  1. I only stayed a night and I was happy to leave the hospital. Trust me, you'll want to get out of there!
  2. @@James Marusek - thank you for your post. If you cut out all milk products, did that mean no creamy Protein drinks? That's one of my sources of protein at the moment. I don't think I can eat a banana yet either but I would love to if I could! My doc first thought it was the type of protein I was drinking (whey vs. soy) and I switched with no affect. I have been drinking milk though as a source of protein as well.
  3. I feel your pain, I had my surgery on 5/21/14 and I can't meet my daily protein goals because the drinks make me sick to my stomach. There's very little food I can eat at this point so it's all I can do to keep myself together. We just have to be patient and let healing happen. Good luck and talk to you soon!
  4. @ - I'm hoping the doc will have a suggestion for me tomorrow when I see him. Not only work but what about if you are at the grocery store and it hits you? If you are out when there's no bathroom around? It's scary. I'll post when I find out what he says.
  5. You can experience hair loss. Most people lose hair in the first six months after surgery. Also losing muscle mass is a big issue because you will feel weak and run out of breath. It's hard and sometimes you have to try many different methods to getting your protein, but I am confident that it can be done!
  6. I'm about to try unflavored protein powder mixed in with food like soup, jello, etc. I'm curious to see what everyone else says. I got soy milk and I just couldn't stand it. Blech. Glad I can drink 1%.
  7. I am so glad I'm not the only one. It seems like more people are constipated and have little to no pain. I just don't get it! @@butterflyinwaiting - this whole surgery has played on my emotions greatly. I've just been crying whenever I don't know what to do or feel defeated. Partly because I stopped taking a certain med but also because it just has been such a challenge and I know I'm not getting enough Protein. We must be patient and strong, right?!
  8. Is there a forum that I'm not seeing about the iPhone app? I wish the app worked better on my phone!
  9. Goals are important; however, I also believe that goals are constantly changing. I've just had my surgery a week ago and my goal right now is to heal and get my Protein in! I can't really reward myself but the pounds I've lost thus far is a reward in itself. I think when I'm finished healing, I'll focus on working out type of goals and reward myself by shopping!
  10. It's your life! The quality of life greatly exceeds other people's opinions. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope that your friends can accept the decision you've made for your health.
  11. I can't remember what they gave me at the hospital but they discharged me with Roxicet. I haven't been using it though because it doesn't help at all. I'm in a lot less pain now but it's still there. I have a low pain tolerance so that might be it too.
  12. @@jjinWA - Agreed. Not to mention other unhealthy pains. I look forward to less back pain for sure!!! (among other things)
  13. My worst fear.... I'm a 44DDD and I really don't mind the shrinkage but what bra will I wear?! I think I'm gonna go with the Walmart suggestion in a couple of weeks. Wearing a real bra is uncomfortable anyway. Lol.
  14. Omg, mine was the opposite. Like Niagra Falls and that for me, isn't normal. Seeing the doc tomorrow, I am going to ask him about it.
  15. Oh wow, didn't even see the date. I am brand new here to the forums so I'm still getting used to them. Had my surgery May 21 and I'm still recovering too. Man, is it hard....
  16. Oh my gosh, it felt like forever. Then suddenly I had a surgery date 2 weeks away! They do stuff like that all the time. I think the whole process took about 7-8 months. Once you get the surgery date it will go by really fast.
  17. Definitely read the forums here. If you think it will help, read about people's surgery experience. I know it would've helped me if I had done that prior to my surgery. I posted my experience in the pre-op section if you are interested.
  18. I've just had the robot surgery and my doctor said it went "beautifully." I still have pain but I imagine the pain would last longer if it were done organically. I'm only a week post-op, just FYI. So far, so good!
  19. That's so awesome. It gives me hope! (I'm just a week post-op)
  20. I had my surgery a week ago, still have pain. It was definitely more pain than I expected. Some people are exercising on the third day after surgery?! That's crazy talk. Glad you passed your test. Keep posting!
  21. I know it's frustrating. Sometimes people will give you that look or say something like, "You are beautiful no matter what." They all assume that I'm uncomfortable with my self image or that I'm depressed about my weight or something. I'm not. In fact, I'm very confident and body positive. WLS is, for the most part, done for health reasons. Sure, it's nice to be able to shop in the "normal" section of clothing instead of the plus-size part, but honestly the reasons I did my surgery is because I want to be healthy. I want to start a family of my own. I don't want high blood pressure at 26. Etc. I don't understand why people assume that people who are overweight have this negative self image. Some of us do, of course, but it is never safe to assume things about a person. Anyways, my course of action is honesty is the best policy. While I don't go around advertising it to every person I've met, I will not hesitate to share my surgery with anyone who asks or I feel needs to know for whatever reason. I post about it on Facebook and Instagram, and actually I get a lot of positive feedback and good support. If anyone has ever doubted my reasons for surgery, I don't know about it nor do I care. All that matters is the support system that you have. They love you and support you and want you to be the healthiest person you can be!
  22. @@DLCoggin - Could you please send me that list as well? It will be so helpful I know it! You should probably start your own support group or something. (ktjen@icloud.com)
  23. So I just tried to go to the grocery store with the hubby... I say tried because I was driving up the road and I was sweaty and nauseous and just all around feeling ill... so I had to turn around to come back home. I came inside and was very shaky and panting. I know I'm probably not getting enough Protein but that was the reason for going to the store. I couldn't even make it outside my neighborhood. I have my first post-op appt with my surgeon tomorrow and now I'm uneasy about it. Any advice?
  24. @@MaryJane11 - Best of luck and let us know how it goes!
