  1. Yes, I can relate! I'm 3 days out and the syrup they sent me home with for pain made me vomit! I was in so much pain last night and this morning that I went to the ER earlier today and was given a morphine & IV fluids. They also changed my pain meds to Oral morphine tabs. Still hurts but I can function and walk through it better now. I am not hungry yet though. Thank goodness! I hope you feel better soon. I believe it will get better and we will be a big success. Just keep on truckin!
  2. Thank you for your input! I find this forum so helpful. They gave me liquid Tylenol w/Codine to take at home from the hospital yesterday. It was so nasty that I threw up both times I tried it yesterday. So no pain aide for the night, I hardly slept etc. I just now left Kaiser ER, They gave me a shot of morphine and a bag of fluids and sent me home with morphine for my pain as well. It still hurts but at least now I can walk through it.
  3. I got home yesterday. My surgery was Thurs. The pain I am experiencing is in sharp in my back and chest area. Is this the gas everyone was talking about. It hurts to walk, I am taking the gas x strips and trying to walk. Someone please tell me any other ways to make this pass. I am not a complaining baby type but this has got to go. HELP!!!
  4. Yes, I have pain meds, gas strips, anti nausea, antacid and stool, softeners. Thank u! So Grateful that my mom is here being sweet and helpful to me.
  5. I had my surgery yesterday. I have to do all liquids as well. Support is always great! We can buddy up and support each other.
  6. Surgery yesterday, I just made it home. Overall I'm feeling alright. A bit sore but better than expected! Not sure if things will get much worse when the morphine wears off but I will keep u posted! I just wanted to say that I really love this site and all the wonderful support you encounter with people going through similar experiences. My new journey has begun and I am so grateful!!!!
  7. Yay!!!! Congratulations! Today is mine as well. My check in is at 9am. Haven't slept a wink but thank God the wait is over!!! Prayers of a full and speedy recovery and much success on this journey my friend! =)
  8. It is almost here! I haven't been nervous just excited up to now and here comes the nerves... I have been so busy preparing and getting everything in place. I am a single mom so I had to make arrangements for my son to go with other family through the weekend. I am very excited and welcome all prayers for tomorrow. I should get the call today telling me the time. =)
  9. One more day! Yay! June 5th!!! I am so excited!!!
  10. I too have struggled with being heavy most of my life. I have not had mine yet. I'm scheduled for my sleeve in just two days, which has me thinking the same things. I know that a lot of local hospitals that perform bariatric surgeries also hold bariatric support groups. At least they do in CA where I am. I will be trying to attend those. Talking to a therapist also sounds like a good option for me and may be very helpful to work past the initial feelings of food deprivation. Also getting down to the causes and conditions of why I eat the way I do etc...After putting ourselves through something this major, we should go to Great Lengths to ensure our own Personal Success. Good Luck to u! =)
  11. Omg, I thought I was a freak. I did this for years starting as a teenager. I had bald Patches on each backside of my head. I ended up shaving the back of my head leaving the top part down. I got it under control years back and don't pull it anymore. Now I am a little nervous, Yikes!!!
  12. O.A. does frown on WLS. It is ultimately up to us though. I too am seven years clean and sober. I am at a place where I know if I put the effort out I can do anything. I love the support of a group of people going through the same thing though. I know Kaiser offers bariatric support classes and they are quite good. A lot of hospitals also offer bariatric support classes. Much luck to you!!!
  13. OMG,YAY!!!!!! I am so excited for u and for myself as well! Mine is on Thursday!!! This is a life changing thing we are doing for ourselves!!! I wish you so much luck and success at this. Will say a prayer for you tomorrow. That all goes well and u have a speedy recovery. Keep us posted!!! =)
  14. Hello. I get my VSG in 5 days. Are there any other Vitamins I should be avoiding (aside from the multi) right before my surgery? I guess the Vitamin E in the multi can cause too much bleeding or something.
  15. Yes, I take Probiotic 10 by Natures bounty @ costco. Two capsules has over 20 billion live probiotic cultures and organisms. I took them when I had surgery last year and I believed they really helped with my speedy recovery!
  16. June 5th surgery here!!! I am just excited! Not afraid! I can't wait!!! =)
  17. My surgery is this coming Thursday so I cannot say for certain yet. However, I was just on a forum page that spoke about the difference between over-eating and food addiction. I felt already that I will need a support group as I know I have that food addiction. They also have a 12 step overeaters forum going as well. I hope you find something u can substitute those cakes and cookies with. I am going to do whatever it takes to be successful at this. Good luck my friend!
  18. So I created and saved my tickers, it's set to public but not showing up after my posts? Is there anything I'm doing wrong or something else I need to do for them to show??
  19. Congrats! You are almost there and you look great! I get my sleeve on the 5th of June. Less than a week. Yay!!! I had my sister takesome before pics of me in my bra and underwear. Yuck! Can't imagine ever wanting to showing them to anyone. Think I'll take some more befores with a bit more clothes on. No matter how much weight I get off, between my stretch marks and surgery scars, my belly will never be bikini worthy Lol!
  20. No, not really. I got the lapband in 4/09 and had it removed 4/13. I had my band filled a 5 most the time I had it. In my experience Bandster hell is when you eat and the food sits on top of your port or gets stuck making you feel like you are choking and often have to vomit the food in your esophagus back out so u can breathe. This happened to me whenever I ate white meat chicken, and most bread. I quickly learned the foods to avoid. Also, it got so uncomfortable sitting and sleeping with my band. I did loose weight but It was too uncomfortable for me to live with. I am scheduled for my gastric sleeve surgery on 6/5, I wish u much luck with your band!
  21. Thanks Ladies. I tripled up on vitamin C. I'm really praying it passes...
  22. I don't know why it is but I feel scratchy and sore in my throat all of the sudden this evening. That may not sound that bad to most people but my surgery is in 6 days. Also, when I get a throat cold it 80% of the time turns to strep throat. I need my body to be in full health and able to focus on healing after surgery. I have to got to my doctor tomorrow and demand an antibiotic. I do not want to postpone my surgery. Everything is set at work, childcare, the whole thing! Feeling frazzled and concerned.
  23. I really loved her story. I have spent much time thinking pros and cons of what it will be like when I lose it all. She gave me a couple I never thought of. My surgery is next week and so my post will have to be continued....
  24. I had the band placed in 4/09 outside of Kaiser. I now have Kaiser and Last year I had the band removed and was scheduled for the bypass at the same time but changed my mind last minute on having the gastric bypass done. Fast forward a year later and I am scheduled next week on 6/5 to have the gastric sleeve. So yes, They will do revisions. Good luck to you!
  25. It isn't easy! I have not been able to stick to my preop diet as planned either. I think we will be ok if we don't binge when we step off our plan. Thank God I don't have someone bringing Krispy Kremes though. Good luck and don't stop trying!
