  1. I had wls on 5/5/14 and had hit a wall so to speak 2 times. I followed the advice given here. I stopped weighing myself every day (obsessing), and also to increase my protein intake. I added one egg per day to my usual 2 per day and also added 4oz of Premeire Protein shakes that I purchased from Costco. My daughter suggested taking the chocolate flavor shake, pour 2oz into blender, add ice and 1/2 teaspoon of low sugar peanut butter(smooth). Whirl this in the blender until smooth. This tastes amazingly like aReeses Peanut Butter Cup. Because it makes more than 3 oz, I freeze the left over and it makes a great protein snack. Yum. And....I broke thru that wall and began to lose again. For myself, adding the protein tricks my body into letting go of the weight. If my body thinks I'm starving it.....it will hang onto every oz. Good luck and don't give up. It's all a part of the marathon.

    more restriction?

I would call your surgeon. I remember pre op instructions that mention scar tissue developing in the esophagus after surgery that will cause symptoms similar to what you describe. The treatment according to my doctor, they sedate you and with a scope they go down into your esophagus and stretch the area that has narrowed. I haven't had this done but you should call your surgeon. Good luck

PO VSG w/ lupus & diabetes

Hi there. I had VSG on 5/5/14 and I also suffer with Lupus. I'm on plaquinel, methotrexate and Immuran and really am struggling with extreme fatigue and weakness. The weakness has been horrible since VSG. I'm having so much nausea that I'm having a hard time getting all my protein and water in. I hope that you and I can be support to each other as we struggle with different problems then the average people on this website. Let me know how I can support you.
  4. I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I don't have MS, but was diagnosed with Sle, better known as Lupus. I had VSG on 5/5/14 and I am down 40lbs but I do have to take meds because of the Lupus. The reason I chose VSG was because I knew I would be on meds. I have extreme fatigue along with kidney involvement. Anything I can do to support you, I'm here.

    Labs 3 years out

Good morning is not how I'm feeling. Today is 8 weeks post vsg. I feel like I'm going downhill. I'm down almost 40 lbs which is great but I can't seem to keep anything down. I did better 2 weeks ago. Food stayed put and the variety was good. Slowly over the last ten days I've become so so weak. Over the weekend I started having trouble even keeping thick liquid down and I'm nauseous all the time. Even liquid is a fight. It feels like it gets stuck and then I throw it up. I feel like I'm losing to fast. I can't even handle getting my own food bcause I'm weak and the smell of any food causes nausea. Anyone else have this and what did u do.
  6. I'm also a 5/5r. I'm down 20.4 pounds. Yay. My biggest struggle is this week. I moved to full liquid, mashed potato, hard boiled smashed eggs etc. I'm so weak. My breath is horrible and everything tastes strange. I finally had 3oz of Atkins protein shake and I actually feel alittle better. I had my first emotional buyers remorse last night. I went shopping for some more variety and I felt faint and miserable. I watched someone in the parking lot enjoying a piece of pizza and I just started crying. I wanted to eat normally and feel strong again. My doctor, Dr.Higa, Fresno,Ca...runs a very strict and precise schedule. I'm sticking to it but it's hard. My husband mentioned that I may need to hit a post op support grp meeting.....I think he is right. I'm just so tired and run down. I Am getting my liquids in.....easy because I'm so thirsty. Has anyone else had the bad breath, nasty taste.

I felt like I made a huge mistake with this surgery and just really wanted regular food and to feel stronger. Going to the grocery store completely wiped me out.since May 5th surgery, I'm down 20lbs. Any advice

Going out to eat for the first time..

Thanks for the support. No my doctor didn't prescribe muscle relaxers. Sounds like that would really help. Have you weighed yourself yet.

Going out to eat for the first time..

I have a question....I'm day 6 post op and I have lost 12.2 pounds. I'm still very swollen and still have to take a pain pill every 4 hours. I feel like allot of the pain is in my hips also my upper belly directly under my breasts, can't stand a bra at this point. Dr did a hiatal hernia repair also. Does it sound like I'm on track. I'm still anxious also. Any suggestions?

May 5th.. Any surgery twins? Some concerns

I'm sorry you are suffering from the headaches also. I never drank any diet drinks because the artificial sweetener caused migraines and I stopped drinking caffeine a few weeks before surgery as per doctor. I'm glad I did. I think my headaches are because the sweeteners in the popsicles, sugar free jello etc.

May 5th.. Any surgery twins? Some concerns

Actually yesterday was my first hunger pain. I have been eating SUGAR FREE jello...lol, strained Lipton noodle soup, popsicles, ice chips and I added unflavored pedialyte at the suggestion of the nurse. She thought that may help the headache. Funny thing I had a dream that I was so hungry I grabbed some broiled chicken breast and chewed it and spit it out. I was wondering, how are you handling mothers day. I haven't told my family about the surgery because they would not be supportive. Our tradition is going out for lunch. I said I would go and just order broth but honestly I don't feel up to going. I'm too afraid to leave home at this point and I don't think I can mask the pain yet.
