    No appetite post op

    Normal. You were just sleeved.

    Baggy or fitted?

I don't like the swimming look. Makes people notice the loss more in my life. So, Old Nave and Loft were my friends. I spent a lot of money as I lost, but I looked kind of crazy otherwise.
  3. I know when I was within a week or so out, I felt terrible. It seemed like everyone was running marathons and I was in pain. I used my meds, which it seemed was not others' experience. IDK. The nurse who called to check on me said to me that you know you did just get your stomach cut and to take the meds, that why they prescribed them. I needed that. It was so much better by week two. Hope you feel better soon and glad you called your practice. I did not throw up until I started introducing certain foods and that was "normal." My surgeon did want us to call if we were throwing up and/or had a fever over 101.

    Dinner Frustration

Hard to explain but I understand, eating can be a social sharing experience in a way I think. Even family has kind of been weirded out I guess by the little I eat. I see it different than being bothered by what I eat. People would love me to eat a vegetarian or even vegan dish, they just want me to eat. Ha - .

    I want to give up

Not really. I stayed with refried Beans, eggs, etc. My protocol from the surgeon's practice was different than most I see on here. We had tuna at the hospital on day 2. The directions vary a lot! The practice also warned me about chicken, which they suggested to gradually get to by week 4 or so (I had it shredded before then to get my Protein, can't do the canned stuff). Chicken is the one thing that has agreed with me throughout all of this - I struggled with their suggested fish dishes though, which were permitted early on. I listened to my body, went slow, and tried all new things at home (sometimes they came back up and all!).

    I want to give up

I didn't blend a thing - I'm weird about texture. Love these suggestions; it's what I survived on during this stage!

    Dinner Frustration

7 months out. My situation exactly. I do go out and I can tell people kind of get frustrated. One of my friends finally said "why do you even order food!" and it was the way it was said that was telling. With social events, and I like social events, food seems to always be involved! I've tried to avoid the food part. There's little point, it's a waste, etc. I just don't eat that many leftovers and it may be where I live or my network, but folks aren't just wanting me to eat off their plates every time we go out!
  8. Walking was such a pain reliever for me. It worked wonders!
  9. Interesting! You know, I hadn't thought about that. I imagine if we had a vegetarian and/or allergies I would have learned how they accommodate those needs...assuming they do.
  10. Good topic. I'm 7 months out and still experiencing this lack of desire. I do force with Proteins first. This was not the case a few months ago, but now I can eat most proteins without problems, except for beef/steak. It strikes me as very natural to express feelings like this. Even with all of the "warnings" and whatnot, it is something altogether different to go through it.
  11. Nope, no choices. They had us do that nasty drink and xray of the stomach early in the morning, then drink Water and juice. After that, within a few hours we received hospital tuna fish w/ mayo, it wasn't chunky, and the nurses came to make sure we ate some before the docs would release us. The way this practice is run, there was about 10+ of us in the hospital wing that day with various surgeons. We sleevers all had the same protocol. It was actually kind of fun in a way that first night because we would chat about it all during our every 2 hours walk. These were the same people we had to take a pre-op class with at the hospital about 10 days prior to surgery where we went over this protocol. That classmate feel was actually pretty good looking back on it.

    Cancelled Surgery

I understand these feelings. I always struggled to put them out there because I would have to defend MY feelings if I paid attention to every post. Thanks for sharing and I hope you feel better very soon. Now that it is done, we can only control our reactions.

    Sliming / Throwing Up

I did based on certain foods for a good 3-4 months (I'm 7 months out now). I tracked my foods and avoided them for a month or so and then tried again. Some went down fine, some did not and I would try again in a few weeks. From that experience, I only tried new post-op foods at home! Now, it does not really happen with foods. Instead, it happens with my Multivitamin if I do not eat with them. That surprises me because the Vitamins were fine without food those first few months. The body is something else.
  14. I had a hard time with these drastic differences initially. My doc didn't release us from the hospital until we ate some tuna salad, which they consider soft food. That was the day after surgery! I rarely see that on here. I trust it. I never stalled or felt overly weak. The lack of carbs in general definitely led to some mid-workout struggles though!

    Poop Post-Op

Very normal topic! I didn't want the side effects of reliance on laxative-type products and it was brutal. I eventually caved with milk of magnesia during the first 3 months or so. No more than once a week. I always took daily Probiotics and continue to do so. Now (from about month 4 to present of month 7), I go on my own about 2-3 a week. Not at all like I used to but I'm glad it came back - ha!
