Anyone who has done the clear liquid/broth preop diet, can you add unflavored Protein to either, otherwise I will have no protein and I have one killer headache. ALSO!!! I bought an eight pack of lemonlime Powerade zero, not something I normally drink, and somehow as I started my third one, I realize I bought the regular powerade not the zero, I had over 70 carbs and 270 calories this morning. No wonder my sugar levels were fine, I was checking to make sure didnt go too low.

5 Days Post Op....horrible Diarrhea!
I am so sorry, this is one of my biggest fears. I work in my car and a bathroom is normally not close by. I am still preop for a couple more days but I wont see soft foods for a while after surgery, I think its 3 weeks before pureed, not sure if that is the same thing. Are you having milk products, maybe some lactose intolerance? try soy milk if you are.

Need help!
Use a phone app for logging your food, they make it very easy, many things you can just scan the bar code and set the serving size. Myfitnesspal and loseit, are two very good ones. Can you find a hobby, don't watch TV, the commercials would make Ghandi crack. When you feel weak, call a buddy, find one here. You are suffering from head hunger, girl. Also, read something very helpful when you have a slip/binge etc. link is below. http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/01/bf-survival-guide-to-making-it-through.html

@@Beni, in regards to a sippy cup in the hospital, I have heard that the nurses line up 1 oz dixie cups with your liquids to keep track of how much Fluid you are getting in. Anyone who has just had surgery, is that how it was for you? @@dc0520, hope you are doing ok, can I as what brand of shake it was, I might want to avoid that one, though it makes sense about waiting too long.

For those on liquid diets now.
Day 5 ARRRGGGHHH! Been tempted to cheat all day. Went to walmart and tracked down the no sugar added fudgecicles. Or course I start clear liquids only tomorrow, then bowel prep on Monday. Tuesday RNY bypass.

Thought I was all set on the sleeve until.....
I was told by my NUT, that they leave the stomach for emergencies such as an accident or a stomach cancer, you still have good tissue there. Just repeating what I heard.

My surgeon, Dr Nguyen at NE GA Medical Center, seems to be that way. He will not even agree to do the surgery until you meet his expectations on the presurgery diet, your food/exercise journal and meeting attendance. After 4 months of seeing him, he agreed to do my surgery. And he said that was fairly quick.

Anyone else 5'0" and 205?
Roux en y gastric bypass, I have diabetes, hiatal hernia, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, so my doctor said that the gastric bypass is my best option. I was thinking sleeve as not quit as drastic, but with the hiatal hernia it was really not an option for me. Been heavy all my life with lots of yoyoing, but the last 6 years all of these comorbities had materialized, need to get my health under control.

@Beni I always picture the surgeon like the great and powerful oz, behind the curtain, running the robot.

Anyone else 5'0" and 205?
I started my journey at 4'11 and 224, I did a very strict diet for 6.5 months and now am 174. My surgery is Tuesday 10/14, and cant wait to see where I end up. Never been thin in my life, been obese since puberty.

Hairloss Stopped!
Ever hear of hair falling out before surgery, I have been losing for about a month and a half and surgery is not til 10/14. I did lose 50 over the last six months on the preop diet. Very stressed and menopausal to boot. Hoping my stopping point will be sooner because of it, but doubt it.

Day three liquid diet, my one serving of grits/oatmeal makes this do-able. No one else has experienced hairloss presurgey, wonder if the 50 pounds I already lost since March plays into it. Stress and menopause moat likely, but not good. Want the surgery behind me, Tues the 14th, can't come soon enough.
