    I have a question that may get me in trouble. Does anyone else find it incredibly irritating that people that only need to lose 40 or 50 pounds are having this procedure? I mean, I wish I only had 40 pounds to lose and I don't think I would consider surgery if I did. I would try something else, first. Just my opinion and I mean no disrespect to anyone.

    5'9, sleeved 19 days ago and I'd say my goal size is 10/12, but really I think I would be happy to be able to shop somewhere besides the plus section.

    I can wear my wedding set again!! 26 days after surgery I'm finally able to wear both my rings without feeling like my finger is suffocating! This was the first NSV I set for myself and I'm so happy I reached it so fast. Down 28 lbs since pre op started Sept 1st.

    I am so happy I started drinking Syntrax! After surgery the ready made, thick sweet drinks made me sick.

    Hi Laura, for myself, pre surgery I drank Atkins advantage pre-made shakes. After surgery I couldn't stomach them at all, now I use syntax nectar and love it. My favorite flavors are grape and lemonade. It's great Protein, not thick at all, and I drink it with Water. My doctor didn't want a specific brand, just nothing with a lot if sugar like slim fast.

    Hey all- Dooter here. I haven't been on here in a while, but this thought has been plaguing me, and I need to get it out. -Let me preface this discussion by saying I am GLAD I had the sleeve surgery, and I would not change it for the world. I had NO complications and I lost 102 pounds in eight months, and for that I am grateful. I needed to do that quickly for my own sanity and health. HOWEVER- that said-
    DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT think for one teeny tiny minute that having surgery and dumping a bunch of weight is going to fix your head and the behavior that got you here. Not gonna happen. During the "honeymoon" period where you can sneeze off five pounds at a time and you're never hungry after your teaspoon of food, you can't imagine EVER returning to old feelings and desires. I am here to tell you that it sneaks back in a little at a time. A taste here, a taste there... "oh look. I've gained a pound. well, that was salty food, I'll just drink more Water tomorrow." HORSE HOCKEY!!!! That's where it starts. Your old head trips creep in. Hiding food. Eating junk now, figuring you'll just shape up "next week" or "tomorrow." Tomorrow never happens and you've gained 30 pounds back. Yes. With your itty bitty stomach, you have gained 30 pounds back. It can happen. Or worse, you gain it all back. That can happen too.
    The reason I am writing this and being to harsh about it is that you are a person who is considering, or who has gone through a MAJOR life changing surgery. SO CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!! Be vigilant. come out of that honeymoon with your armor on! You WILL stop losing at one point and your body will begin to fight you as mine has. The diet my surgeon gave me no longer works at this point in the game, as my metabolism is stuck in cold molasses and it has taken a personal trainer/dietitian to get it moving again, and it is majorly hard work and painful and distasteful at times, but I have another 100 lbs to lose AFTER the 30 lb regain is gone.
    Have somebody close to you hold you accountable for exercising and eating right. Splatter it all over Facebook if you have to (I did) so you'll have MANY people holding you accountable! Do what you have to do to reach your goal. Don't settle for less and don't eat crap. And don't think that surgery is the final solution. It's a tool that will get you halfway there. The rest is up to YOU and no one else. Thank you. That is all.

    beth_d got a reaction from dropdeadweightdiva in First meal after surgery, wow it really works!
    I just ate my first real meal after surgery, baked fish, green Beans and couscous. I couldn't even get through half the first film before I was full. Obviously I knew that this is exactly what the surgery was supposed to do, but there honestly was a part of me that thought I wouldn't feel the restriction. I'm so happy! ????

    I'm on day 5 of my 14-day pre-op diet. My surgeon/nutritionist is pretty much: 3 Protein shakes per day plus any non-caffeinated non-sugar liquids, including broth, Decaf coffee, mio Water enhancers, Jello, etc. Basically no solids, though Jello and non-fat low-carb greek yogurt are okay.
    Protein drinks
    ===========
    I make my own Protein Shakes using:
    1 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1/2 to 1 scoop Protein Powder (vanilla or chocolate)
    1/4 cup non-fat unflavored greek yogurt
    1 Tbs sugar free Torani Syrup (I have like 15 flavors now...S'Mores, Cookies 'n Cream, Butterscotch, Peach, etc.)
    I have one of those blender bottles. Saves a fortune in Protein Drinks making them myself.
    Broths/Soups
    ===========
    I'm being creative with broths and adding different spices to different meals and some egg whites to Protein the broth up a bit. So adding a bit of low sodium soy sauce + ginger + white pepper for asian-inspired or garlic powder + cumin + cilantro + onion powder + chili powder for mexican-inspired. Just to change things up a bit.
    Popsicles!
    =========
    I'm also stocked up on boxes of sugar free popsicles which help with the 'solid food' cravings.
    Jello
    ====
    Ah, we all hate jello. I mix some sugar free flavors and whip in some vanilla Protein Powder to add some protein. I'll be doing more of that post-surgery when I get to that eating phase. Jello also helps with the "solid food" cravings.
    Hope that helps

    I finished all of my pre op testing etc on 6/30, and I told myself I would wait at least a week before calling my doctor to check on the status, but I'm having such a hard time waiting! I'm so nervous something will go wrong or be wrong and I won't be able to have the surgery. Hopefully this holiday weekend will help distract me!

    WARNING: RANT AHEAD
    I hate to be a complainer, but I am so frustrated with my hospital and getting these pretests scheduled. They only do the testing on a Monday and all at one time. That's great, however Monday just happens to be my busiest day at work. No bother I can work around one Monday. I had my testing scheduled for this past Monday, the 16th. I received a call last Wednesday (the 11th) that one of the doctors wouldn't be available and now I need to reschedule the whole kit and caboddle. So now the tests are scheduled for the 23rd. Don't you know I get a call yesterday that the same doctor won't be available again and I will need to reschedule. Now I can do all of the testing but that one (the psych evaluation) as scheduled and just do the psych evaluation another day. But once again, only on a Monday. So basically no other doctor can do this and it can't be done on any day but Monday morning. At what point should they start working around my schedule???
    Rant ended.
    Tl;dr: pretests keep getting rescheduled and it's frustrating.
    I'm getting so anxious as my surgery approaches that something will happen and I won't be able to get it. I just want my approval and surgery date so I can get this train moving!
