  1. I'm ordering some vitamins and see you posting about celebrate. Is that a website?
  2. I understand where you are coming from. My mom is all over the place. She eats bad and has bad cholesterol, but she's skinny and it's very hard for me. She doesn't live here but is here watching my son a few days a week and she constantly brings junk food here and leaves it. I bought organic 7 grain bread and she brought sourdough and I said I left you some, I tell her I have the kind I want. I know I will still have to buy things and cook for my son and I know it will be hard but I am counting on the fact that I will be dipping on liquids for weeks. After the soft food phase when you are getting ready to eat real food again I plan to do a few things...1) plan my meals 2) be prepared with things that don't need cooked 3) keep sugar free pudding and Popsicle if I need one. If you prepare yourself with what you need to be successful then it will be easier for you to resist those things that are so unhealthy. Stick with this place to rant and get support! I know I am.
  3. Thank you! I figured it out with your help!
  4. I go to the South Sac office, for my orientation, surgeon visit, support group, nutrition class, and tomorrow psych eval. What exactly do you want to know. I am an open book.
  5. Can you tell where you click or what to click to post a new topic? Im very new to this whole blog thing anyway but I think you have to post new topic if you want to say something that isnt a reply to a current post...right? Anyway I can see forums but cannot see any button that says new topic.
  6. So Im moving closer to my goal. Im at the goal weight my dr recommended. I have been following a 1200 caloried diet of basically clean food for several months, I have had the occassional day off on the weekend and my son and I have pizza or something...I guess those days will be gone soon enough. I have attended the support group the nutrition class, seen the surgeon. Tomorrow is my Psych evaluation. I have no idea what to expect. I take medication because I get anxious and sometimes a bit depressed. Im hoping that she wont start talking about my deep rooted issues...I'm scared if i start crying she will put me down as needs to work on things Im a cryer, if I'm mad or upset...I hope I can just stay light and positive...just nervous. not sure what this really is about or what happens. Everyones journey is so different with different insurance and private pay surgery. I am using Kaiser and they have their own protocols. This is my last step Im told before we talk surgery...so its a big deal for me. Two years ago I started the same process with a different kaiser office. My surgeon was horrible, the NUT was horrible, everyone seemed to try and talk you out of it and make it so scary you thought you would fail but everyone i knew that had a bariatric surgery had varying levels of success. I had to lose 45 lbs last time..well you guys have heard it. If I can lose that on my own then why do I need surgery. Well I lost 50lbs, I was at the gym several days a week, eating clean for the most part and losing weight on my own...i decided to do it myself since i felt no support from the surgeon or the NUT. Then i had a hip injury, became immobile and the story is the same as always, the weight came back, my eating habits went to comfort and now here I am two years later 15 lbs heavier, starting again worse off than ever. Still full of questions, scared to death Im not making the right choice. Scared of the complications or things that could happen since Im a single mom. Feels so selfish that i am putting myself at risk... Why cant i do it on my own and make it last:( My son deserves a healthy mom that can get up and down off the ground and run with him. Im just scared to death. Wish it would just get here already and get it over with.. I have come to terms with the fact that I might be able to do it on my own, I might not. It might last it might not but I am trying this time to do the surgery and see if my life can be what i hope it can. Better. I want mobility, health, and to be active and live life with my son! Wish me luck with the psych tomorrow. God knows I'm gonna need it!!
  7. I started using iphone app for convenience and I cannot post anything to forums only reply to others posts..... Help?
  8. I'm looking into it and asking in support group next week. I'm getting my shakes.. Different varieties tomorrow to try. I'm told (unjury) is easy to tolerate so I'm ordering some to try. I'll post when I hear more. I did look at walmart and found pouches of "whey isolate protein gel" it didn't say collagen based so I'm asking about those next week. Found a fruit punch powder online but can't find the name right now:( reviews said mixed with crystal light was great. I can do rasberry crystal light.
  9. Some shakes gave over 20 grams protein. Is it to hard to do 3 shakes? Or have you tried Greek yogurt 1 cup in blender with either stevia or my new favorite is liquid drops.. I have crystal light blackberry lemonade or wal mart brand grape is awesome. I use drops in my Greek yogurt daily. But if you blend with water or ice it's liquid . One cup has lots of protein. You may be under calories but still get enough protein?
  10. I was told that those New Whey product isn't enough protein because it's collagen based and really doesn't end up being enough protein at all. I'm still looking for other options myself for post op.
  11. I'm scared to death. Everyone I know that has had a type of bariatric surgery acts likes it's no big deal and that I worry to much.. Maybe so but I know I need to do something but I'm scared!
  12. I struggle with who I want to know about such a personal choice. At work my coworkers all eat well, work out, they are young, hip and cross fit junkies. We did a biggest loser at work and I won and I lost 50 lbs but as soon as I had a hip injury and wasnt mobile I gained it back and thats been so embarrasing because everyone I work with has seen the transformation to a healthy me and then back to the me that wears the same clothes to work all the time because nothing fits. I know they will see me losing weight again but this time will obviously be more drastic. I could not handle the input I would get from them. I did mention to one person that my Dr had said surgery may be an option for my health and I got an immediate negative response and the story of I know someone who had it and blah blah blah...anyway I go on blogs and support groups and see the positives and the negatives and with all that information I made my choice. I know a few friends who have different types of bariatric surgery so I have told them and asked alot of questions of them. None have had the VSG though. I have a young child and I dont want him to worry about me having surgery. I know he will tell people if he knows I had surgery. So I still havent told him. I have only told a handful of people that I know will support me and not judge me or give me their OPINIONS on my health and my body. My only fear of not sharing with my son is that he will question why we dont eat the same things. In the beginning when I cant eat meals sitting with him at dinner will seem strange with no food. Has anyone gone through and not shared with their smaller/younger children?
  13. Almost ready for surgery, still lots of concerns...one of the biggest is Water. How will I get in enough water? I drink alot of water and Im so scared I will not be able to get enough in. I have only been constipated once, after child birth and it was horrible and painful. The nutritionist said MOST people do suffer from constipation after surgery. Just wondering how much water people are really getting in and have you had any negative side effects?
  14. Can you tell me how many oz of liquid you are drinking when you juice? Just trying to get an idea? I love juicing.
