6 month check up.. All lab results look great with the exception of vitamin A.. so now I need to take 8000 mcg of vitamin A for a month then I can stop and get lab test drawn again at one year. Small price to pay for getting a healthier me. I also was given my goal weight which is 115-120 lbs. I only need to lose 33 more pounds. My only real concern was she wanted me to try and work out 7 days a week vs. The 5 days that I already workout. I think I can, I think I can..lol Oh on a side note... The pulsing in my stomach she said was me starting to feel things that I haven't felt in years.. could be true but I think I will follow up with my primary doctor just to be sure. Each of you have been amazing support. I hope everyone keeps in touch as we get closer to our goal weights and the real struggles with maintaining becomes our focus. Best wishes! Deanna

Has anyone experienced a visible pulsing in your stomach area after eating? It doesn't happen all the time but at least 3-4 times a week.

Small victories are the best!!!.. as silly as this sounds to other non-surgery friends...to us that has made the decision to have the surgery it means alot... I can finally put on a pair of knee high boots and they fit over my calves! !!!.. I almost started crying. (Yes I know there are boots with wider widths but they were not as cute or easy to find)

Claire My random dumping just hit me after a workout. I had my eggs for breakfast.. then went for a jog two hours later.. and then 2-3 hours after that is when it hit me. I didn't even get a chance to have lunch before I started feeling bad. I started getting the nausea, sweating, rapid heart rate and then the other end. That lasted a good hour. I know my workout wasn't that intense. So I'm not sure if I had a delayed reaction to the eggs that caused it or it was something else.

Kimr That's great!!.. I have my 6 month check up on the 19th. So far all of my lab work looks good with the exception of vitamin A.. that lab test came back low, so I guess I wait to see what they say. Can I ask why you are doing the detox? Was it something you wanted to do or did your Dr suggest it?

Has anyone else had random dumping syndrome? .. I'm not sure if I had it or something else was going on.. it was horrible to say the least. On a happier note.. I set a goal to be in the 150's by my six month check up, and I have done it!!!.. so super excited I haven't seen this number in 22 years. I still have 40 more pounds that I want to lose.. (I'm only 5 foot ) but if my body doesn't want to reach that goal I will be very happy where ever I end up. I'm the healthiest I have been in a very long time and it feels good. Congrats to each of you for taking this new journey to getting healthier.

We are back in the States after a wonderful vacation.. Europe is beautiful..but that time change really gets to you the first few days. The good news is that I managed to lose 2 lbs!.. I'm not sure how that happened but I was very pleased to see that I didn't gain. Hope everyone is doing well.

Lleigh82 What have you been eating prior to having the tube placed? How did you know you had a protein deficiency? I have labs drawn on Aug 5th for my six month follow up so I guess I will see where things stand at that point. Sounds like you have had some big bumps in the road.. I hope it's getting better. Best wishes Deanna JanetteH Thanks for the kind words of support.. I just had one of those days and it's back on track. Thanks Again!!!

UGH!!!.. carb over load on the holiday... I had serious moments of weakness.. I even had sugar free ice cream.. oh so yummy.. but I paid for it shortly after.. At least I know not to attempt the sugar free desserts during my vacation next week. I had an eye opening moment today that some bad habits still remain a challenge, no matter how worried I am of dumping. I have fallen off of charting and measuring my foods and drinks. I'm using the heat as an excuse not to exercise this week. The weight is not coming off as I think it should be.. but after my confessions above I need to reevaluate my reason for having the surgery and get back on track right away. The first step was confessing right? I'm worried that while we are on our cruise I will be tempted to eat when my party eats every time. Please give me strength to not fall into that bad habit. Sorry for the ranting confession but, I feel writing about it will give me the visual that I need to get back on track. Have a wonderful week everyone Deanna

JanettH I take 1000mcg B-12 sublingual daily. My surgeon started me on that after surgery. I also take biotin daily. I noticed the eyebrows are growing wonderfully. . Lol Congratulations and Happy 4th of July! !

I just bought Nixon for the hair loss. Not sure it will help much at this stage but it should help with faster regrowth. My bald spots are pretty visible (super thin hair to start with). I have noticed a slow down with how much is coming out. They say it peaks at six months.. I hope that's true or i will be looking into a wig soon.

Tkauhi That's wonderful!!!.. isn't it fun to finally want to go clothes shopping again? Wallflower I've been also getting random bruising. . I thought I was losing my mind and forgetting that I bumped something. Anyone have thoughts what it could be from? Vacation time is almost here and the most exciting thing going through my mind is knowing I will be fitting in the airplane seats more comfortable than last year. Little things like this mean so much more to me. JanetteH You got this!!.. maybe they will have smaller lighter meal options. Great job everyone on your progress this far!! Deanna
17. Megan I'm not telling you what is right or wrong..but what I experienced at your stage. Please ask the advice of your Dr. Or Nut to be sure everything is ok. 1.) The nausea will go away eventually. I couldn't be any where near the smell of food the first couple of weeks. If you keep feline nauseated I would call your surgeons office. My Dr. Gave me suppositories to help. 2.) Your body may not be tolerating certain foods. So I would try changing it up and try those foods again later. I still to this day can not tolerate any yogurt. 3.) Telling when your full is tricky at this stage. For me it was a heavy feeling. I was never "hungry feeling" but I ate my three meals a day and had my Protein shakes in between. You may only be able to tolerate 2-3 bites at each meal. Most of all it does get better! Best wishes Deanna

Hi Everyone I don't mind sharing my weight loss. Starting weight 243, surgery day 226, today 167. I feel I am on the very slow weight loss cycle. Don't get me wrong I am very very pleased with the weight that has came off at this point, it just seems like I get stuck on the same weight for a few weeks and then I lose 5+ lbs then repeat cycle. I work out daily (some days are better than others) I ride my bike 13 miles or I jog/walk for 6 miles. I prefer the bike any day! My go to foods are non existing. . The foods that once was ok are now not being tolerated. I started freezing my protein shakes and that seems to be working. Have a great day! Deanna
20. Hi Vicki Which surgery are you having? Other than chasing kids around what additional exercise are you doing? I am four months post op gbs and I had a hard time hitting goal weight before surgery. After speaking with my surgeon he had me drop my calories to 1200 a day.. Have you spoken with the nut to see if your eating to many/ not enough calories?

Kimr So sorry for your experience. I would say that was dumping. When I had my experience it was light headed, rapid heart rate, vomiting, horrible over all experience. It's funny how our new pouch reacts to food on a daily basis. One day your fine and then the next all heck breaks loose. I'm so glad you made it home in time. Hope you never have that experience again. Best wishes Deanna

JanetteH I am the first to admit my protein intake needs much improvement. According to my doctor everyone experience some hair loss between three and six months. My hair has never been thick and has always had issues with breaking off so it doesn't surprise me that my loss is more noticeable than most. I applaud those of you that are able to get your protein in, I continue to struggle it just doesn't settle well. I liked the idea of making the protein shakes into ice cream and think I need to try it that way to see if it helps. Deanna

Oh my goodness.. I have a bald spot!!!.. I started out with thin hair all my life, so this doesn't surprise me that it's noticeable. I was just hoping to notice it around the six month mark vs. now. This is the one side effect that I knew was bound to happen and if it means that I'm getting healthier, I'm happy with it. So here's to the new healthier balding me!! It will grow back I just need to make sure my weight doesn't come back! Happy weight loss everyone Deanna
