 lbs since the day of surgery and that has given me some super motivation to keep on pushing. Is this normal for recovery? Do most people snap back this quick? I've read some people taking off around 2 weeks. I'm excited about going to work tomorrow for half a day. Is this normal?

  4. 41 or 42 is my BMI. I think both surgeries have their benefits and you can be successful with them. I think a lot of it is where you are at. I want to lose 140 lbs. I want to be lean and healthy. Dumping is something I'm not looking forward to but I want to try to cultivate the discipline where I don't go there on purpose. I think checking it out and finding your surgeon that you trust will guide you the right way.

  5. I asked my doctor in his practice where he saw the most long time success and he said the Roux and Y. He told me the accountability it puts in place with dumping if you are not eating right is a hard reminder it is in place. I needed that accountability. The Roux and Y is also reversible if you ever want to change. My docs patients also lost more weight on the Roux and Y too. I"m 3 days post surgery and operating fine. Down 11 lbs since surgery, walking a mile a day and getting out of the house. My only regret is not doing it earlier.

  6. Ok two days before my surgery I changed from the Sleeve to the Roux en Y. Who else has done this or why did you choose the Roux en Y? My reasons are I believe it will be better accountability for me and extend my success past a year. What are some of y'alls reasons for choosing Roux en Y and maybe switching like I did?

  7. @BigViffer thanks for the reply. I carry a lot of muscle mass right now and part of my plan was light stuff not really in a CrossFit class because I know with my pride I would try to keep up. More burpees, air squats, rowing, step-ups and some pull-ups and other body weight stuff. I love the barbells which I know will be impossible for a while. I just wanted to avoid that washed out no muscle lose skin look as much as possible. BTW you look awesome! Definitely some inspiration for my future. What is your caloric intake and Protein grams in maintenance mode.

  8. I posted in the men's page but I didn't get a response, so lets open it up to everybody. I've been fairly active with working out the last year with CrossFit and cardio about 4 times a week until a month ago because I had an anal fistula that I had surgery on. It was the tipping point of deciding to do the surgery. My doc has released me to walk and that is it right now. After the sleeve how long until you can get your heart rate for incline walking? Or even CrossFit? Or Sex? How long were most of you off of work? I have a hard time of being still!
