Hi I'm from Toronto and the wait was 9 months. My surgery date is January 9th.
Hi tristantanople, my surgery date is January 21st. Which surgeon/hospital are you having your surgery at?
-
Thanks @bigbattynatty. I'm sure everyone probably has the same fears. I'm choosing to ignore them and hope for the best????. How did you do on Optifast? I'm dreading that part????
-
Hey there! Same here, I was told Dr. Aarts then day of surgery I got Dr. Cyriac. I have great days mostly but the last two days have been challenging with my stomach rejecting foods and nausea. However with that said I have no regrets. How about you?
I'm getting nervous and a bit scared but will go through with it (I hope)....
-
Hey! I'm not in Hamilton but Brampton. I did the Roux En Y in November, exactly one month today. Good luck with your surgery, who is your surgeon? I had Dr. Jamie Cyriac.
I think I have Dr Cyriac as well. It was supposed to be Dr Aarts but somehow got switched. How has you experience been so far?
-
Hey I'm from Brampton too! Just had mine in November and recovering now.
How is you're recovery going?

Still holding out hope that I'll meet some people doing their surgeries at St. Joseph's in Hamilton!
Hi anewme2015, how is your progress so far? My surgery is scheduled for Jan 21st. Getting kind of nervous but also excited to finally start this journey.
-
I can only speak from my experience and say that this ha been a six month process for me. I started in August 2014 and after Orientation was able to move up all my appointments. I was done all my appointments by November. I guess the process can be lengthy to give people a chance to fully aborb the process and to prepare for the lifestyle changes that are required
I started in March 2014 and will have surgery in January 2015. I'm almost there. Can't wait ????

Congratulations I really like how informatuve the process is at TWH
I do too however it takes a very long time from the time you have decided that you want this until the actual procedure. I think 6 months should be more than enough time to weed out the people that are serious and really want this.

I am in Toronto and looking for a mentor . My surgery date is Jan 13th 2015 at TWH
My surgery date is January 21 at TWH.

Hi, I'm Shirley. I'm 42 and never married. The me underneath the weight is a girl who loves God and creating art. One of my dreams is to be able to make a living as an artist. Which is why I work full time as a bank teller lol. I love Contemporary Christian music, Pure Flix films, NCIS, and old episodes of Northern Exposure. I'm a total book nerd, as evidenced by my book hoarding.
I've struggled with my weight for most of my adult life, and as a result, my life always seemed to be on hold. You know, "I'll meet the right guy when I lose weight", "I'll find a better job once I get down a few pounds". I'm an introvert by nature, and the weight gave me a convenient excuse to just exist rather than live.
In a way, I feel like having sleeve surgery is like hitting the reset button on my life. It's a second chance. And I don't want to waste it.
I know exactly how you feel. I keep waiting for my life to start????

Still waiting on a date and yes I have lots of doubts but not enough not to go through with it...I hope!

So far very easy. You have to have lots of patience which I have none of????.

Hello Briwls, I'm from Acton which is pretty close to Brampton. Congratulations on your weight loss! I'm still going through all of the pre-op appointments. Can't wait for my turn.
-
I believe my doctor sent in my referral in March and my first appt was in June. It's a very long process...
-
I have to meet with the nutritionist next Friday and then hopefully they will tell me when I can meet the surgeon. I'm hoping to have the surgery by the end of the year but I think that's wishful thinking.
-
Hello, I'm not from Hamilton but I'm not too far away. I live in Acton and am hoping to have the bypass this year. What procedure are you thinking of getting done?
-
why so long ?? I was told we are all self pay in Canada, I am getting banded on sept 17
The band is not covered. Only the bypass and sometimes the sleeve.
-
So exciting! Thank you for the info.
Any Canadians? Ontario?
