    Post Op March 2014

Shannon26 I am so sorry your experience hasn't been the best! I have had 2 strictures as well and possibly a 3rd but I am fighting that. My weightloss is much slower 39 and holding!!!!!! but I know it will come off and I am not worried-I am on track just not exercising like I should be. I am working on that-setting a goal to run a 5 k and that takes practice and training!!!! Hang in there, some of us are on a smooth track and some have the rough one-we are on the rough one but we will get on the smooth one soon! This is worth it!

    Hello! Introducing myself GBS woman

Healthyme1963 thank you for the kind words! We are on this journey together! How sweet!
  6. I had RNY for one reason and one reason only: to get healthy. At 53 my health was severely compromised. I had uncontrolled type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease, sleep apnea, PCOS, anxiety, panic, depression and recently battled Guillane-Barre Disease(also called GBS). I am still struggling with the Guillane-Barre but I am doing so well I hardly count it. I couldn't walk or talk when I was full blown with it so now I am much better. I was on 5 medicines for diabetes including insulin and my Endocrinologist suggested RNY. After much thought, prayer and research I decided it was the right thing for me. I applied to insurance and after 6 months of doctor visits and NUT visits I was cleared. My rebirth date was March 3, 2014. Now the journey begins...I healed small so I have had 2 anastomotic strictures and resulting out patient procedures to fix. I am hoping that is all I will need. Ironically, I am a GBS woman times 2!

    Guess my Occupation

I am a preschool receptionist. I love kids! I retired from a career as a claims adjuster negotiating bodily injury claims with attorneys. It was a high power miserable job that paid well and now I am happy and poor! Lol

    Antidepressants after surgery

I take celexa and have had no problems. I believe the fullness you are feeling is normal and not related to the Lexapro at all. It is a small stomach now and you are going to be full a lot now.

    Has anyone hear of this?

I have heard good things about that. I believe it costs about $40.00 a month but I am not sure.
  10. I agree the only thing I miss is being able to drink Water the old way, big gulps. It is amazing I don't miss anything else.

    Feelings hurt bad :(

When something is said to me that is hurtful I right away say "What part of that was supposed to make me feel better?" or "What part of that was supposed to make me feel good about myself?" It shuts them up every time, and makes them think. You might have to have a heart to heart with that person telling them their comments are hurtful and why. If they don't know they will repeat the behavior.

    Icky experience

Don't forget the iron we are taking can be game changers too. Iron causes constipation for some. I am sorry for your issues too. Hope it is smooth sailing from here on!
  14. Pinksjo1 You are awesome! 100 pounds is phenomenal! A very steep goal and you have done it. You are an inspiration to all of us. I know you will do the 30 pounds as well. You rock!

    Your Big Goal Celebration

Thank you for making me dream up my answer! I want to look good in a pair of normal jeans (no elastic) and wear a white top that looks good and is tucked in. Once I own and fit in those I probably won't want to take them off. Oh Victoria Secret undergarments too. I also want a sparkling dress that just looks elegant, tasteful and shows pretty curves. A long evening gown one. Movie star award show like I can use on cruises. Oh and I hope the hubby buys me a new diamond ring to show he'd marry me all over again-I love sparkle!!!!! Maybe enhance the one I have. Add diamonds all around it and on the band....Oh I can dream!

    My "Why"

So happy for you. My bff researched all about RNY so she could understand why and what I was doing without telling me. When I first met her she felt she was a stupid person and I showed her to stop that nonsense and now she looks up things and tries to understand... I am so proud of her! Friends are so important to have along the way!
