    band to sleeve (bcbs horizon?)

I had band to sleeve revision on 10/26/16. I could not be happier with my decision! It is true that because of the restriction of the band, you may not lose as fast. But you will definitely be able to tell the difference. Just remember, everyone's journey is different and what happens for them may not be the same for you. Follow the rules, eat right, exercise, keep your head up and keep your eyes on the prize. Best of luck

    October sleevers?

Jess31581, I don't have a preoperative diet. I am a band to sleeve revision so I am just going to do the same diet I did before i got my band. But my surgeon doesn't require one. Sent from my SM-T350 using the BariatricPal App

  5. Hello All, I am a bariatric patient and I work for Pulmonary answer sleep docs. I can reassure you that you will be fine. Back sleeping or side sleeping doesn't really matter. If you stop breathing or have a low O2 concentration while you sleep is pretty much what they're looking for. You can do home studies but they are less accurate because it is up to the patient to record the data correctly. There is a variable for error. Anyway, if you have any questions I'd be happy to try to answer them for you. And Rosey posey, I work for MC Pulmonary and Sleep out East. Who is doing your surgery? The Waiting Game

So I had my psych evaluation today and my last appointment with the surgeon's office. Now they prepare and submit the paperwork to the insurance. This is, as you all know, and ungodly long process. But I have a feeling that the next 2 to 6 weeks are going to be unbearable!!! And to top it all off, the Nurse Practioner told me that I can't gain 1oz!!!! 1oz....REALLY!?!?!?! WISH ME LUCK! Sent from my SM-T350 using the BariatricPal App

    Aetna ***

I also have Aetna through my employer. I went to the Aetna page and printed the 55 pages on WLS. No where in there does it say that you can't gain any weight. But that is one of the first things the Nutritionist told me. She said that the insurance will deny you for 1oz of weight gain. Trust your doctor and his team! This is what they do. They won't tell you anything wrong. And they know what is needed and just how to get you approved. They will do all in there power to get you approved. I am a band to sleeve revision who just finished my last Nutritionist appt. losing only 8lbs. Psychological evaluation is July 18. No scheduled date yet and I have no idea what will happen with my insurance but I trust my doctor and his team. Best of luck to you all!!! Sent from my SM-T350 using the BariatricPal App

Ohio gal with June 3, 2016 surgery

Hi, I'm in Columbus too. Having surgery at Mount Carmel West with Dr. Miller. I was actually hoping for early August but I am going to have to put mine off until October I think. I am in desperate need of a total knee replacement!!! I am really kind of devastated about it but know that in the long run i will be better off. I also work for Mount Carmel at a Pulmonary specialists office and I think, as someone else said, as long as your lungs are clear you should be fine. Sent from my SM-T350 using the BariatricPal App

    Curious CPAP question for ya'll

@@Rainy Days, I work for Pulmonology/Sleep Doctors and the one thing they nor the DME company will never tell you is that you don't have to be asleep to record compliance!!!! I mean ideally this is when you have apneas and that is what the machine is for. But, you can wear it anytime and it will record. When I got mine, and even sometimes now, I will put it on while watching TV/Movie. And yes, most new machines are wireless, so they can time. One thing to keep in mind, if there comes a point in the future that you no longer need your cpap, you can sell it for a pretty penny!!! Because they are so expensive with insurance people are always looking for a good deal on a nice machine. Or, people who travel that want a second cpap to travel with. Just a thought!!!

    Curious CPAP question for ya'll

Did the DME company put you on a rental program? Most of the time you rent the machine per insurance for 13 months and then you own the Cpap. But if in that time you loose a significant amount of weight and feel like the Cpap is not necessary, you can have another sleep study. If you had mild apnea it shouldn't be a problem once you drop some weight to get off of the cpap. It does completely suck that even with mild apnea that your surgeon is requiring a cpap for you. At this point, I am willing to do just anything to get this WLS over and done. Just when you think you have jumped through the last hoop, another is tossed in front of you!!

    Curious CPAP question for ya'll

I can tell you that there are very stringent guidelines for cpap equipment just like there is for WLS. Insurance companies don't want to pay for anything they don't need to. So there must be a medically necessary diagnosis. And a doctor can't just say that you have apnea. There are parameters that must be met. Sent from my SM-T350 using the BariatricPal App
