I agree the best thing we can do for looks is have a good fitting bra. I can't imagine going to Victoria Secret to buy a bra. Unheard of in my size. I plan on buying some cheaper ones to get by with until I reach goal but I know I must have a good fit along the way to look and feel best. At 39 pounds gone I am out of some bras I own and some fit great so I have a little time but it will be nice to buy off the rack.

What will you (or did you) most look forward to in your life after WLS?
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to patrice1's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had RNY in March and I made a journal of these type of thoughts, feelings, pictures of outfits I looked forward to, thoughts and reflections, etc. It is fun to go to whenever I need it or want. Big for me was I want to not be an obstacle people move around. I want to express my classic style in clothes that fit-not what is available in my size. I want to feel good in my own skin. Hope. Now that I am 39 pounds lighter I do feel HOPE and it is amazing! I cleaned out my closet and clothes were too big and lots fit, and looked great. HOPE! It is amazing. HOPEFUL FOR THE FUTURE! No meds for diabetes! HOPE! I now want to be in pictures! Imagine that! -
March surgery

I, too, am hit or miss with some foods. chicken is at times fine and other times not so fine. It is frustrating but I wouldn't change it for anything. I am loving the losing weight issue and clothes fitting so nicely. We are newbies so I expect it will be like this for a while. I am getting compliments all the time and that is nice to hear. It feels good. I am down almost 40 pounds (39) and near going under the 200 mark so that is exciting! People keep asking me "Do you feel diffferent?" I don't. I feel better about my appearance but I don't feel better ie more energy or anthing. Do you feel different? In what wqy? -
Hot nose! Really hot!
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Sparklingbeauty53's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes, chalk it up to experience. Not to be repeated! -
I went out to eat last night and ordered a semi-spicy chicken dish that was scrumptous. I enjoyed it and chewed very slowly. It was all goood until the heat bothered me and I had to take a drink-without thinking and I took a gulp of my husband's Water. A big gulp. Bad idea it caused the foamies and i made it to the bathroom in time but threw up-out my nose, yada yada yada. The next 45 minutes or so my nose tingled with the hot from the chicken dish. it was funny and annoying all at once. The heat did not bother my stomach or throat.

Calcium Citrate with D

Thanks for the post. I am apparently not taking enough. I will check this out. -
It is hard not to judge yourself here. My weight loss is less than most everyone else's. Mine is slower. I know it could be my PCOS, the fact that I did not get put on a pre-op diet, my metabolism, age, etc but I am only at 39 pounds and everyone is higher. I am thrilled with where I am and where I am going but I just wanted to vent...seems I am the turtle not the hare.

Premature Wardrobe Cleanout
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Smashelle's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My psychologist recommended we clean out once things start getting baggy to free us of old baggage. I loved that idea so this weekend it is purge, purge, purge! -
I work at a school that is church owned and they have periodic rummage sales. They are having now and I went and tried on about 20 outfits yesterday. I came home with 16 blouses!!!! I paid on average $3.75 a piece and it felt so good to try on things that actually looked great. When the next one comes i plan on doing it again and giving them all of these clothes because I plan on them being too big! What a joy this is. I am wearing a new top today and feel great. We need NSVs like this to boost us along and confirm we are on the right track. That closet idea sounds cool too. May have to check that out!

You must do what it right for you. YOU are going through it and YOU have to live with it. Do your homework and let your heart and brain decide.

Remember when Oprah turned 50? How her whole life came together and she was happier than ever in her own skin and she stated how great life was? Well, that is us now! We are that age and life is good and if it isn't we are working on making it better. I believe it is a great age and we are blessed to have all the mistakes and joys we have had and we are moving down on this journey smarter for it. Let's Celebrate us and have a healthy decade of the 50s! -
Oh, what part of that was susposed to make me feel good? lol x3

I knew in my heart this was the right thing to do for my health and today I received concrete evidence. My diabetes is normal. I was on 5 medicines including insulin before surgery. My liver enzymes are normal. I did have fatty liver evidence. My other blood tests were normal except for my cholesterol which I will accept. I am just thrilled and it is just the beginning for me! My surgery was 3/3 and I am seeing results. I can now say I am healthy and it feels great! Thank you RNY and thank you to God for this opportunity!

It will be romantic if you make it romantic. Perhaps by a tree or favorite park or coffee shop? The courhouse wouldn't be my choice but it could be yours. Just put some planning into it and it will be perfect and just the way you want it. Congratulations. Oh mine was perfect-a huge affair and planned for a year but that was what I wanted. It is your day to do as you want!

Ok I eat emotionally too but if I am happy I eat. If I am sad, I eat. If I am upset, I eat. Nothing makes me not want to eat. Except right now with my RNY. Do I worry about what will happen with the appetite comes back? Yes. But lets uncover the keys to this and then be free. I am in and willing to do the work. Ladies let's do it-but how?

March surgery
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to kerrilunney's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It is a continuing thing. I had Mahi that was too dry and scrambled eggs that were over-cooked and both of these had to come back up. It is a very sensitive stomach for sure. I was away for the weekend and couldn't control the cooking and I learned the hard way-if it is over cooked I am going to send it back before it goes in my mouth. It is easier to send it back then to have my stomach send it back up my mouth. -

March surgery
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to kerrilunney's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am trying to be cool with this because I know it is temporary but Iam losing handfuls of hair! My doctor said it is not from lack of Protein it is normal because we are losing weight faster than our hair follicles can handle. Biotin won't help they say. I don't know, but my hair is on the thin side to begin with and I don't have any to spare. Thanks for allowing me to vent. -
Nuts and such
Sparklingbeauty53 replied to Timothy J. Esslinger's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Chew, Chew, Chew and remember nuts are great sources of Protein but can be high calorie so do so in small quantities. I love nuts too. Almonds are harder to chew, that is true so I like the slivered ones. Watch out though, I had to wait to eat some as my first time was a reject. -
