I it's been 5 days now but what really is there to push out on straight liquids? I don't feel constipated or in pain. Thoughts??

Def sounds like a trip to the surgeon is in order! Just to make sure!

Mine talks too. No PPI. But I do take carafate regularly per doc instructions.

So this is very interesting. At what point are our tiny tummies completely healed no longer depending on those staples? I was told 9 weeks but then I saw 9 months later.

So when I take my full dose of Tylenol and hydrocodone I get super anxious. Does this happen to anyone else ? I've never had to take these types of pain meds before and I thought it was a strange reaction.

So I haven't had a BM since the morning of surgery but I'm not in any pain. I added some MOM (which is the worst tasting thing ever btw) because I dont want to look up and feel terrible a few days from now. Surely I'm not the only one who took 4-5 days to have a BM? I mean, how much can be in there I'm on liquids only. Guess maybe a call to the surgeon is in order?

Haha- I hear ya. I had a very vivid dream where I was choking on muddy water... So vivid I woke up thinking I must be vomiting. But I wasn't, just a very really dream. Luckily I'm off all the pain meds now!!

Welcome! Happy to hear you had an uneventful and speedy recovery from surgery! Dunno if this has happened to any of y'all but when I have pudding it goes does slow but fine but cream of mushroom soup lasted in my tiny tummy for 2 hours. Just weird since the pudding is thicker. Still trying to get all my fluids in. Best wishes!!

When you say crawl do you mean cause you were drunk or because you were in pain?

Good luck to you! Prepare for the pain but know that it passes quickly!! I had mine on the 11th and already off all pain meds. You can do it!

Don't have an answer for you but I too want to know this for the same reason!

So it didn't really cross my mind when I watered down and made cream of mushroom soup for breakfast this morning. I figured if I made it the consistency of water I could sip it but turns out- 4-5 spoonfuls and I am STUFFED. Doesn't hurt, luckily. I guess I need to be more mindful next time. Chicken broth with whey protein doesn't do this to me, maybe it's just creamy soups?! Thoughts?

Glad to hear your getting your fluids in! The first two days the left side incision burned a little if I moved too fast. Now it's mild pain at the worst. I've taken two showers since surgery, the first being in the hospital so they could help me the second at home. Showering was really easy, it's putting back on the abdominal binder by myself that's hard. My husband usually has to help me get it right. I still have my steristrips on and I think they are suppose to stay on for 5 full days. I am going to try rotating my liquids and see if I can't get more in. I have the same gas burps with every sip. I did use some of the gasx tongue strips and those seem to help a lot. Anyways- I hope your pain goes away soon! I can say that I haven't been hungry since surgery and hope it's the same for you.

Have a gas bubble that won't leave my left shoulder . Just walked for an hour at my house. Other suggestions please !

Hello all!! Feeling great and finally off pain meds. The meds made me super nauseated and sleepy. I too had a hernia repair. Must be pretty common. I won't lie, I immediately regretted my decision while I was in the hospital but now 4 days post op am very very happy. Biggest concern is getting all my fluids in for the day. I tried cream of mushroom Soup and it's stuck in my tiny tummy and I feel stuffed. Big mistake there- guess I need to Water it down more. How are y'all feeling now that your at home?

Could only tell ya up to four days out but so far so good! I think the increased hydration really helps.

It makes me feel better knowing others didn't get to the minimums for a few days. I am concerned I will need to go back to the hospital and get fluids if I continue to not reach goals daily. I haven't gotten sick yet and learned I can take a whole shot glass worth of fluid at one time. So that's nice, just need to know how long to weight till I take the next fluid shot! Can't wait till this is engrained in my head so I don't have to think about it all the time.

I've seen on here that many people recommend sleeping in a recliner after surgery- why is that? Did anyone not sleep in a recliner after?

You no longer slept in a recliner? You were able to get in your full 64oz and 70g protein? The gas pains left completely? You could sleep through the night without getting up?

I'm 3 days post op and am wearing my carpet thin pacing in the house because of the heat outside. I don't mind the heat but I sweat really easily and I'm not getting in all the fluids I need yet. So I figured I should only walk indoors so I don't get dehydrated. Any thoughts on this? Should I just go outside and walk? I live in Houston texas, so it's already pretty steamy out!

I am also 2 days out and have had a few. They weren't consistent and walking helped. Also taking the pain meds my dr prescribed are helpful. If they are super painful or really concerning you a simple phone call to your doc might help put your mind at ease. That is what they are there for. I had a hernia as well. Best of luck!!

How long did you wear your abdominal binder? Did your surgeon have you put a towel or pillow in between? I find the binder uncomfortable but wearing it wil a thick towel has helped. Also how long was it till the gas pain stopped? I know it's different for every person but for YOU how long??
