  1. Hi there! I have been approved for surgery and am scheduled for next Thursday the 22nd. I have to start my 3 day liquid pre- op diet on Monday. It looks like most people have to do it for 2 weeks. Anyone have my same situation and know why there is such a difference in the length of time?
  2. I am so discouraged. Surgery date 5-22. Started at 282 and currently at 214.2. Yes I know in down 67.8 and don't get me wrong I am ecstatic about it... but I appear to have just quit losing. I have been battling the same 6 lbs for almost a month now and have only lost 1 lb so far this month. I know stalls are normal but this feels different. I'm down, then up, then down, then up 2 or more days in a row. I'm eating good, active. I have 35 or so pounds to go... Please don't tell me this is it for me...

    May Sleever Roll Call

I was sleeved 5/22. Down just over 65lbs. 35lbs more to go to hit goal! I feel great! My weight loss has slowed which is frustrating. I'm down, then up a little, then down again, then up again. I weigh everyday. I'm surprised by how little food you can consume and still function normally. I have no appetite or stomach for the foods I used to eat which can make going out to dinner difficult. I've learned to live off eggs, chicken and seafood. I have no room anymore for Breads, pastas, etc... I miss them but hate how they make me feel if I eat them. Congrats to you all!!!
  4. Hi! I am 41. Was sleeved on 4-22. My heaviest weight was 282. I was required to do a 3 day pre-op liquid diet so the day of surgery I was 271. My current weight is 226. Down a total of 56lbs. My goal is 180 so another 44 to go. ( I'm really tall!) not too bad for 11 weeks and 2 days post-op. I went and did some shopping yesterday. I'm in large or size 14 pants and was even able to buy a size medium shirt!!! Woooohooooo! I'm definitely an everyday weigher. I downloaded the Happy scale app that keeps track of your weight from loss every 7, 30 and 90 days and how much you've lost every month. I highly recommend it. I lost a total of 22lbs in May, 15+ in June and 17+ in July. Loss so far in August has been slow, just over 2lbs. Good luck to you. It's a struggle at times, especially in the beginning. But you'll be happy you did it when your clothes start falling off!
  5. Hi there, I am 9 weeks and 1 day post op. Down 51lbs, halfway to goal and struggling. Nothing tastes good or even sounds good. I remember when I was fat thinking I wished food would taste like crap so I wouldn't want it. Now I just wish something tasted good! I will often just not eat cause it isn't worth struggling to find something I can stomach. I can't even get any flavor with what I drink. I am missing diet Mountain Dew so bad. I was never a coffee drinker and that was my morning kick. I would only have 1 a day. I know they say no carbonation again EVER... Really?!? Is anyone drinking soda in moderation? Anyone having the same struggles as me?

    Day 2 post op

Yes... Very normal. And you are probably going to regret your decision to have the surgery before you start feeling better. The first month was horrible for me but once you get through it... And you will... You'll be fine. Good things are ahead for you. Good luck!!!

    Help

Just had the sleeve procedure on May 22. I have always suffered from horrible colds and drainage and I have a horrible gag reflex. However I have had 2 head colds since my surgery and on the backside of it I get horrible post nasal drip that I can't seem to dry up. It is causing me to gag and throw up. I'm wondering if this is because my stomach is smaller and I can't stomach the drainage? I am throwing up mucus everywhere... At home, in the car while driving, etc.... I'm afraid to go anywhere for fear that it will happen because it can't stop it. Please help. Is or has anyone ever experienced this? I don't know where to turn.

    Missing....

Flat soda... Ugh! I'm not sure I could stomach that either. It's not even like I want it all the time. It would just be nice to have one every once in awhile. Just when I can't find that something that is satisfying. I don't regret my surgery. The weight loss has been incredible! In 9 weeks I've gone from a size 20 easy to a comfortable 16 and into some 14's. I know over time my body will adjust to the sleeve and it won't feel so weird every time I put something in my mouth. I just never realized that it is almost impossible to find a restaurant that doesn't serve something that comes on bread!!! Lol. I'd totally be ok with Sprite Zero!!!

    Missing....

Diet Mountain Dew has no calories and that is what I drank... And I don't like coffee
  10. I'm so sorry... My post was intended for another thread. I must have accidentally clicked on the wrong one and started typing. Reading your post and then mine you must be thinking.... "Brag much" lol. The 2 don't really relate! Good luck jade. I feel like my decision to have surgery was a very quick one. A friend of mine had it and 6 weeks later I was having mine. Even the day of I was terrified if I was doing the right thing or if I was going to be able to make the changes. I probably should have had more time to prepare and research. That being said... Now just over 7 weeks out... I don't regret it. I haven't felt this good about myself in sometime! The first few weeks post op were no walk in the park but anything worth having is worth working for. Over all I would say it has been a fairly easy process. Good luck to you! I wish you the best of luck!

    Day 14

I Am 3 weeks and 1 day out from my VSG procedure. I am on day 14 of a weight loss stall. Omg, this could not be more frustrating! I have seriously only lost 2.8lbs in the month of June eating only tiny bits of food. Ive heard it is common to have stalls to allow your body to catch up with the weight loss, but how long do they last?? I'm beginning to think I am quite possibly the only person who can fail at this!!!
  12. Sleeved 5-22.. Down 31 since surgery 42 including pre-op diet. I feel good! No complications and I can still chug water with the best of them. eating such small amounts still and don't have much variety in my diet which I'm sure will get boring as time goes on but for now the weight is falling off so it keeps me motivated. Sorry to those of you struggling. I don't think it's normal to be vomiting at this stage of the game. That is the first thing my dr asks me and told me to let him know if I do. You might want to check with him/her. Good luck. Sounds like we are all fading away (in a good way). :-)

    May Sleever Roll Call

Surgery date was May 22nd and had my 2nd post op visit today... Down 37.5lbs (spent 2 1/2 weeks in a stall only losing 3lbs). Out of plus size clothes and back in a comfortable 16. So awesome to think I can shop right off the rack at any normal store. Congrats to you all!!! Great work!!!

    12lbs in 5days

I had my surgery may 22 so I am 4 weeks and 2 days out. I hit my first stall at 1 week and 2 days out. I didn't think I was ever gonna start losing again! I was 22 lbs down going into the stall that lasted 2 weeks and 2 days. Since this past Monday ( when I officially starting losing again) I am down 4lbs. I am .2lbs shy of 30lbs total! Not too shabby for 30 days work... Good luck to you!!!
  17. My doc said no beer... Nothing that pops when opening (soda, beer, etc...) but I see that people are drinking it. Anyone know why this is?
  18. my dr told me to listen to my body and it would tell me if it didn't like something. I had my first glass of wine last Sat at 3 weeks 2 days post op. I sipped on it during the course of dinner. I had a little left when we left the restaurant. I had no problems and I didn't feel any different but I was also a drinker before surgery. So Not sure if that is why it didn't have much effect. I'm just glad I'm feeling normal again. 30lbs down and 4 weeks post op tomorrow.
  19. I'm 11 days post op and starting to feel normal again (thank god!!!) I'm anxiously waiting for Wednesday when I can start including eggs, fish and canned veggies to my diet. I can actually cook a meal! I'm a little frustrated cause I feel like I'm not taking in enough food to maintain my energy but for the last 2 days I haven't lost any weight.. In fact I gained .5. Here is what I had yesterday. Protein shake for Breakfast that had a low fat yogurt, a banana and 3 strawberries cottage cheese around 1230 3/4 a sugar free pudding around 4 Slice of reduced fat American cheese and cottage cheese around 530. I drank plenty of fluids. If I'm not losing with only that going in what is gonna happen when I start eating normal food? Oh and when can I have salad?
  20. I'm looking at everyone's before and after pics and how great everyone looks. I'm scared I'm never gonna get there. Is it possible that you won't lose weight after surgery? I'm 12 days post op and in a stall... At least I hope it's a stall.

    early plateau normal?

I am 11 days post op as well and I just posted a thread regarding the same exact thing. I've haven't lost since Friday. I'm down 23 and on Saturday I was actually up .5lbs. I'm with ya. At this point we have hardly any good going in, how can we not be losing???
  23. I am 4 days post op from my sleeve surgery this past Thursday and my feelings are mixed. I feel like the whole process happened so fast. One minute I was still waiting for insurance approval and the next my surgery was scheduled for the following week. Not sure I really had time to digest what I was in store for. I spent the 6 weeks prior so focused on getting approved and then only had a week to prepare. Surgery day still feels surreal and then the day and a half in the hospital trying to recover was horrible. I had complications with the morphine and was throwing up and couldn't keep anything down. When they finally released me, I went home to an emotional roller coaster of depression and uncertainty. I wasn't sure if I was ever going to feel normal again, I thought I had ruined my life. The hunger (empty) pains I feel are horrible and nagging and Im not sure how to fill the void with fluids. Protein shakes make me nauseated and I can't stomach them yet. I'm 16.2lbs down from the beginning of my 3 day pre op diet (which started last Monday) and 6lbs down since my actual surgery date. On the positive... The weight loss is awesome!!! Everyday gets better and soon I will be back to feeling great... Right? Any words of wisdom and advice would be greatly appreciated. It's a day at a time, I know but sometimes getting to the next hour is hard...

    Holy sleeve!

Thank you ashlynn7410. All I hear is how everyone is dieting this way and dieting that way. If dieting didn't work for us before then how can you expect us to diet the rest of our lives?!?! Isn't that the point? I want to live within my means. Enjoy life, friends and food the way everyone else does. I don't want to live on a diet for the rest if my life. I'm really struggling with hunger right now. I can not wait to be able to add something of substance... Ugh!

    Holy sleeve!

2 of my incisions are still really sore so I'm not sure I'm ready to exercise. Plus I'm still concerned I'm going to get dehydrated because I'm not drinking enough. If I exercise that will make it worse. My post op dr visit is Wednesday so hopefully he can shed a little light for me and give me the ok to add some food to my diet. I bought a nutribullet yesterday to help me with the protein problem. I can't stomach the pre made drinks that are milk based so I figured week 2 I'm allowed yogurt so I will get some protein powder... Mix with yogurt and ice and I'll be able to stomach that better. I didn't realize what true hunger was until now. I feel like my insides are eating itself.
