    Guess my Occupation

    ooh construction worker.
  3. I kind of miss my sweet tooth. After surgery and having drank those Protein shakes, I don't handle sweet things very well. I can barely tolerate a shake - drink it because I have to but too sweet.
  4. Honestly, you may need someone to come and visit with you. I slept for a good part of the time but got bored very easily. I also am under a lift ban of nothing heavier then 10 lbs until a month after my surgery date (no pulling/pushing/lifting) so I need a little help cleaning the house and you may be the same way.
  5. Update: Now DOUBLE the loss I was able to do without my sleeve. It truly was one of the best decisions of my life.
  6. Back Story: When I was ten, I was put on medication that I ended up going toxic on and it almost totally killed my metabolism and my weight shot up to over 120 - before then I was maybe 45 lbs (very short and petite). Since then I've steadily put on weight In 2010 I decided to try and control my weight through various diets and exercise - never losing more then 10lbs through out each before stalling and gaining the 10 lbs back. Since 2010 I've weighed between 230 -240 mostly at the high end. fast forward to late December of 2013 when mom heard about a bariatric seminar being held at a local hospital and encourage me and my dad to go check it out and see if it was all about and if it was a good fit for us or not. Dad and I went to the seminar and got the info. Ultimately dad decided against it and I was unsure and needed a little time to think on it. January of 2014, I decided to make the year about getting healthy and made the decision to pursue WLS. I made an appointment and the doctor and I decided on the Sleeve and I started the process. weighed 240. Early April 2014 I submitted for insurance approval and received it. then the rest of April and beginning of may was the second stage of pre-op appointments - blood work, cardiac clearance, x-rays e.t.c. May 21st, 2014 (the day my life changed) I was sleeved at 2:30 pm. Don't remember anything past the anesthesiologist giving me a shot of what he called "happy juice". I briefly remember waking up and being told I was in my patient room and would I like the nurse to let my mom know the room number (she had to work and couldn't stay at the hospital during the surgery). post discharge: so far, the beginning was rough, I couldn't really keep anything down and was dry heaving every time I took my pain meds. called the surgeon and he prescribed a steroid to reduce swelling which help me get fluids in but didn't stop the dry heaving. I figured out a day later that the pain meds themselves were making me nauseated and switched to Tylenol which wouldn't. I have been totally off Tylenol since may 25th. Today I scheduled an appointment at the PCP's office (primary care Physician ) and they let me weigh myself while I was there. Today's weight: 229!!!!
  7. 20 lbs gone. DOUBLE what I was able to do with out my sleeve.

Have fun swimming. Sure is hot enough. Once I get cleared I look forward to swimming, or actually water walking. We have an indoor pool across the street from me, but I prefer being outside in the fresh air.

    4th of July Challenge

Well since I weighed in last Thursday, I might as well weigh in today. SW - 225 goal weight: 205. : weigh in #1 - 220 *Yahoo 5 lbs!* Officially DOUBLE what I was able to lose without my sleeve.
  9. . No idea, haven't been tracking that. Probably should start.
  10. Sleveed 5/21 @ 2:30.gained 3 lbs due to fluids/gas, not counting that. lost 13 lbs first week, this week it looks like only 2-3 lbs (17-18 lbs total). Have been struggling to get in both liquids and Protein. been hovering at around 50 grams protein and about 32 oz of liquid. Get to go to puree foods at midnight.

    Vegan post op diet?

While going vegan is not for me, I don't see what the problem is as long as you find ways to get protein in. Personally I love tofu (9 grams of protein for 1/4th the block) and am looking forward to when I can eat it again (2 more days)

    not losing

Your body has to adjust to weight loss, you may not lose much this week but I bet you're losing inches. Take measurements. If it helps any, I too weigh on a daily basis (i know, working on it) - Lost 13 lbs the first week (total of 15) so far it looks like I may lose only 2 lbs this week but my face is thinner and my double chin as all but disappeared, plus my tight shirts are looser.
  13. not sure, only almost 2 weeks out but according to my mom, I've lost weight in my face and I've noticed that my shirts are loser and I can actually fit in my shorts that were a tad too tight - still a bit uncomfortable when sitting but I fit.

    Eggs

I'm looking forward to the pureed stage, mainly for the scrambled eggs (6 Grams protein for one egg!) that and applesauce. only 4 days to go not counting today.

    Never thirsty!

My dad was raised in the south, when I hear tea, I automatically think black tea - iced and sweet. I do know there is other decaffeinated teas though. My Nut/dietician and surgeon work together and both said the same thing but it is a debate out there, every plan is different. I get the majority of my fluids from Water. I count the Protein drink as fluids on the days when I just cant get fluids in.

    Never thirsty!

I guess that it depends on your surgeon, I was told anything without caffeine counted as my fluids. So for me, I can't count tea but my protein drinks count.

    Never thirsty!

Lucky. I can't do purée until June 11th.

    Never thirsty!

Maybe it's psychological because of the liquid diet?
  19. Not with Kaiser, I have BCBS of AZ, and I had my surgery at Tucson Medical Center through Tucson Barriatrics.

    Never thirsty!

Nope, I'm the same way.. I wasn't a big drinker (liquids) before surgery and still I'm not a big drinker. I get between 48-64 oz a day and mainly because I force myself to get the liquid in. My tips: Get it in early. I drink more in the morning then any other time. Break it up by varying the flavor, I go between Protein drink (which counts as liquids AND protein) and water / flavored water. When all else fails, have a Popsicle - sugar free . It counts as 2 oz of liquid.

    Average loss?

not sure what the average is but I lost 13 lbs the first week. (only one week out so more will come off before too long)

    Lactose intolerant

I was lactose sensitive before surgery. Not sure about after but I couldn't do my yogurt I was so excited to finally have this morning.
