  1. i was 2 days in the hosp and i took one week off. i have a deskjob too and i survived but you should really consider 2 weeks off if possible because you will be extremely EXHAUSTED
  2. Hi everyone just a little update and some other random stuff. just want to start by saying i am about 3 1/2 months post op and 5 lbs from my goal weight i have lost about 33 lbs so far. I COULDNT BE HAPPIER AND I COULDNT BE HEALTHIER!! SO GLAD I GOT SLEEVED! i feel back to normal now because i felt like someone else in a diff body for the past 4 years! anyway, everything has gone well i followed all my post op instructions and my recent bloodwork shows all Vitamin levels normal. i have been eating healthy and i feel good. i can eat whatever i wish but i do notice that the unhealthy stuff i just plain ol DONT LIKE anymore. normally i eat "my fit foods" meals and a small is actually 2 meals for me. LET ME TELL U HOW MUCH MONEY I HAVE SAVED POST OP! i never realized how much $$ i was spending on food and Snacks now i spend about $25 and that is Breakfast, lunch and dinner for the whole week. weird thing i noticed: i am very particular about my drink. i have to have ice, i like to drink from a cup and straw and i am hooked on brewed ice tea and fresh squeezed lemonade. Food just isnt the same to sum it up i used to LIVE TO EAT, now I EAT TO LIVE. My surgeon is Dr. Darido at 1st choice weight loss, i love my surgeon he is the best and his staff is GREAT!
  3. hi there, i was low bmi pre -surgery as well. the weight is coming off very slowly but i am beyond happy! i was expecting the slow weight loss so no big deal... as of when i left the hosp i do not feel like i had any type of surgery. thankfully, i still feel great and no complications. i have no desire to eat or drink anything but i do what i know needs to be done and i am fine.

post op time off from work

i took one week off, had surgery on Oct 6th and came back to work Oct 13th. The first day back i did have to force myself to get up, dressed and come in. i think the more your up and moving the faster you will recover. i was extremely exhausted the first couple of days back but im great now. i feel completely back to normal 17 days post op.

  8. I am also getting sleeved on Monday the 6th. I am SUPER excited but today i do kind of feel selfish at the same time. kinda like wow i could do a million other things with this money but in reality i shouldnt feel like this because my family isnt going to be without something because i decided to spend this money on myself sooooooo.... i just want to be happy and healthy for myself AND my family.
  9. MONDAY OCT 6!! Feeling EXCITED, kinda nervous and a little bit selfish or guilty for some reason? Good luck everyone
  10. im not sleeved yet but my bmi is also 32 and i am going to dr. darido
  11. im on my last week. surgery is oct 6th and i have a 2 day pre-op liquid diet.i was told not to lose one lb because my bmi is low so im going out with a bang and eating all my favorites this week.
  12. finally realized that i have EVERY excuse not to go anywhere anymore because i feel so horrible about my weight. i refuse to take pics or let anyone take pics of me. my husband is 12 years younger than me and i am embarrased to be his OLD & FAT wife. i cant sleep at night because my legs and feet hurt. people have been asking me if i am pregnant.... when i see people i havent seen in a while they say "you look so different" yeah i look fat.... im down to one pair of pants that fit...

    October 2014

October 6th, 2 day liquid diet.
  14. i started researching and consultations in August and now i am scheduled for surgery on Oct 6th. (self pay as well). the handful of people that know what i have been looking into and what i am doing are also telling me OMGSH SO SOON??!!! well yeah, WHY WAIT? im ready now ........ its them who must not be ready. my hubby is supporting me but is also uneasy about the whole thing but he has no idea about the whole process and the actual procedure so hes like --ok i guess.
  15. if there was no one to stop me i would be getting my wls in Mexico. i researched for hours on end and decided upon Ramos-Kelly or Fernando Garcia. My husband wont allow it so i will have my surgery in the US but to answer your question: Besides all the success stories you will read i made it a point to google phrases like "death after bariatric surgery in tijuana" and "death of patient dr. XYZ" my research was to find all the GOOD and BAD for each doctor i was considering. and there are doctors who have repeat situations. also keep in mind that people can die in the US from the same surgery. It is just one of the risks. good luck
  16. You look amazing and most importantly you sound so HEALTHY & HAPPY! I hope I have this happy ending!
  17. CONGRATS! CANT WAIT TO SAY THAT TOO!! i dont know about you all but i just got my sx date and i am scared to even say it out loud for fear that some crazy, odd, unexpected, last min catastophe comes up and i cant get it done. its like im scared to get excited because i dont want to get let down or jinx myself!? weird.
  18. Let's say all goes as expected, when you were 4 days post op do you think you felt up to it and could have made it to a wedding 4 days out? like sit and chill no dancing around etc. sounds crazy but between work and this wedding, if going to a wedding 4 days out isnt a good idea i am going to have to push my sx date out a whole extra 3-4 weeks. and i dont want to. if i can just make it to this wedding ill be okay.
  19. Hi, I am posting my story because during my "research stage" I have found other low BMIers hard to come by and I want to help someone else like myself out there looking, hoping to find someone with similiar stats. My story: I am 36 years old, 4'11" and my BMI is about 32. I have 3 kids (2 biological, 1 adopted). I am married and my hubby is 12 --count em, 12 yrs younger than me! I have struggled with my weight since I hit my 30s but after my 2nd child it has been completely unmanageable and I can sell you a bunch of other reasons why I am doing this but its irrelevant at this point because now that I have researched everything sleeve related NOTHING can stop me LOL I am obsessed. I was initially researching TT and lipo because I am "not that big" according to everyone (except myself). You see my body type has always been "thicker than a snicker" and it was cute when I weighed about 125 lbs. My bottom had always been my my best asset lol but now that I am over 160 umm it aint cute! If i was to just have TT and lipo my hubby would probably be like dammmmmmmmmmmmm a$$ for days but honestly it would look unnatural and I would STILL be unhealthy and overweight. I would still yo-yo diet and per genetics, keep gaining. So I let go of that idea and started looking into the lap-band because at that time even I thought these other procedures were too drastic for me cuz im "not that big." well that didnt work out because i found too many complications and revisions so i set my sights on the sleeve. YAYY SLEEVE YOURE GOING TO BE PERFECT FOR ME!! Next, I was like ohhh yeah Tijuana here I come because eff paying full price here in the US so i spent countless hours reading up on going to Mexico. But when I told my husband my great idea he said HELLNO. Okay fine. More than likely (depending on my endoscopy next wednesday) I will be paying full price here in my hometown, approx 10k. I dont care about the price at this point, I am so excited and so looking forward to this i can barely think straight. Oh i got sidetracked by my excitment but i do want to say that the certified world national board of whatever says you qualify for surgery at a BMI of 30 or higher. In fact the lower the BMI the better the sucess rate and less complications (for sleeve). That is something a lot of people are not realizing when someone like me is getting this done. I have found some negativity from both wls vets and non-wls. All those other requirements are for insurance purposes. My surgeon said that I am the perfect candidate and he wish everyone would spare themselves the misery of waiting until their BMI is morbid. If you are low BMI and you have the means, do it. I am. You are not alone.
  20. My surgeon is in Houston, TX, 1st Choice Weightloss, Dr. Elias Darido. I also consulted with Audencio Alanis but it was more expensive. I also considered Dr. Kim in Colleyville, TX whose price was the same as 1st Choice here in Houston. When researching TJ, I was considering Dr. Fernando Garcia or Ramos-Kelly.

    New group for oct sleevers

I do not have a date yet but I HOPE I am an October sleever. I will complete my last preop tests next Wednesday soooooooooo....... hurry up October!
  22. Thanks for all the replies! I was not expecting so many, you guys are great! Needless to say I will NOT be going to a wedding in that condition! With all this pre-op excitement I actually forgot I would still be on pain meds duhhhhhhhh what was I thinking? *i will post pone my surgery till after the wedding because i just cannot miss my dear friends wedding*
  23. hi, my pre-op bmi is 32, i have 50 lbs to lose. my surgeon says low bmi = less risk of complications, greater sucess rate, less excess skin issues vs someone with higher bmi. why wait when i know where im headed if i do not have this surgery. diet and exercise alone cannot change genetics.
