  1. Good luck bbyruth! Hope all goes smoothly for you! Day 2 for me isnt as bad...take gas-x! it does help.
  2. I was flipping out yesterday (surgery date) too..hard not to. The gas pain sucks, I won't lie. They should hook you up with great pain relievers after the surgery...I was given morphine while in recovery..helped immensely. I think the thing that freaked me out the most was a shot in my belly before going into the operation room. Something to stop blood clots. But you know what? I didn't even feel it. I'm am now on day 2 post band. Still have the gas pains, but gas-x helps...along with the meds. I have been sleeping in my recliner...it helps! Good luck to both of you!!
  3. Band is in...have gas pains something horrible.... But I'm not even hungry! The meds may be helping with that. Doc filled me to 5cc's already! No problems swallowing or drinking...it's mainly the gas, so I keep walking every hour for 15 min. Good luck bbyruth! I couldn't sleep a wink the night before. Now all I want to do is sleep. No desire for juices or broth right now. So now on to the the post diet.. Which may be easier than I expected with band in place. Fingers crossed and positive vibes your way, bbyruth!
  4. I'm hurting...ugh. Feel like I can't take a deep breath. Pretty out of it since I left the hospital. Everything looks good, though...doc took a pic of the band inside me...kinda gross. I should totally post it for all to see... Haha. I was in recovery most of day. Feeling better by the hour, but the gas pains are pretty bad. Thank god for the meds! I went in soooo hungry...but haven't been hungry since the operation. Doc filled my 10cc band with 5 cc's! I am having no issues swallowing or drinking... Amazing. Hope it stays this way! We will see how I do on mushies in 10 days. How is everyone?
  5. @@bbyruth sorry no loss! I think most of mine was just water weight. Looks like we are getting banded a day apart!
  6. I thought about chicken broth, but it lacks the amount protein the shakes have..so stuck with the shakes. They are making me constipated something horrible, though...so...lost 12 pounds total..maybe 13 by tomorrow morning (surgery day).
  7. Glad to hear you are better, weevie! So happy to have found you all on here going through it at the same time :-). I am scheduled first thing in the morning...I will still be half asleep when they wheel me in! I'm ready to be done with the pre-op diet...not that the post op is any better...but I think I will have less hunger. I hope, anyway! A little less nervous, now.
  8. How are you, Weevie?! Hope you were able to get unswollen. I'm a nervous wreck... My surgery is first thing tomorrow morning! Ack
  9. I would lock up the (evil) scale and just get it out once a week at the same time...follow the rules, and count your calories/protein etc...exercise...it will happen, the scale will play mind games. It may be just Water weight as your body went through a huge change. Us women hold water on the drop of a dime (at least I do). As you workout, you may see gains due to muscle which is understandable. How do your clothes feel? Take measurements..you might be surprised!
  10. Awe...hang in there weevie! Hope you feel better soon and not stuck there too long. Sounds like they are taking great care of you!
  11. Oh no, did you have a fill already? Sending positive vibes your way! Did this come on slowly?
  12. Congrats getting to band land! Mine is Tuesday and I have a 2 hr drive too...I told the hubby maybe we should just drive to the mall that's near the hospital and just walk for a bit afterwards...not sure if that's even feasible.
  13. That is awesome!! You are rocking the band first week out! Congrats!
  14. How exciting! How are you feeling pain wise?
  15. How did it go, Plopez? Today was the big day, right? Hope it's a painless and speedy recovery!
  16. Excited, and getting last minute nerves!
  17. Getting nervous. I love that you walked to your car afterwards, weevie! I hope to do the same. I have pre-op on Friday! I just wish I could shake the nerves and enjoy the fact Im actually doing it.
  18. Thank you for being so inspiring! It makes me excited to get banded next week! Any pointers for us newbs?
  19. I have one week to go...was hungry most the day...sometimes the shakes fill me up..some days, not so much. Good luck everyone! Seems we are all off to a good start!
  20. Just curious how much you all lost on pre-op. I am down 10 pounds so far...makes it more bearable. :-) Kinda thinking it is all Water weight right now, though. I pee a lot on this diet!
  21. Forgot to say the diet...at least mine...is only during the 2 weeks prior to surgery.
  22. Glad to see a few others with a June date! Hope all goes well. So we have to swallow barium prior to surgery? I think my doc is doing it after.. @@Makingchanges, the pre op diet is a very low carb high Protein one. For mine, I am allowed 800 calories a day...but each surgeon requires different diets. I am drinking two Protein shakes and eating one meal with protein and green vegetables. I am surprised to read some surgeons don't require any diet...as it is meant to shrink the liver so it is easy to place the band.
  23. Congrats! How was your first week? I'm a lightweight when it comes to pain...so a little worried about that part.
  24. I'm feeling better on this diet...enough to walk a bit. Weight lifting...maybe. I see a couple of you are already ticking down on your tickers! I cant wait to see mine ticking down as well. High five, ladies! We can do this!
  25. Is it okay to workout while on the pre-op diet? I feel like crap, due to the low carb 800 calorie restriction...so not sure if I should wait till after surgery, or just push through some aerobics anyway.
