I'm so sorry... My post was intended for another thread. I must have accidentally clicked on the wrong one and started typing. Reading your post and then mine you must be thinking.... "Brag much" lol. The 2 don't really relate!
Good luck jade. I feel like my decision to have surgery was a very quick one. A friend of mine had it and 6 weeks later I was having mine. Even the day of I was terrified if I was doing the right thing or if I was going to be able to make the changes. I probably should have had more time to prepare and research. That being said... Now just over 7 weeks out... I don't regret it. I haven't felt this good about myself in sometime! The first few weeks post op were no walk in the park but anything worth having is worth working for. Over all I would say it has been a fairly easy process. Good luck to you! I wish you the best of luck!

Hi! I am 41. Was sleeved on 4-22. My heaviest weight was 282. I was required to do a 3 day pre-op liquid diet so the day of surgery I was 271. My current weight is 226. Down a total of 56lbs. My goal is 180 so another 44 to go. ( I'm really tall!) not too bad for 11 weeks and 2 days post-op.
I went and did some shopping yesterday. I'm in large or size 14 pants and was even able to buy a size medium shirt!!! Woooohooooo!
I'm definitely an everyday weigher. I downloaded the Happy scale app that keeps track of your weight from loss every 7, 30 and 90 days and how much you've lost every month. I highly recommend it. I lost a total of 22lbs in May, 15+ in June and 17+ in July. Loss so far in August has been slow, just over 2lbs.
Good luck to you. It's a struggle at times, especially in the beginning. But you'll be happy you did it when your clothes start falling off!

Yes... Very normal. And you are probably going to regret your decision to have the surgery before you start feeling better. The first month was horrible for me but once you get through it... And you will... You'll be fine. Good things are ahead for you. Good luck!!!

Flat soda... Ugh! I'm not sure I could stomach that either. It's not even like I want it all the time. It would just be nice to have one every once in awhile. Just when I can't find that something that is satisfying. I don't regret my surgery. The weight loss has been incredible! In 9 weeks I've gone from a size 20 easy to a comfortable 16 and into some 14's. I know over time my body will adjust to the sleeve and it won't feel so weird every time I put something in my mouth. I just never realized that it is almost impossible to find a restaurant that doesn't serve something that comes on bread!!! Lol.
I'd totally be ok with Sprite Zero!!!

Hi there, I am 9 weeks and 1 day post op. Down 51lbs, halfway to goal and struggling. Nothing tastes good or even sounds good. I remember when I was fat thinking I wished food would taste like crap so I wouldn't want it. Now I just wish something tasted good! I will often just not eat cause it isn't worth struggling to find something I can stomach. I can't even get any flavor with what I drink. I am missing diet Mountain Dew so bad. I was never a coffee drinker and that was my morning kick. I would only have 1 a day. I know they say no carbonation again EVER... Really?!? Is anyone drinking soda in moderation? Anyone having the same struggles as me?

Sleeved 5-22.. Down 31 since surgery 42 including pre-op diet. I feel good! No complications and I can still chug Water with the best of them. eating such small amounts still and don't have much variety in my diet which I'm sure will get boring as time goes on but for now the weight is falling off so it keeps me motivated. Sorry to those of you struggling. I don't think it's normal to be vomiting at this stage of the game. That is the first thing my dr asks me and told me to let him know if I do. You might want to check with him/her. Good luck. Sounds like we are all fading away (in a good way). :-)

Surgery date was May 22nd and had my 2nd post op visit today... Down 37.5lbs (spent 2 1/2 weeks in a stall only losing 3lbs). Out of plus size clothes and back in a comfortable 16. So awesome to think I can shop right off the rack at any normal store. Congrats to you all!!! Great work!!!

I had my surgery may 22 so I am 4 weeks and 2 days out. I hit my first stall at 1 week and 2 days out. I didn't think I was ever gonna start losing again! I was 22 lbs down going into the stall that lasted 2 weeks and 2 days. Since this past Monday ( when I officially starting losing again) I am down 4lbs. I am .2lbs shy of 30lbs total! Not too shabby for 30 days work...
    Good luck to you!!!

Believe me... It's worth it. I experience no complications like you, so I can't relate to you in that way BUT everyone can understand what emotional pull this causes and unfortunately that doesn't change much... Because u will have your good moments and your bad. I'm almost 6 months post op and I'm down 60 lbs exactly. You must learn to be patient as you will experience moments like " I've gained 2 lbs?! HOW?! Or " this isn't working! Everyone is loosing faster than me!! I went through ALL THIS and it's not working." But then next week u will lose 10 lbs like that. So yes, it does work. It would be impossible for it not to work.. Just physically impossible.
Keep your head up. The beginning sucks so much... And we should all expect the worst going through this. Not once should we ever think this would be a pain free experience. Bc honestly, you get what you want with hard work. The people u read out there saying " I had no pain and no side effects I'm perfect blah blah shit" are lying.
But, there is a bright side. As for me, the only thing I can't tolerate is TOO MUCH sweets and milk. I can still eat whatever I want and still lose the weight. Yes I'm sure if I worked out everyday and ate perfect I would probably be down way more than just 60 lbs... But no one is perfect and we will screw up. I still love food and I know that won't change. I'm so happy with 60 lbs even if I don't lose anymore bc I know I wouldn't have done it by myself. Like come on... If we could we would not have done this surgery. I feel amazing and that's all I wanted. Was so just feel good... And I can honestly say I do.
Good luck, and stay positive my friend.

I'm just hoping I can get in the gym this week and exercise for more time. I've just gotten worn out so quickly every time I've been

It gets better... I almost walked out of the hospital the morning of my surgery... I was so scared and unsure. I had the sleeve done on 8/19/13, I'm about 9 mths post- op. I've lost a total of 90 lbs since my journey began at 289. I had several moments of mental breakdowns- "what have I done", I shouldn't have done this, and on and on. The first few weeks are the hardest. I cried a lot and second guessed myself. You just want to chew something, eat something and taste something. I'll be honest I did not drink the Protein Drinks because I couldn't get them down. I drank a lot of skim milk for Protein and a different taste. Use resources to help for recipes and try different drinks Bariactricfoodie.com is a great site with tons of recipes. I promise you it gets better, as you reach each stage puréed, soft foods and than onward you'll feel better. Every time you get weighed and see the pounds melting off you'll feel better, everytime a pair of pants fall down when they just fit a week ago you'll feel better. People will start complementing you on how good you look ( if they haven't already) you'll feel better.
It is truly a new way of life... A better healthier life
It's not always easy, I'm surrounded by junk foods all the time.. I want to eat a big piece of chocolate cake but than I remember how yucky my sleeve will make me feel if I do and it's not worth it.
You'll get there.. Stay strong think positive and each day is a new day

I am in the middle of my two week preop liquid diet. My surgeon and his nurse said that the diet had two purposes. The first being shrinking the liver and making it more pliable to reduce possible complication during surgery. The second was mental. He said the reason he did the diet for two weeks for all patient was to get them in the proper head space as they are going to have to be without solid food several weeks following surgery. I am currently using Lean whey Protein isolate from Complete Nutrition - chocolate Peanute Butter. It is quite tasty. They also have a Cookies and cream one that is tasty too. It has 24g protein and only 3g carbs and 1g fat. ) I hope this helps. Good luck with your surgery!!
