  1. My immediate family have taken the time to learn with me about what foods needed for bariatrics. The rest of my friends and family try but fail with foods. I'm also a type one diabetic. Sometimes I still see the wrong foods presented for my situation. Part of this is the lack of knowledge on Bariatrics. People still see this as we are dieting or just can only eat a small amount.
  2. @@finediva @RJ'S/beginning @@Queen P @@mykdzmom Thanks! I still have to pinch myself. All of this does not seem real I have never seen anything like the the restroom in this restaurant. Rose quartz walls and high heel shoe art. you have to see this to believe it..lol
  3. So glad that I no longer have to shop lane bryant. So expensive to buy plus sized clothing. I have turned into such a girly girl. Never knew shopping would become so addictive. Nordstrom Rack Loft Pink/Victoria secret Ross's and Burlington coat factory (love a deal)
  4. Happy valentines day~!!!!
  5. @@heav85 My husband told me it feels threatening to have you're partner go though a physical transformation. It does make him insecure and question's if he is enough. i understand and I'm doing what I can to make him feel better about the situation. BUT....It still bothers me that there is so much importance put on you're appearance when you are thin. Is it me or is it insulting that significant other's think now that we are smaller we might have an affair. I guess larger people never have affair's? (WTF) It's only weight loss. I still have the same love for my husband. I'm just in a smaller package.
  6. @@artblitz I get full and satisfied with my sleeve. If I eat to much it let's me know. I have replaced my emotional/stress eating with hitting the gym. I do my best problem solving and stress relief working out. Better than pizza and Cookies could ever do.
  7. @@Bonawanabfree With the confidence boost, attention from the opposite sex and my drive to get out and live life. My husband has had some insecurity along the way. I reassure him all the time that we have a solid relationship. I would take a bullet for him and the attention from the opposite sex is superficial. I have a amazing relationship. I don't take him for granted. I have no need to involve myself with anyone else. I try to get him involved with the things I'm participating in. Races , walking Kayaking etc. We make time to go out on dates. We have gone to Victoria's secret and picked out item's together. *blushing* All of these things has made our relationship even better.
  8. I show my love for friends and family every day. The holiday reminds me never to take people or love for granted. My husbands gift to me. He had my wedding ring set sized down. I can wear them again since my weight loss. We are now making plans to renew our vow's.
  9. 5'5" goal weight is 140. Reached goal and trying to get to my personal goal of 130.
  10. @@AJP1243 This is what I do..I'm no expert. I started by walking for 30 mins a day. I am now doing Cardio one hour 5 days a week. Adding weight training 3 day's a week for an hour. Cardio: Start at resistance on the machines that you are comfortable with. bump the resistance up every week. Mix you're cardio routine up on different machines everyday. Elliptical: works the lower and upper body. Burns lots of calories. easy on joints. Bike: Not much instruction needed. Treadmill: ( Still my favorite) I started walking 30 mins. Next was jog/walk for an hour. to now jogging an hour. Ask you're gym staff for help using any of the machines at the gym. (That is what they are there for) Try them all out you never know which ones you like and work for you. Weight lifting: Warm up with cardio at least 20 mins before When I started I had no clue what I was doing. I lifted a half hour 6 days a week. (Do NOT do that) I get four free sessions with a trainer each year at my gym. You have to give you're body time to rest and heal between lifting. His suggestion was 3 days a week. I am doing an all body lifting routine. Start at a weight you are comfortable with and increase when you feel comfortable to lift more Chest press Squats holding a kettle bell or hand weights Back and chest pull downs Leg lifts Crunch ab machine Rotating core machine Yoga ball crunches Yoga ball glute press Curls Triceps kick backs After my workout I stretch
  11. @@andrew.t.ames@gmail.com You are a bariatric ROCK STAR! Thanks for posting.
  12. @@finediva Lol I'm obviously not a well written person. I wanted to see what terms people have used to describe you. What were they and what does the term mean to you.
  13. @@JerseyCityGal I did find the two photos of body types on the web. Went out of my way to find them umm NO!. It is creepy to know someone took the time to collect the photos and label these body charts. I easily found them with one google search. Offensive photo's YES!... and that was one of the points of the thread.
  14. Why do people feel the need to interject their opinion about body type/appearance. The terms that people use to compliment about weight loss and new appearance baffle the hell out of me. I have no connection to people commenting about a persons physical self. Curios what terms have people described you as and what do they mean to you???? Handsome Pretty hot athletic Beautiful Cute sexy thin
  15. @@aSleeveStory As a larger me I worked as an officer in the prison system. The weight was a great way to put distance between me and the male inmates. Do I miss anything about being obese? Not at all.

  17. @@Sean Byrd Welcome to BariatricPal. Wonderful story, You are a great inspiration. Year's of dieting and regaining are over for you!
  18. @@Grateful_Love Congratulations soon to be sleever I hope you hear back and get you're surgery date soon.
  19. After having complications ever since surgery why would you be afraid to have things checked out? Better to be diagnosed by a physician than in a chat forum by strangers. You're health is so important. Take the time to call you're doctor.
  20. @@portuguesegal10 We have no control over peoples reactions. You always hope they can put their own feelings aside and be supportive. Some just can't. In this process I have learned a few things. I would rather build people up than tear them down. I have had to distance people that cant be supportive and positive in my life. My hope is his mind will ease after all the positive things that will happen in you're life with the bariatric process.
  21. @@IvyLeagueNP Once my family practitioner sent my surgeon the paperwork on my supervised weight loss. I had a date scheduled in a week
  22. what a hundred pounds in a pile looks like @RJ'S/beginning I found the pile of weight you lost. . It is always funny to me the responses that people give you after weight loss. Take them all as a compliment. You earned it
  23. @@AngelaE Thanks. I'm the same woman.... Just healthier and happier. I have lost 114 from my high weight and 98 pounds from surgery.
  24. @@noorjenna Here is my two cents for what ever it's worth. People won't always be there, people will disappoint you at some point or the other, no matter how much love you share with them, it's just human nature... so it is TOTALLY up to you to dig deep into your heart and figure out what makes you happy, figure out your own "joy button" He has put the ball in you're court. The decision is ultimately up to you. It would be Ideal to have his support. Wish he could put you're happiness in front of his own. Supportive people can be from areas in life other than a spouse. Friends, family, co workers, local bariatric support groups , your surgical staff and bariatricpal. "You better be prepared to go through the consequences on you're own" The consequences are Freaking Amazing! He is going to miss out on positive life changing events. Can you do this? Hell yeah! Follow you're dream. Believe you can have it. Believe you deserve it. Believe it's possible for you.
