Miralax! I was told to start with 1-3 doses a day to get things started. Then to cut back to a maintenance dose. At 4 months out, I now take 1 dose every other day.

I had long hair and wore it in a ponytail most days. I realized that all the tangles and the ponytail were making my Hair loss really bad. I had my hair cut three weeks ago to a much shorter style. While I'm still losing hair, I'm not losing as much. I'm not pulling it back with clips and ponytail holders and it doesn't need brushing as often, all things that were contributing to the loss

Don't be surprised if you have shoulder pain. I was having severe pain in my right shoulder from the gas. A heating pad helps tremendously!

I was told to start taking Miralax one to three times a day starting on day 3 post-op. At Four months out I now take a dose every other day and have no problems with Constipation. Because we eat so much less than before, you will find that you will not go as much. My surgeon wants his patients to go every day or two.

I have, not a complication, but a word of warning. I spent Sunday evening in the ER with severe lower abdominal pain. I was also passing bright red blood in my urine. I have very severe cystitis. I had none of the classic symptoms, due to, I believe, the large amount of Water I drink post - op. So, be aware that the symptoms of an illness post - op may not be the same as pre-op!

Premier Protein bars. Both the 30 and 15 grams of Protein. I can only get 3 of the flavors where I live.

I cut my hair two weeks ago. That combined with the weight loss keeps people I've known for years to walk past without recognizing me. Including my husband last weekend!

I have Aetna and managed to get approval first time out. To lose my weight, I used a modified version of my pre-op diet (protein shakes (4 a day) and non-starchy veggies). I added limited amounts of lean meats and fruit. I also upped my exercise. It wasn't easy. But I lost the weight Aetna wanted and had approval in less than 12 hours.

I am SO glad that I live in a state that doesn't put your weight on your drivers license!

Please add me! My email address is up above. I'm going out of town for the rest of the weekend and there is very poor cell phone signal there so it maybe Monday before I can respond.

I was 248 when I started this journey last May. My surgery was 12/10/14 and I weighed 204. The main thing I get is "we've never had anyone with a BMI of 32 at three months out" and "it's only been three months and you've lost over 50% of your excess weight". I lose a little slower than others, but, I guess that's because I have less to lose.

This past Thursday, I had my 3 month post-op appointment. The clinic is an hour from my house. My son and his fiance live in the next town beyond that. I took lunch to my son and when I walked into the store where he is manager, I noticed a funny look on his face for a few seconds before he said hello. Later, as I was leaving, he confessed that for those first few seconds, he hadn't recognized me! I've never been anything but extremely obese in his lifetime and now I'm not!

I didn't lose as much as you annebqui, but I lost just over 50%of my excess weight! I'm right at 3 months out also. When was your surgery? Mine was 12-10-14.

I ordered mine pre surgery and wore it home from the hospital. However, mine has a plain metal chain. I learned the hard way that the cute beaded bracelets don't hold up when you're in the pool as often as I am.

Check to see if your sugar free products contain sugar alcohols. Those are notorious for causing gas, bloating and diarrhea.

Not worth the added carbs and calories to me. Plus I don't really care for the taste of stevia. I'm a Dannon Light and Fit girl! ????

Sorry, my phone froze up. That should finish as: 30 grams was all the Protein the body can absorb at a time.
-
I was told anything over 30 grams at a time was all the pro body

Constipation hasn't been an issue for me. My patient's handbook said to start Miralax on my third day post-op, so I did. Now, I take it every other day and have no problems.

At my clinic, patients are expected to lose 60% of their excess weight by their six month post-op check up and 80% by their one year check up. I had my three month post-op check up this past Thursday and have lost about 53%. Right now, I'm losing a pound every four days.

Day of Surgery Fear?
in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
I was strangely calm. I slept well the night before, was calm during the hour drive to the hospital. I never even got to sit down in the waiting room before being taken back to pre-op. My husband and I prayed for my surgeon and everyone else who would be involved in the surgery. My surgeon's first words to me were that he'd already been praying for me. I was completely relaxed when I was wheeled to the OR.
