  1. Family days are wonderful. Cleaning out extra stuff takes the clutter off my mind. Feels good after it's done...Right?
  2. Celebrate away! The hike sounds great. Did you get any photos of the hike?
  3. Sounds like you are having a fantastic time with family. Agghh. First Stages of diet on the holidays. Humm egg nog flavored shake? lol Keep pushing through my friend. It may be hell right now. You are going to be amazed at where you are at next christmas. Best gift ever!
  4. You are a brave woman to go out and fight against the black friday shoppers. That qualifies as a workout to me. Nice bargain! I'm sure Mr fluffy appreciates it.
  5. I can't afford plastics. I'm also an old fart (49) and never expected to be a bikini model after surgery. The only people that have to see me naked is me, my hubby and the occasional Dr. Started at 254 I'm 137 this morning. The loose skin I can tuck away with shape wear. A good bra does wonders. Reality the skin on my mid section hangs below the top creases of my legs. Bat wings, My butt and my back, my inner thighs. The only reason you can't see it in the photos is shapewear and clothing to hide it. Weightlifting is filling the skin out a bit. But it will never be gone unless I have plastics. Im three years out. I think I can live with it.
  6. All exciting and positive things that you are noticing. It takes time for your mind to catch up to your body.
  7. I have drove myself crazy watching other people lose faster. Especially years out and the weight loss is now at a snail's pace. I think my metabolism was messed up pre surgery and still is out of whack. If I eat carbs I gain quickly. My husband can maintain easily and eat carbs all day long...ugh! frustrating.
  8. What you do with this twentyfour hours is going to make a difference. This is caring for yourself enough to push through and make changes. Working on your mindset and emotions that may be impacting your weight loss. Getting your workouts in. Are you struggling or enjoying the sweat? Logging food and slowing down to appreciate each bite. Are you considering food prepping on the weekend? Are you celebrating hitting a small or large goal. Get out there and live life with no regret! don't waste this day.
  9. Sorry for the length of this. I'm not going to put you down or preach what you should eat or do - This is some things to try to put you back in weightloss mode. You are not alone. You are over a year out. your weight loss seems a bit different ..right? After a year - You can hold more food volume and the weight loss slows down. (cut carbs they can sabotage your weight loss) Weight loss after a year out is NOT a cookie cutter answer. Dialing in your diet ( finding the calorie and macros) will be trial and error. If going back to basic works for your body then yes do it! - If basics are not working here is an option: TDEE CALCULATOR and MYFITNESSPAL LINK - ( log your food to know if you are hitting your calorie, Protein and carbohydrate goals to dial in your diet) https://tdeecalculator.net/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en TDEE calculator gives you your calories and macros based on your sex, age, weight, height and activity level. fill your information (omit body fat%) Click [calculate] The first number is your maintenance calories (This is not your calories for weight loss.) more steps to follow) Scroll down to macronutrients you will see three tabs. [maintaining] [cutting] [bulking] click [cutting] this is your weight loss calories and macros - Your calories are a 500 deficit from maintaining. you are given three options of carb ratios (low, moderate and high) Start with the low carb macros to see where your body starts losing weight. Side note: My personal experience, Raising my Protein goal and eating raw and steamed veggies with my protein is giving me the sensation of full. The tdee calculator - I adjusted my activity level one setting back from my real activity level - It has kicked me back into weight loss mode. Its been trial and error dialing in my diet. I hope you find what works for you, Jenn
  10. Here is my two cents The goal is healthy, Slow weight loss change is better than no change. There is no short cutting weight loss. It is the work you put into it.... Anyone says surgery is the easy way out can bite me. I do my multi vitamin, calcium, fish oil vit D. I take a pill for my joints--lol I'm older. This is just for health they do nothing for weight loss. I have tried pills and diet fads before surgery. They all promised fast easy weight loss. I was always disappointed.
  11. What motivates me may not motivate you. Here is my motivation goto list. Sometime it's not motivation it's having perspective. When I'm dragging my feet on changing behaviors or exercise. Just remember there is a person in hospice care with months to live that would gladly trade places with us for our weight loss struggles. Change is not easy! If there is no struggle there is no progress. Embrace the struggle embrace your pain. Know you are strong enough to push yourself further. Slow change is better than no change. Only worry about the 24 hours you are given today. What are you going to do for yourself for the 24 hours? Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out. This is a repeat video but its my favorite motivation:

  13. Rice is carbs. Rice also expands in my stomach. I dont tolerate it well. I make a healthy version of a california roll. Crab filling Crab meat. shreded carrot, cucumber seeded and chopped. Olive oil mayo with a bit of rice wine vinager. Cut an avocado in half. Fill the inside with the crab filling. Top with urichin roe
  14. Chewing your food and slowing down when you eat will help you for long term success. It's a part of mindful eating. It will help you recognize when you feel full. If you are eating fast you might not recognise full until it's too late. Yes, you can vomit with the sleeve.
  15. By the way, Wow you have done fantastic at this program. You deserve all the credit for your hard work. The weight loss is fast. It's going to take your mind time to catch up to your physical changes. If you feel a counselor might help you work through this..I say go for it. Yes, I've had the same experience not seeing myself correctly. People that haven't had a drastic drop in weight won't be able to understand how this messes with your mind. I still have the fear of weight gain. I keep it as a reminder to stay on track. The work never stops after goal.
  16. Oh yes, family members. Congrats on 94 down! I will be thinking of you throughout the holidays. Sorry about how your family is superficial about weight. I can relate. My inner fat girl still has a chip on my shoulder about a few specific family members. I used my sister in laws photo for motivation for a month. I placed it on my treadmill. I was not going to give up. You are right, all you can do is say no when people push food in your direction. Sometimes it's out of concern of how little we eat, Other times food is their way to show love (please eat aunt kate's pie or you will hurt her feelings) The worst is when they push food at you in an attempt to sabotage your weight loss. I hope your mom is showing you off because she is proud of you. Keep people in your life that love and support you, You will press through this thanksgiving. Be strong girl!

  18. Everyone has different time constraints. Fantastic that you are getting your workout 2X a day. What are your fitness goals? What types of exercise do you find interesting? Do you need something easy on your joints to begin with? Do you work out at home or a gym? Do you need to buy equipment working out at home? You get to decide how much time you are going to invest in yourself. The weight loss is just a perk of the work you put into this. Here are some links to give your some fitness inspiration: Just google for more! 19. Here is a link answering to the same topic. click below TURKEY VS HUMAN
  20. Congratulations and happy anniversary!
  21. I run the turkey day 5K each year since surgery. It's my new Thanksgiving tradition. The holiday is not all about the food anymore. It's family and friends, being thankful, living life and having new experiences. Not having a food coma every year is an amazing feeling. No weight gain guilt. Food plan: turkey, steamed french green beans with bacon and sliced almonds, roasted pumpkin, cranberries and apple. Desert is dannon light n fit pumpkin pie yogurt with 2 oz vanilla halo top ice cream. I plan ahead at potlucks. I bring deviled eggs or a meat and cheese plate. I make sure there is something I can eat. I pack my meals for work with healthy sweet and salty options.
  22. Seems there will always be debates Machine vs Free weights. Machines work well for isolating muscle. Free weight challenge and activate secondary muscles. I see benefits of using both. Below is an exercise database link. (You can select the muscle groups you wan to work on. It will give you a list and a video example of how to use the machine or perform the exercise) https://www.bodybuilding.com/exercises/
  23. I'm out the door for a mammogram. I will get back to you soon. I want to catch up.
