Keep vomiting after Gastric by pass

That happened to me. I had to get iv fluids a couple of times. But anti-nausea medicine helped (had to try a couple). They discovered I had an infection probably caused by thrush I didn't know I had before the surgery. After taking the medicine get rid of it things got better. The only thing is I actually think it is helping with my weight loss still because everything I ate that made me sick I don't want to best anymore- some of my favorites! Go to the doctor!
  2. I have NO REGRETS and WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT! No it has not been easy or perfect. I have had trouble and trials, however I was able to get off both my blood pressure medicine and GERD/GI medication from DAY 1! I would not have been able to do that with the sleeve.

    Almost to -100 lbs!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am down 94 and my goal is 100 by my 6 mo mark on Dec 20th. I am able to move about so much better. But, I am still weak and need to start exercising and walking and am excited that I am getting to the point that I can.

6 months out... What's your progress?

I'll be 6 mo out in a couple of weeks. I'm down 94lbs from the start of my pre-op liquid diet. First few months had trouble, but think that was due to an infection in my esophagus (from Thrush they think I had pre-op). Doing well now. My hardest thing now is just taking medication without feeling sick for like it is stuck.
  5. I have found lately to be craving Baked Salmon and roasted squash & zucchini. But my greatest new find is Wendy's grilled chicken salad with Lite Spicy Asian Vinaigrette! One salad lasts me 4 meals! or the half salad 2. When we have been driving or traveling that is my go to stop on the road!

    Anyone on loads of meds

This has been the hardest adjustment for me since surgery! I use to be able to take a handful of pills in one swallow and never have any trouble. I was horrible at remembering all my meds I was suppose to take throughout the day, so my Drs got it down to where I could take them all at once before bed. However now getting back on and staying on my medications and taking Vitamins has been the biggest hurdle. I am blessed to be able to be taken off my blood pressure and Nexium since surgery. But, I still have SO MANY to still take. I have tried liquid form of some-That was tragic! Dissolvable for some (and still on) and have worked my way back up to pill or capsule for others. But it is so hard and I hate it so much I find myself hitting and missing them --- missing them way more than I should. It is just plain miserable. I have tried crushing and adding to applesauce etc. I have even tired taking nausea medicine prior to taking my meds. It is so bad now the texture of the dissolvable tabs start me gagging. I have tried going back to the regular pill form of what I can so far. But with so many it takes so long to get them down & then I feel sick or like something is stuck. I am on several for major depression and to make it worse I am medication resistant. However, I am a real mess if I am not on medication at all. My dr is great and is trying to come up with the best recipe for me post surgery. But, it is hard when I am not being consistent with taking them. It is also so expensive and I can't hardly afford them even with insurance. I ran out vitamins and haven't got back on them. Now I am losing hair REALLY BAD. I have been trying to figure out a way to EMOTIONALLY & PHYSICALLY help me take them. I have tried recruiting my husband and family to encourage & remind me & I let them know I really need it and NOT to get discouraged when I get cranky at them for telling me I need to take my medicine. Yet that is exactly what I do. I need them to tell me but I hate it when they do. Thank goodness they are putting up with me right now! I would love to hear how others have maybe overcame something similar or what they have done. I will be 6 mo post op on Dec 20th.
  7. I'm over 4 months post op and have just been having a complete blackout as far as what to eat lately. It seems like I can't even remember what I should be eating. Unfortunately since eating seems more of a chore I end up just putting off eating at all. So, some input as to what others are eating would be great!
  8. I have to beat the hospital in 5 hours. But have been busy trying to get work done before I go in. I can't sleep anyway. I haven't even packed yet. I was trying not to focus on the countdown. So now I have something to do since I can't sleep. Just a little nervous since the only time I cheated on my 10 day (plus for me) liquid diet was Monday evening. I had a Five Guys burger and fries. So I'm hoping everything is digested thoroughly. I also have only told my husband (and psych) exactly what kind of surgery I am having. Everyone knows I have has health problems and GI issues so they just think that is all it is for. I just don't want to and won't put myself through unnecessary criticism right now. I'm ready to do this and on my terms. I hope all of you are ready too.

    June 2014 Dates!?

Ok so my dr requires 10 days on the liquid diet before surgery, the last 3 clear liquids only. I actually started early in case they could moved surgery up (they did, but only one day). So basically I have been on the liquid diet since the 1st. I only ate one night after they had called to tell me my definite date is thurs the 19th and I was more then 10 days out. My weight loss has fluctuated between 6 and 13lbs. It has hung out around 10lbs most of the time. But I freak out at night when I check and it only has me down like 6. She said they will actually reschedule on some patients who haven't lost enough, like only 5 lbs because it shows they may not be ready to stick to it. But I have been so devoted and stuck to it UNTIL THIS EVENING! I had to go get a Five Guys burger and fries. I wanted to get it on Saturday night but they had already closed. So I literally have been waiting. Funny thing is Pizza is my ultimate favorite and I met some friends from church at Pizza Hut for lunch and all I had was water, but I knew I really wanted that burger. It was like the last supper for me. Anyway, now I'm worried if I'll be on clear liquids long enough now. My surgery is Thursday the 19th. Anyone relate? Or have suggestions?

    $1000 Co-Pay! BCBS-Michigan

Yes, that is correct~ I have a $1000 "Co-Pay"! NOT "deductible" that is separate. NO, it does not go towards my maximum out of pocket either. I have been saving our Flex benefit card to use on this. However, that stinks also since we have only been able to contribute $2500 a year towards Medical Flex benefits last year and this year, compared to $5000 previously. Even at that we would run out by the end of July. I'm just curious if any of you have anything similar?

    June 2014 Dates!?

My date is June 20th unless they get a cancellation between now and then. I am so ready! I even started the liquid diet early so that I would be ready in the event they get an opening. And if they don't, I'm just adjusting to a change in my eating thought process.

    BCBSM vs Dr?

So the insurance rep from my surgeons office called me last week to let me know all of paperwork has been submitted to my insurance. She said they got a precert date &could have it done as early as June 16. However, they need to wait for authorization in order to make sure they will get paid. I called my insurance twice and was told they don't have any record of my dr sending anything. Today when I was told that my policy doesn't require pre authorization. The ins rep gave me her extension and said to have my dr's office call. Also to find out where they sent the paperwork. She asked if the dr was withholding services for a procedure that doesn't require pre authorization? I said after talking to ins it kind of sounds that way. I know the dr just wants to make sure they get paid. They are even a BCBS Blue Distinction facility. This is really annoying. Has anyone else been in this situation?
