Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Hey Terri! Don't be hard on yourself. When you had your surgery they pumped you full of liquids, this is what is looking like a weight gain. I lost 12 pounds the 1st week, however, I did not show any loss until day 5 or 6. Once it started showing up I was losing a couple of pounds a day for a few days.
  2. Hey! Just for the record..... amandainsicily is my younger sister/stalker!

    Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!

Actually my swelling has gone done a lot in the past couple of days. Infact, I would say it was gone except that shaving my left (prot side) leg is still a challenge compared to my right. I know (from all the previous failed dieting) that when you lose fast sometimes it takes your body a while to catch up. This being said..... I told my husband to get use to seeing this, I was able to take off my pants without unbuttoning or unzipping. And of course I proved it!

    Scared of baggy skin!!

I just got banded last week so loose skin is not a problem.....yet. I sure hope I am as successful as y'all so that I worry about loose skin! I am not much of a milk drinker but I think I might have to pick-up skim milk on the way home and look on Amazon for a firm cd. Preemptive Strike!!

Weigh in... how much have u lost?

I think this thread will be a good one to check monthly for inspiration and support!! I will love hearing how all my May peeps are doing!! I just got back from my 1 week post-op visit and offically I have lost 23 pounds during my 2 week pre-op diet and 1 week of liquids!! Not bad for a girl my age . I know things will slow down with real food being introduced, however, I feel very good about my start!

    Hello Fabulous Fourties!!!

At what point did your swelling decrease around your port. I am at day 7 and I not impatient...yet, but, I do wonder when I will be able to bend to my left (port side). Also I have lost over 20pounds since I started my pre-op diet (very exciting!) and I want to feel the difference in my clothes. I imagine I will have to wait till the swelling goes down. Bandfan! That is great about your diabets!! I am diabetic and I take blood pressure medicine. This was the greatest motivator in getting the band. My weight didn't slow me down or cause problems until my mid 40's!
  9. I am doing much, much better! Last night I co-hosted (with 3 other couples) a crawdaddy party. One of the couples is orginally from south of New Orleans. It was in the Porters backyard and I was hoping just make an apperance. We boiled about 200 pounds of mudbugs (big ones!) and had about 50 people come. Not only did I stay for the whole party I ended up singing on a Microphone several times with dance moves (completely sober) and being around a lot of my favorite foods and not eating or feeling sorry for myself. I was exhausted by the end of the night and I could not sit up straight but after sleeping in the next day I was fine. I did bring home a large bag of crawdads to peel and freeze for when I get to use my teeth again!!

Seriously..... you do need to start doing your pre-op diet. You can eat just about anything you want after a few weeks, so settle down!

  10. :scared2: Okay...........

How are you? I am fine. We must keep in touch.......I'm scared :scared:

    May Banders???

I was banded last Monday and will have my post-op check-up this Monday and I will return to work the next day. Yesterday was my first really good day. I have some tenderness around my port and I still have throat spasms (feels like intense heartburn) but once I learned the cure, hot liquids, I can stop them as soon as it starts. Slept great last night for the first time and even slept on my sides! Not having any hunger and I am content with protein shakes and soup in the blender. No regrets and I can't wait till my 1st fill. :woot:
  13. Bandfan you are so sweet check in on me! This is my 1st really good day. 1st day, I mostly slept and did not drink enough. 2nd day I allowed myself to became dehydrated and had a really bad headache and nausea all day. My sister goes to the same Bariatric doctor (she was banded 3 years ago) and told the Nurse how I was feeling and they instructed me to sip nonstop all day, and I did. Day 3 & 4 I was having intense heartburn (so I thought) and by Thursday evening I was getting very worried. 1st thing this morning I called the doctor and they told me I was having esophageal spasm (charlie horse of the throat). It hurts pretty bad but is nothing to worry about. They advised me to drink warm tea when it start up and it has worked like a charm! I am feeling pretty good now. Even though I have not popped up as fast as some, I still have not had anything big go wrong. I am not hungry... and I do have to remind myself to get my protien in. My port site is tender but no big deal. I can't believe I really have been banded! I kept expecting it to not happen.

    Post-Surgery Check-In

Well this is the 1st day I have felt like typing. I was Banded May12th, everything went fine. I was very neverous about having a cold but they did not call the surgery off. 1st day I slept, 2nd day I didn't drink enough and became dehydraged, major headache and nauseous. 3rd & 4th day had intenence heartburn & stomach pain. Called the doctor this morning and found out I was having esophageal spasms. Painfull but not serious. They told me to keep a cup of hot tea near me and sip it all day... and it worked! So I have had some discomfort but nothing serious. I can't believe I have been banded, for real!

    gas or hunger pains

I have a question about your orignal gas pain. I was banded on the 12th (4 day ago). I no longer have the gas pain in the shoulders and back, but, I do have a burning pain at bottom of my rib cage in the center. It feels like really bad heartburn and it is intense but only lasts a few seconds. This only started yesterday. Is this like what you have had? I think I'll call my doctor about it. If this is what you are feeling please let me know what worked best for you. thanks!

I was banded on May 12th too! I am feeling pretty good today, except, I am having what feels like intense heartburn. I plan on calling the doctor in the morning to make sure this is normal. Any of y'all have this feeling? I feel a little pregnant and I can not bend very well, but , considereig I had surgry only a few day ago... I feel pretty good.

    I am scheduled for May

Tomorrow, the 12th, is my Band-day! I am very excited!! I would say I am not nervous at all, except.... I have a slight runny nose & mild sore throat. I think it is spring sinus, but I worry about it being a deal breaker. Plus I can't take all my good meds the day before surgery. Well everyone cross your fingers for me that the nose thing does not get any worse. This band is the first true hope I have had that I will actually lose all the weight I need to. Happy Mothers Day to all that are moms. My boys are the driving force behind me wanting this band. I want to be here and having a good time with them for a long, long time! Tomorrow is my Bandday!:welldoneclap:
  19. BandFan, thanks for the reasuring words. I can't believe this time tomorrow I could be back home and an official bandster! I guess my Mother day lunch will be my last big meal ( if I stay on top of my fills!). I really can't believe this is really happening. I have not truely believed I could lose all my weight since my 20's and now I know it really will happen with my band and this great support team! I appreciate your advice and I will be moving & walking around!

    May Name

Shrinko-de-Mayo is for anyone getting banded in May 08! Some May bandsters have choosen the name May Flowers, and that is a great name too! Other bandsters, like myself, feel like the name Shrinko-de-Mayo suits them better. :frown: Viva la Shrinkos!
  22. You are my first "Friend" on the internet :smile2: ..... you not some wacko internet stalker, are you :scared2:

  23. I know you guys are excited! I am being banded on May 12th. Y'all should post your dates under "Support Groups", May 2008, we have a running list of everyone getting banded in the month of may. It is really neat hearing from all the may bandsters and some are already posting their surgery experience!
  24. I hope the hottness of my photo does not disturb you :tt2:
