  1. I can really relate to u. The psychological issue with wanting to eat even when I'm not hungry thankfully has subsided somewhat! I had my surgery June 5th and think it might be best for me to go back to liquids and purees again. I liked the comment from the lady a year out saying she took in 6- 800 cal per day. I need to get serious if I plan for this to be a success. Good luck my friend!

  2. Congratulations on the 50Ibs loss. I do understand how you feel though. I was banded for 4 years myself. Lost and maintained a 60 lb loss. I too was at 5cc the majority of the time, didn't exercise as recommended etc. Ultimately, the discomfort of the port did it for me as I learned to eat around the discomfort of the restriction. I had it removed last April. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op with the sleeve now. It's hard not to compare yourself to others but I think you should be proud of how far you've come.

  3. Yes, I am 3 weeks 4 days. Since getting sleeved I have developed acid reflux I never had before. I was given Pepcid as one of my take home meds but that wasn't cutting it. Now I am on Prilosec and all is much better. Good luck to u! No regrets! In a few months when we get these little tweaks figured out and weight is dropping. I believe it will all be worth it!!!

  4. You too huh? I have not stopped to rest since I got home from the hospital. I have so much going on I just can't seem to catch a break. We SHOULD be resting some. I am 19 days out. The staples hurt more because your skin is starting to heal all around them and then one weird turn or reach can make it feel like it's tearing a bit. The large incision area is the most painful though. I'm past the pain and itching like crazy!!! Good luck to u and try to take it easy!!!

  5. I had the lapband in 4/2009 outside of Kaiser. Fast forward to 4/2013, I was very uncomfortable with the band and was now with Kaiser. I attended the options classes and really loved Dr Nanda who was over them. In fact, Being almost 3 weeks post op I made an apt to see him. I felt he really cared about helping me find a plan for me and those classes really benefit me. At any rate, I had my band removed at the Harbor City/LA with Dr Gary Belzberg last year. A few Years prior my step mom had her bypass surgery there with a different MD and encountered Dr Belzberg during an ER visit and did not like the lack of compassion in her own Dr. I remember her telling me I was so lucky I was given him to perform my surgery. I had the gastic sleeve on 6/5/14 and am quite pleased so far! I seriously recommend going to the bariatric support classes Kaiser offers. They are so helpful to me. Good luck to you!!!

  6. I had the lapband for 4 years, had it removed last year and am 18 days post op with the sleeve. I don't think it compares at all. The lapband was a discomfort all it's own with that tightening, stuck pressure of what your eating pushing through your band. The sleeve is definitely more of a full or overfull ache. Not at all similar in my experience...

  7. I too was banded in 2009 but had it removed last year due to discomfort and just got sleeved 18 days ago. What has happened is you learned to eat around your band, as I did. Your stomach is the same size it's been. Your only restriction is the band itself limiting how much you can take in at once. As I'm sure you know, once it passes through you can eat more. Although we probably should stop at that point. At any rate, I wish you much luck with your weight loss and a perfect wedding next year.

  8. Hi and it's difficult at first trying to feel and figure out our new bodies. I am 17 days out and am on purees. I have to admit I have tried other things chewed them well and have been ok with no pain. Last night however I got a little bold and overate and was so sick. It's best to stick to Drs orders! I don't always get a full feeling though. Sometimes I get the hiccups and that will let me know I'm good. Maybe someone a bit further out than either of us can fill us in on when to know when you are full.

  9. Hey,to each his own... There's no opinion on here anyone should be taking over, their own DOCTOR! This is a forum of people to support others going through the same things. You can take some, you can leave some. I personally love and appreciate the support this site offers. Good luck to you. Hope u find whatever it is u are looking for.
