    Liquid diet advise

I was on a 2week preop diet. I started a week or so earlier with replacing a meal with a shake. I enjoyed some of my favorite foods the last week as well. I knew it would be a while before I could have them again. get in the habit if tracking. try different protein powders, but don't buy in bulk as your taste may change after surgery . The liquid diet can be challenging - just hang in there! If you are a coffee person start decreasing it now, you don't want caffeine withdrawal in the postop stage. congrats on your decision for surgery! I had my sleeve on June 9th, good luck!

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

Welcome to the 3rd week stall- anyone else with me? I know it happens. I started back to the gym this week increasing my walking intensity. Hopefully that will help. I track everyday on myfitnesspal. purée stage going well, will move to mushy/soft next week. How are the rest of the June 9th folks doing?

questions for my plant based friends

Endless , My husband is vegetarian also. He is having his sleeve done the end of July. What are you using for your main protein source? how did you handle it in the immediate post op phases? Thanks for any insight

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

MommaCEO- take protein with you. Made sure you get protein in every 2-3hours. Had an episode were I drank my protein shake and then I went out to run errands and get a pedicure. Right in the middle of my pedi my blood sugar started dropping. I was dizzy, hot, clammy. Luckily the nail girls gave me some juice and peanut butter. I felt better within 5 min, but I think in our early stage this could happen to any of us. I had water with me- next time I will have protein powder to put in it. Have a great time!

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

I have my first post op appointment tomorrow, down 17lbs!! just been sipping and walking:) I don't think I will be allowed to go back to work yet. I'm a nurse and have to be able to lift. my one incision opened, it's filling in but I don't like how it looks. I noticed it last Thursday, call the doctor- told to clean it with mild soap and keep it open to air. glad I have appointment tomorrow

    Lots of concerns?

You may be dehydrated. You could go to the ER for fluids. Ask for nausea medicine that is not a pill. There are suppositories for nausea- phenergan. Maybe this would help. Don't worry about your doctor being upset, this is your health and you need to do what's best for you
  9. If you area big coffee person, as I was, start weaning yourself off it now. Caffeine withdrawal. Is no fun. practice eating without drinking . The first few days postop were the hardest, don't get frustrated. Just keep sipping liquids and walking

    Pre-op Diet - feeling horrible

I agree with the other posts, the preop diet was very difficult. My husband warned my kids I was doing something difficult and I would be irritable and emotional. I did it for 14 days, cheated once on day 4. I felt so weak. I was allowed G2, low calorie Gatorade- it really helped. I ate broth for supper and SF jello for snacks... Oh- and I walked- esp when my family ate supper. Hang in there. I am now on day 12 liquid diet postop. This is much easier cause I'm not hungry. Good luck!

well I told my parents..didn't go well

I didn't tell my parents prior to surgery. my dad is having health concerns. They called me today with an update and ask for my work number, so if an emergency arises they will be able to contact me. I had to tell them I am on medical leave and why. My mom's response was" you didn't need that, you know better" I guess I don't know better cause my surgery was two weeks ago. I have a trip planned to see them in 2 weeks, not looking froward to the disapproval I will be facing. Hopefully they will see the weight loss and that I'm doing well and am happy with my decision. My dad was upset I didn't tell them before, gee I wonder why I didn't tell them?

    Post Op June 2014 Sleevers

The first week will be tough, go easy on yourself and your new tummy. I couldn't get enough liquid in for the first 5 days, then it got better. I am 10days post op. Still low energy, but getting protein and liquids in with little problems. I used gas-x strips, they helped me

    2 week diet started today!

I liked the Chike protein powders. Esp chocolate bliss. Premier protein is great on the go, 11oz, 30grams of protein. Preop I liked the vanilla, postop, the vanilla is too sweet but the chocolate goes down easy. Syntax roadside lemonade also good. Hang in there!!

    June 2014 Sleevers Check In!

When I did it- I are broth for dinner, sugar free jello and sugar free Popsicles for snacks. I tried different protein powders so I wouldn't get sick of any one flavor - good luck

    2 week diet started today!

The preop diet is difficult. Eac day it will get easier, the second week will be much better than the first week. Caffeine withdrawal sucks, it will only last a day or two:) good luck to all of you

    Surgery in 2 weeks! ☺️

Lip balm! Some people bring a small pillow, it's nice to have for the ride home( put it between seat belt and belly). Something easy to put on when your are discharged... I brought a sports bra and maxi dress( no waist line to rub the incisions) don't forget a charger for your electronics( bring an extra long one if you have it) pre op diets- each doctor does their own thing. I had a two week liquid diet and I think that was harder than my recovery after surgery. My pain has been manageable. Get up and walk as soon as possible! Best wishes on your surgery, I am 9 days post op with no regrets!

    Any NC sleevers?

I had surgery on the 9th of June. The first 3-4 days were uncomfortable, but manageable. I had a hernia repair also. Getting fluids in was difficult, but no problems now- except my little tummy doesn't like certain protein powders. Premier chocolate is my current fav. I drink 3 per day, 30grams of protein in each, 11oz each. I use flavored drops in my water. I have one incision that has been a little sore. Good luck as you wade through the pre op stuff. My first appointment was in February and I got sleeved in June

    June 17th

Good luck tomorrow!!! I am 1 week post op today, not a moment of regret. The gas pain is no fun- walk, walk. just keep sipping- hydrate... Gets easier as time passes. No pain today- only 7 days out!! If your nerves get the best of you tomorrow morning- ask anesthesia to give your something to relax you. Best of luck

    June 17th

Congrats on your decision! I have no regrets. I am 6 days post op. the nerves will not leave you until it's done. You did your research, planned a course , not just put it in the hands of your medical team. The pain has been minimal, ( except for the gas) walk, walk, walk. Sip, sip, sip. Listen to your new tummy- I couldn't get all my liquids in till day 4 post op, each day I would just keep at it. Let us know how your doing after surgery! Be kind to yourself

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!

I didn't have a BM till day four post op and when I did it wasn't very much. at this point we are not putting much into our bodies. I had a two week pre op diet, so I doubt there was much in there anyway

    Any 2014 June Sleevers

Angela- I did not wear a bra at the hospital. I walked around in a hospital gown and grey non skid socks. I was only there for one night. I wore a sports bra , no underwire, and a maxi dress the day I left the hospital. And flip flops. Be careful of anything with a waist or that you need to bend to get on. My surgery was last Monday. Good luck to you on your new journey
