  1. Thank you all! I cried a whole bunch and am going through the "my life is over" phase. It'll pass, and I'll be ok. Hopefully in 6 months, everything will be healed. I am SO GLAD that damn band is gone though!!! Good riddance!
  2. I went in this morning for mine.. I was having a band removed and GB done. About 5 hours after waking up, my surgeon told me that he only took the band out but nothing else. Apparently I had stomach erosion and a hard esophagus. Now I have to wait at least 6-8 months for everything to heal and then he will look at scar tissue to see if it's doable. Worst day ever.
  3. I'm right there with you. In this ugly smock..waiting! I was hyped before I got here, now I've had plenty of waiting room time to think lol. Good luck!
  4. With all due respect y'all, I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one around here! Lol! Thanks for the replies so far. Whew.
  5. Please someone tell me that you're as emotional as I am! My surgery is on Monday (June 30) and I'm losing it! It's everything from "what if I die?" to "what if I mess up the diet"...and ALL the small things in between. My fiancé probably thinks I'm nuts because I've cried the last two nights. And maybe the death part is because my old self really will be dying in a sense. I don't know but I'm pretty much psycho at this point!
  6. Hey guys! Yeah I'm on my liquid diet now. Surgery is Monday, the 30th... Ugh! Too many liquids! My surgeon put me on a 2 week diet and, well, this thing sure doesn't get an easier!
  7. It's only a matter of time before someone in Richmond rolls through!
  8. My doc says no gummies, because of sugar mostly. Flint stones chewables are the way to go IMO!
  9. My date was rescheduled from June 12th to June 30th this morning. Totally bummed out today.
  10. Anyone else having theirs on the 12th!? I have my pre-op on the 2nd and am expecting a week of liquids.
  11. I'm pre-op GB, but have lap band currently.. My port is on my left side and I occasionally get these sharp shooting pains by my port area. Can't wait to get this stupid band out of me!
  12. Soon, ladies, soon!
  13. You look great! And thanks, I'm sooo excited!
  14. Id love to find someone to buddy with that has the same interests! I'm 32, married to Air Force for nearly 8 years, soon to be navy wife! I've got no kids. Having my GB surgery June 12 and I've already had Lap Band done back in 2010. Feel free to post here or PM me.. Out of state people too!
  15. Hey y'all, sorry to thread necro.. my pre-op is June 2, surgery June 12! I'm heading to the naval hospital in Portsmouth with Dr. Mann. Living in Hampton!
  16. YMCA is the best! Not only do they have fantastic water workouts, but they will work with you if you can't afford their membership. You have to show your income but go and fill it out, put down what y can afford. They won't turn anyone away! They also have trainers there that won't break your bank, all kinds of yoga and group classes, etc.
  17. I'm having mine done on June 12 at the naval hospital, too. I actually saw dr barker the first time I went but dr Mann is mine now. Barker is a good doc, he gives it to ya straight...all those docs there do! I'm up in hampton, btw, would love to get a hampton roads group going.
  18. A friend weighed nearly 500 and had it, he's at a healthy weight and was extremely successful! My cousin weighed just a bit under 400 and she was down to 130s, but gained about 20 lb back.
  19. You've got to really put your mind to it. Are you emotionally eating due to your hubby being away, or for any other reason? Did you feel hungry because you were actually hungry or because you just wanted something "better" to eat? You've got to figure out why you're sabotaging yourself before its time for surgery or this will all be a waste!
  20. I am also in the process of doing this. I'm almost 4.5 years out with my band. I only lost about 25 lbs but have gained it back! I have type 2 diabetes and pcos. My current surgeon told me that the band is NOT for people with 100 lbs to lose and it is NOT for someone with diabetes. He also said they are taking out more bands than they are putting in. (I'm going to the naval hospital in Portsmouth, VA; its huge so i'd imagine that they see a lot of these!) I have seen quite a few people able to lose 100 lbs but they were already very verrrry overweight. I don't know how many were diabetic. I do know that I'm pissed! I needed to lose this weight 5 years ago, so I'm beyond ready for june 12 to be here. My doctor says my surgery will take about an hour and a half, but has allotted 3 hours for it in case of any band complications. Keep us informed on how things go for you!
  21. I'm june 12 also! I live down in virginia though. My pre-op appt is june 2, so not sure exactly when I'm starating liquids yet. Good luck!
  22. June 12!! Couldnt be more excited!
