  1. My NUT (nutritionist ) says take the cap off a water bottle and fill it... That's what she calls a SIP. seriously I don't know how as I just did yard work and chugged 20 oz of water down. It's gonna be hard.
  2. I'm having my gastric sleeve on nov 6. In CA. Do you have someone going with you? I hear most people going to MX go stay somewhere close during post op? Mine is a 1-2 day inpatient but I'm a single mom and I am going to stay as long as possible with 24 hr care. Not a lot of support on my end either. Sure makes it harder. Two friends support this and neither are around.
  3. I'm Nov 6, my date was changed from oct 3. Thinking of it as more time to lose weight before surgery:)nervous and excited. Wondering how long til we can eat a real meal even small. I'm not telling many people so it's kinda like hiding out and avoiding play dates and dinner dates until it's not so noticeable. I'm active with my son and friends families... Lots to think about!
  4. The hospital called to do pre-admitting today. 29 days until my life changes. I'm so excited! Also a little nervous to know I won't have real food for a month. My program does not require a two-week shake liquid meal because they require us to lose weight before we r scheduled.. So periodically I'll just try to go all day and just shakes. It's no easy task.
  5. Through Kaiser you cannot gain any weight, not even an oz or lb once you meet your goal/surgery weight or you will not be eligible for surgery. My comfort zone is to keep losing more so that i dont have that fear in me that my time of the month might put me over. And honestly once i did reschedule my appointment because it looked like I was going to be over. My dr counts oz also so i went in one day thought i was at goal weight which was 281 and she called me later and said that by next week i had to be at 281 to get my surgery date. i said im confused because I weighed in this morning at 281 and she said no you were 281.4 which means 4 oz over.(yes Im serious) So next week i was super careful and when i went to weight in i even ran to the bathroom first and took off my bra and undies which gave me another oz to spare. All the other programs I heard of including mine, you get a starting weight, logged in, then that is what your BMI is based on and is what the surgeon uses to determine how much weight they want you to lose prior to surgery. You are supposed to lose weight and attend classes to gain the knowledge needed for success and most EVERYONE starts out surgery day down at least 2% from the weight they were originally started at. I would clarify that with your program. Make sure its really that. If it does really mean you cant gain or LOSE a lb then I would most def lose the weight needed and ad weight on. I know what shoes, pants etc. weight what because i weight in same outfit everyweek. I go to kaiser and weight in the health education dept. then i go get the lady and she records it but i always go weight myself first and i make sure my scale at home matches exactly!
  6. I have so many! *Go hiking- *Ride a horse( weight limit here all 250) *Zip lining with my son *But clothes at costco *Buy lingerie from Victoria secrets again *Cross my legs *take pictures without standing behind my son to hide my body *enjoy walking through the auction(like a HUGE yard sale) *ride amusement rides with my son
  7. I see so many positive pictures proving this can be a successful tool. My date is next month. I do want to ask you that are here, post op. I see you list weight and look amazing! But I want to know How do you feel now? Do you feel healthy and strong,? I still worry about not being able to eat to provide my nutrients it seems for a long time you eat Protein to survive. It's scary.

  9. I am praying that my 41-42nd year is the start of a whole new life!! Feeling good, active and wearing stylish clothing for once in my life. I cant wait to feel sexy again. Look out world.!
  10. I had a tumor found on my liver during my preop testing, labs, ultrasound, several MRI's, they say it appears benign also and I pray they are right. I put my surgery off for one month because I wanted to know if I was ok, if I had cancer then I was not going to have my surgery. So happy they found it so now it can be monitored. Did they remove yours? Mine is small so unless it hurts they are leaving it untouched. And congrats on your surgery.
  11. Yes I agree, one month is nothing...Except I was so into all my Oct sleever buddies...I also get to have my farewell to a few more things. I want to try more Protein drinks the next few weeks to get more used to a liquid diet. I wish you much success!
  12. Since my date got moved, I knew i had a few more weeks to eat certain foods i know i will miss. But im trying hard to keep eating the way Im supposed to on my pre op which is under 1200 calories of lean Proteins, veggies, fruit and no artificial sugar or caffeine. So a day for me was like: 2 hard boiled eggs, 1/2 orange, lunch was baked chicken and steamed veggies, snack was string cheese or plain yogurt with berries and stevia, dinner tuna plain on salad with an avacado something like that and then a sugar free pudding before bed. Some days I will throw in a Protein drink instead of lunch or make a blended smoothie with fruit/coconut milk for Breakfast but in the evening I always want to eat more than im supposed to. Even if its veggies...so i drink more Water in between and that helps. I honestly think when we dont feel hungry for a few weeks it will help alot!! Now I have another month of pre-op, hoping to lose another 15 before my date next mont. Best wishes!
  13. I'm right with you. Some days on my preop diet i do just great. Other days I will just do shakes trying to prepare myself for the full liquid stage and it's scary! By late evening damn I want some real dang food. Even a vowel of steamed broccoli:) but I know next month I can't physically eat for awhile. Knowing that mentally helps me prepare.
  14. When I lost 25 lbs and exercised I dropped inches and cloth sizes then more recently just walking and pre op diet list 25 lbs and clothes are still tight ! There is something to be said for exercise!
  15. I also got negative feedback from most everyone including my mom the only family who knows. So I am doing it but only a few close friends know. I also thought about the muscles and weight training pre op and I am dedicating my next 30 days to weight training before surgery. I pray it helps!
  16. Hi there! Well my surgery date was changed to Nov 6. During my ultrasound of my liver they found something and after further testing it is said to be a tumor appearing to be (non aggresive and not cancerous). So until I got the all clear I had to move my date I was so nervous and an emotional wreck. I was super sad though when my Oct day came and went as I realize now its another month until my life will change:)
  17. Can you tell me where you found one without artificial sweetners. I can handle stevia and splenda but the others really upset my stomach. I'd love an option without them. Please tell! Thank you.
  18. Today my mom mentioned that my calendar had a sticker on it that said Anniversery. That was my original surgery date I forgot I had done that. When I told her what it was She didn't say anymore. Clearly she can't understand how important and life changing this is for me. I wish I had her support:( I will always remember the day I was given a chance to LIVE again. And I will celebrate Nov 6 for the rest of my life.
  19. So many Nov 3 dates. My Dr only does tuesday and Thursday surgeries so I was trying to allow for few days in hospital then weekend at home recovering before my son is around me. Don't want to scare him if I am in pain. Then he's in school for 6 hours a day the school days so I can rest and heal and walk around. I need to order a few more supplements then I'm doing my pantry shopping on the first of next month so everything's done. I'm ordering some GENEPRO flavorless Protein for Soups and applesauce for that first month or to mix with with crystal light. I'm not sure about Protein drinks right after that flavor is so sweet. I hear it dissolves in crystal light and I love the rasberry ice I could get in my protein that way as long as I can swallow okay

  21. I am one month away also, Nov 6. Cant wait.
  22. Am the only one who has problems with this phone app? I cant upload pictures or update my profile, the only thing I can figure out to do is read notifications and forums. I dont have my pics on a pc and dont have a pc at home. So im frustrated lately. I want this to be my one stop shop for sleeve talk and i dont like that i cant figure it out.
  23. I'm using vacation instead of disability because I don't want to explain. But they know I've been losing weight and gad health problems so I already started using that for declining work lunch dates etc and I'll just say health issues not specific to surgery:)
  24. What am I going to be able to do post op? I have surgery scheduled for 11/6/14. I will be off work for three weekends and two full weeks before I return to work. But I will be home for 12 full business days. Im just wondering if I can plan to: Drive my son to school Go grocery shopping Get my haircut I know they are little things but they are things that I need to do and I am wondering when is it ok to do things? Will I be ok? My sons birthday is 10 days after surgery so I want to at least be present for his bday party. Will I be up to sitting through a basketball game, a movie? How long until you did normal things. Can some of you post a little list and when you were able to do things so that I can have an idea? Thanks.
  25. Drink water in between shakes and after 3 hours have another because even if you have 5 you will be under calories ! And you can blend them with lil extra fruit and yogurt or extra protein right ? Fruit and yogurt with extra scoop of protein keeps me full for several hours but it's more calories
