    August 26 Sleevers

I've gotten several sugar free syrups and flavoring and have been adding them to my yogurt (chocolate, caramel, strawberry, cocoa powder, and a blueberry spread that is kinda like a jelly). I also add 1tsp of splenda. If it seems too thick I thin it with soy milk. I've also been making some to freeze... yum. I nuke it for 10 seconds, then eat. As to getting my liquid in... I sip on a bottle of Water constantly. Just little tiny sips. I'm also drinking those Pure Protein drinks from Costco/Sams (the ones in the red and white boxes). I just sip on these too. For right now I'm not watching the clock too much, just focusing on getting them down. I only delay my water/shakes if I've had yogurt or Soup, as I want to be sure I don't wash away my only real food.

I've had the cold feeling too. I went shopping for a smaller-size light jacket last night. I'm not sure if this is a short term or long term thing. I had no-fat yogurt as an option on my full liquid diet, do you?

Had my 1 week post op this morning. I got the go ahead to move to puree. I can't wait... I'm feeling like my clothes are different, but I haven't lost that much in pounds. I did just started my chewable vitamins... ugh, my stomach is not a fan. At all. Is anyone else having issues with their vitamins? I'm using Celebrate, orange. Any tips? Ugh.

There is actually a whole thread of made up of people from Auf 26. I've been watching/commenting on both. It is nice to see all the sharing and support, love that I found this forum site.

So sorry you were sad! HUGS!!! I'm sure we are ALL going to go through this - more than once. I went to a specialty store today and found myself buying several protein bars to try. Got home and realized I'm not allowed to have them for about 4 more weeks. I was kinda sad. I put them in a bag and added them to my "future foods" stash.

I am at 4 days post-surgery and just saw the scale dip below my pre-surgery weight! I'm so excited! I can't believe how fast these 4 days have gone. I got very lucky and had my wonderful SIL want to come for a visit on Thursday, so we've been out gallivanting, and she's been playing with my kids when they get home from school (so they aren't climbing on my sore belly or lap). She also made dinner for everyone last night, including Soup for me! Wow, I'm totally feeling blessed. She is going back home on Sunday, and I'm so dreading that... I need to convince her to stay! About the recovery.... I have LOTS of gas - it seems like my tummy fills with gas/air after every sip - I have little mini-burps with every effort to drink. It can be painful too - about every 8th swallow I get a big bubble and I have to stop for a while. I'm not pushing myself though, but I'm surprised at all the gas. Anyone else dealing with this? Yesterday I had a "WTF did I do?!?!?" breakdown. It occurred to me that I'd changed everything about the rest of my life, whether I end up liking it or not. It was very scary, to say the least. I sorta terrified myself, and I'm grieving a bit for the foods I can't eat right now. As to what I'm eating - mostly I'm having Premier Protein shakes (bought at Sam's), homemade chicken soup (strained), and whatever Water I can get down. I'm being sure to log the amt of protein I'm getting AND the amount of liquids. I've got my protein up to 60, but I'm lagging on the amt of liquids. I started my day off with water today, so maybe that will help. I'm cold... is anyone else cold?? I'm done rambling! I've loved watching all of your statuses come over - it's been fun to read and nod, since I'm experiencing the same stuff as you guys. I don't feel so alone.

Everyone talks about the 3 wk stall. That may be all it is. Supposedly your body needs to rest from losing and it puts on the brakes somehow. I'm betting you'll see more come off next week, and other people have said they feel their clothes change greatly during the week where they stall. I've seen people suggest that upping proteins, but you are already exceeding in that area... hopefully the stall is all it is!

I just found out what too full feels like. Ouch. I had a 1/2 cup (4 oz) of pudding thinned with 1 oz protein drink. Gets in 6 grams of protein. Also is too much for me right now. Ugh. Eyes are watering.

I'm back home - I met all the milestones today, and they let me go early. I got home around 4:30 (normally you stay until around 8). I took at long nap, but now I'm up walking, just took my pain meds... It's been hrs since I had any meds and things were a bit sore on the inside. I'm kinda dreading "eating" my liquids right now without pain meds - not sure what that's going to be like. My incisions don't seem to be bothering me much yet. Tomorrow is the super-soft food diet. I can't wait for some pudding or yogurt. Mmmmmm. Hope everyone is doing good! Would love to hear from you guys!

I took my Gasx in and my Dr added it to my chart to be given per box instructings. It helped loads, and I didn't have to sneak.

Amen on the ice chips! My hospital's medical software crashed last night, so my nurse was being late on meds because they had to do all paper charting. It was a little scary that stuff wasn't written down/passed off right between nurses at shift change last night. I almost got a double-dose of heparin within 2 hrs. My friend caught the error, so it worked out... I'm guessing it wouldn't have hurt me much, but it was different.

I'm in my hospital room, post surgery. My good friend is staying the night with me while my hubby is home with our kids for the evening. I seem to be doing ok, pain is managed mostly, been walking some. The Dr found A hiatal hernia, his depiction was a 3-ish Inch diameter hole. I had no idea that was there! It got fixed, but it seems to be hurting a bit. I'm not having to rough a time, but I'm finding the night nurse is not my faxv ever... I'm sure it will be ok though. It's just taking forever to get meds, etc. I seem to be doing ok, and the gas ex has been helping quite a bit. I'm a bit fuzzy headed, and fighting off constantly sleeping from the morphine. Hope all of you are doing well!

Is everyone ready?? Tomorrow is the Surgery Eve for many of us! OMG OMG! I finished my 2-wk pre-op diet today. So I went out to the store and got all kinds of sugar-free things I am allowed on my 1-day pre-op clear liquids and the several days post-op. I ordered some unjury today, it should be here about the time I start needing it. Hubby and I went out for a date night tonight -- went to the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern. LOVE That place! I thought it would be hard, since I'm not eating, but it wasn't bad at all. I brought in my Mio flavoring to add to my Water, and I drank 3 glasses while I was laughing my butt off at the great performance. I have an NSV already - I had 3 people compliment me on my beautiful new red dress, and it felt like heaven. I'm so used to being ignored, and wow, that felt so good... I have to work in the morning (I had scheduled to be off), but after that little chore is done I'm going to spend the day straightening up the house and making ready for post-surgery. I need to still drop off the script for my post-op pain meds, and I'd like to have time to go get my post-op Vitamins. I'm a little bit freaked, but mostly trying not to think about it. Hope all of you are doing great, packing your bags for the hospital, and getting yourselves siked up for the next chapter in your lives!!!

I noticed this morning that I stopped loosing weight (2 days, no change) on the pre-op diet. The only thing I changed was that I went for "broth" out to a restaurant 2 times. I couldn't stay home anymore - I was getting stir crazy, so I went and had French Onion Soup (no bread, no cheese) at Jason's Deli with my family, and I went to a local restaurant and had their chicken noodle soup (asked that they avoid the chicken and the noodles, then I didn't eat what ended up in the bowl). I didn't think it would hurt, but seems that it did make a dent in my diet. I'm guessing part of it is all the added salt. Man, that was a LOT of salt. In also checked my pre-op diet instructions again - I went over my 2wk diet with the nutritionist (and made written notes) and she said to use soy/almond milk that was less than 100 cal. Well... I re-read this morning to see if I was doing something wrong, and found that they want you to do only UNSWEETENED soy milk or 1% regular milk. OMG that is so not what I bought. I feel like an idiot - I managed to NOT do the 2 wk diet I thought I was doing. I guess I shouldn't complain though - I did loose some inches (not sure how that worked), I didn't feel like I was starving to death, and I'm quite a bit smaller around my mid-section, but the scale hasn't moved very much. I'm going to modify my milk today, and I'm on Clear liquids tomorrow, so it is what it is. Water under the bridge... I'm off to the store now to buy some unsweetened soy or almond milk... sigh.

Hello all! I'm a bit late checking in! My VSG is just 2 days away on 8/26!!! I'm like everyone else here, and I really appreciate that someone started a thread just for people on this date (or nearby)... I'm nervous and really looking forward to getting this done too. I have been doing OK on my pre-op Meal Replacement diet. I've had a little bit of head hunger, but it's not so bad. Pretty much I just have to go have another shake, or some broth, and I get through it. I can't believe it is only 2 days away! I'm looking through posts re: the recommended "foods" for the clear liquid post-op 1st week. I've watched a number of videos of VSG'ers on Youtube and I'm sure I've seen lots about what to consume during these days, but now that I'm here I'm a little stir crazy and can't seem to get my mind wrapped around preparing the groceries I'll need.

I have been doing OK on my pre-op meal replacement diet. I've had a little bit of head hunger, but it's not so bad. Pretty much I just have to go have another shake, or some broth, and I get through it. I've lost roughly 7 lbs on the pre-op diet, but frankly, I thought I would have lost more. I'm not knocking it, I'm just a tad bit concerned I didn't do something right. I'm wondering if I'll find out later that I was supposed to be eating more, or something crazy like that. Anyway, I'm here.. I'll soon be on the other side of the VSG and I am excited.
