300 calories a day?!
I just realized that's all I'm taking in a day. In between Protein drinks and Water, I rarely eat any "real" food. Still on full liquids (and hating it). Just making sure this is normal for someone 12 days post-op.

Schedule tracker?
I'd like to know too. I've tried several apps on my phone already. Maybe I'll just use a pen and notebook. Sheesh! Hey Alex, invent a Bariatric app will ya?

Insurance call / bump in the road?
I'm sure they probably just misplace the paperwork. That's happened to me nuerous times when dealing with an insurance company and doc. Keeping you in my thoughts and crossing my fingers for you!

May 2014 RNY/Bypass Post Op Support Group
@@wagnlo - Isopure are good for not feeling full but they are made of whey protein so they probably won't help until a few months down the road. I've tried every form of protein. I'm still only getting 30g-40g a day (12 days post surgery) so I'm not much help. When I can eat food, I know it will be much better.

Numbness
Around a couple of my incisions, the skin is numb. I know because the incisions are now itchy and I just itch around them. Is the numbness normal?

Changing how I consume my protein
@@Puppypaws57 - oh yeah. Isopure is a perfect "all day" drink. By "one shot" he means at one time, one sitting, one meal. They have those Protein shots they are 42g of protein but you should definitely not have that all at once.

Changing how I consume my protein
Ugh. Just one more thing to worry about. Lol. I was just talking to my hubby about this. He said about 20g-25g per hour. So even though I'm not meeting my daily Protein goals, it seems I'm meeting my hourly protein goals.
-
Please help....
I think that's for "normal" people who haven't had their insides mangled by a highly trained surgeon. I agree that you should always go with the guy/gal who went to medical school. Your body can absorb the Protein - if it couldn't they wouldn't require 60-80g of protein per day! It's just a matter of making that goal - still impossible for me at 11 days out.

Well here we go.. this is me! *pictures included*
thank you so much! I've dealt with negative comments through the past 5 months, people have put me down with the "youre going to get too skinny!" line. it really messed with my head . but coming on here I feel like everyone understands my happiness because they are experiencing the same! so glad I can share my story... There will always be haters out there. It only matters how YOU feel anyway! I also wish I had done this surgery sooner!

So, what's your hurry?
@@InfiniteButterfly - I really want to take yoga again too! It's been a few years but when I did it, I just loved it. I'm really excited to start walking, then moving up to swimming, then hiking and yoga and all the "fun" exercises like Zumba... and dancing in general! Good reasons to fast forward time? I think so.

Lap band removal, RNY scheduled for 06/30/14
@@ladykatie_ please do not be jealous, it's not all fun and games trust me. For 5 weeks I had no restriction and because I feel hungry in every 3 hours I was eating more then what I should have. I only started to feel the restriction about 2 weeks ago, and now I am able to DIET, yes I have to diet, watch what I eat and count calories coz I could eat more then what I actually do. It's hard work, the only thing that changed is less food fills me up, my hunger is not as bad as before surgery and my digestion is different now. Sometimes I wish I would feel disgusted when I look at food but I still love to eat and enjoy my meal, so it makes it that much harder to actually lose weight. It is going to be a hell of a ride It's crazy how different everyone reacts to the surgeries. What happens to me is I'll get nauseous for like 30 minutes and then I'll "feel" hungry. LOL. It's so strange. I'm still trying to gauge hunger vs. nausea vs. stomach pain. Sometimes I just have no idea what I'm feeling at all except terrible or tired. Do you have any particular cravings? I feel like I only crave savory foods instead of sweets now. Which is the opposite of what I used to be.

Family/Friend Support
Today, my aunt told me this: "I hope you are getting back to normal! Remember food tends to be part of our socializing. You need to teach yourself that you can have just as much fun without eating whatever is in front of you or sounds so good. with the small amount of nutrition you can fit in your body, its important to make it count." via Facebook. She was telling me about something else and just threw this in. I thought it was a really helpful and insightful thought. I eat socially A LOT. Eating is a huge part of being with people. Food brings people together. I know it will be a huge challenge for me to overcome but I HAVE to and WILL remember that my body is the only one I've got and I have to take care of it. Tonight, my sister had a farewell gathering of family and friends. Of course, there was lots of yummy food present. I brought an Isopure Protein drink, a greek yogurt and my trusty Water bottle. It's been about a week and a half since surgery, so I'm still in recovery mode, kind of weak and tired. Everyone was giving me great feedback, saying I looked good (I looked a bit sickly during and after my hospital stay) and being very kind and sensitive to my lifestyle change. It was so encouraging. Some of my friends jokingly said they were trying to not eat if I was looking at them. I said no, please, just be normal. I need this. We talked and laughed for the rest of the evening and I had so much fun. I really needed this. In conclusion, laughter is the best medicine. I don't need food to be social and active. I am ever so grateful for the support of my family and friends. I CAN and I WILL succeed in my weight loss/health journey, and I can't wait! Does anyone have any good support stories they want to share?

Heating Pad or Cooling Pad
Hmmm, I didn't use either. Ask your surgeon/doctor/nurse.

What should I take to the hospital?
Wear what you want to wear home. I'd highly suggest a muumuu or very loose dress. I was upset that I brought my comfy pants as I didn't want anything touching my incisions. So this is what I brought (overnight stay only): Insurance card ID Meds I normally take (one of each) Hairtie Bobby pin iPhone and charger The clothes and flip flops I was wearing Seriously that is all you need PLUS a good chapstick! Even that you don't really need. I forgot mine and they just gave me a chapstick of my own. I fit everything I needed in a wristlet. That should be all you have. God forbid you have to stay longer but if you do, your family or friend, I'm sure, would be happy to bring you whatever you needed. Pack LIGHT! And best of luck!!!

It's still hard for me to gauge hunger/fullness. I feel like whenever I see someone eat, I am hungry. But I know I'm not. I just drink water. I agree cold water is the best and easiest to take in. I can now take bigger drinks of water. (Surgery was 5/21)

Going to GNC today. @@allielee - I actually managed to get 26g in less than 8oz of cranberry juice and it's taken me about an hour so far to get it down.... just to give you an example of what it's like. I ordered those whey protein shots, hoping for the best.

So, what's your hurry?
Great post. I have to remember this. I really, really, really want to avoid getting worked up over looking at the scale. I need to have my husband hide it from me, lol. I guess my hurry is also I'm going to my sister's new home on June 19th and I'm just praying to baby Jesus that I fit comfortably in the airplane seat. That's all I really truly want at this point.
